Hey dude I don't know if you needed a new key or not but what I did I use my old key and took the new Tumblr down to a locksmith and had them rekey the Tumblr for me and I didn't disconnect the wire from the harness around the key
I believe you have to put your old chip in your new key. It's in there but you can loose it easy. That little black chip is tiny and likes to get lost.
It would be interesting to what the lock Smith had to do, put old senser back in? If you hold old key to the black ring, the truck will start and with administer key set, you could drive to locksmith and save so green$$

Evidently they are not all hthe same,my 2011 F150 XLT has 4 screws in the bottom.

Switch came out burnt truck and got little to hot so just had new one cut

The 2011 was a burn and the key had got to hot and had to make a new one and program it
Just needed to be rekeyed they sell lock cylinder kits with all that's needed to do job

Luckily locksmith is the neighbor lol and the key chip was bad had to replace is why wouldn’t start . Thanks
