Love seeing people get hands-on with their own vehicles, but as a RUclips commenter I of COURSE have to criticize a bit: 1. Take it from a current forklift technician, NEVER trust hydraulics under load without something else supporting them, you really gotta be using jack stands or something to supplement. Doesn't matter how reliable they've been previously, or how many times you've done this before, or how new the system is, all it takes is a split second for those levelers to give out and your face is pinned between the oil pan and the dirt. They're great for getting the truck off the ground, but once a human being is under them it's a whole different story. 2. Oil filters only need to be tightened by hand! Filter wrenches/strap wrenches are really only designed to break them loose, since they can get so stuck on even when the previous installer only hand tightened them. Depending on your driving conditions and climate, you might have an "extra fun" time getting that filter off during the next oil change, since it was cranked on with some extra leverage this time around. I usually grab the filter with a rag and twist as tight as I can, since an oily glove on a smooth filter is usually too slippery. But seriously, tightening by hand is the industry standard torque setting, let the filter's O-ring do the work for sealing it tight. 3. The "W" in oil viscosity designations actually stands for "winter"! That first number relates to how it flows when it's cold (in winter climates or on cold start), and the second number is the flow rating once it's up to temp. So 5W-30 means it flows at a measurement of "5" when you start the engine (lower number is thinner viscosity), then once it's warm it's flowing at a measurement of 30 (thicker once it heats up, I can relate to that one). That one's more of just a tech school fun fact. And no I don't know what the numbers are measured in, I'm not THAT much of a nerd. Would hate to see you get crushed and have Emma take on the burden of filming alone, so stay safe and stay cozy guys 👌
Great points!! I completely agree, I happened to know I can fit well without lifting, and lifting just made it easier to reach and film things. But great points for safety! I didn’t know that about the oil filters though, very interesting. Makes my life easier. 😂 The W being for winter, I had no idea. I just thought it was relevant to the thickness or viscosity. That makes so much more sense! I would also hate to have Emma film alone. 😂😂 great points, thanks!
Those who change oil to keep oil from going all over your hands and making a mess punch a hole in the center of your oil filter over your drain pan let it drain or you have a cold drink go back underneath their spin your oil filter off no muss no fuss makes life so much easier at this is the tip of the day for all you DIY oil changers. @@georges4562 😂😂 I should put a disclaimer on here somewhere: “do not copy, most likely incorrect instructions” 🤣 I couldn’t even find oil change videos for this engine, so I figured I’d make one myself! I’m all about saving money, especially in these times!
Great video! I have essentially the same rig. I’m ready for my first oil change but I’m only at 4300 miles and getting the notification. I need to look into the monitor to see if it’s based on time as well as miles. The manual does say 10k so I’ve got to figure out why I’ve got the notification.
Thank you! Absolutely. So the computer will calculate the need based on mileage, time AND conditions of driving! So driving in the heat of the summer or at higher RPMs will cause that to calculate a sooner oil change!
Don’t be afraid to go with a heavier weight oil, Like a 5W-40 ford won’t tell you this but they do all their durability testing with heavier weight oil then fill it with a lighter weight oil for fuel economy. For example the coyote is durability tested with 5W-50, that’s all ford performance racing school uses but then ford says 5W-20 all the way to 21 when they went to 5W-30. So don’t be afraid to run a t6 rotella 5W-40. You’ll pick up a few psi of oil pressure all across the rev range and I’m sure that big old thing see’s some rpm’s.
i disagree with this. Especially with a remote filter location. the hoses will still have oil in them that will be air locked till the filter is removed.
I'll be damn! Now I feel like a perfect moron, feel like 💩! After driving my rig from Kentucky three weeks ago, thought it would be a great idea to get an oil change, 150 bucks! I'm getting me a beer now! (Great video, and thanks for the awakening, i'll do it myself next time!) 🤙🏻🤪
Oh man, I’m glad this helped at least one person! Emma was calling around and getting prices and I was getting angrier and angrier the higher those prices went. 😂 live and learn!! I’ve spent WAY too much on oil change packages in the past. 😬
You'd be better off with a Motocraft FL-820S (3-4 bucks on Amazon) because quality on Fram filters can be spotty! There's reports of them leaking and Supposedly their filter media is water soluble! Can't go wrong with OEM for that price! Also as a old Mechanic (used to own Gas stations and parts stores) NEVER trust a hydraulic jack only to work under a vehicle... please put a jack stand under frame after you raise with levelers! Thanks for the video I'm getting ready to change my oil on new Greyhawk 27U. I'm going to be watching some of your videos as the MHs are very similar.
I didn’t know that, great tip! I’ll grab one of those next time, especially for that price! And absolutely, I just happened to know I fit well with extra space should they fall, the levelers just made it easier with filming and such. I love the 27U, great size!!
Freeway 21/22mpg, yep. Airstreams in particular tow extremely well. Unloaded was up to 23mpg. The Ford 6.7L Powerstroke is a very different engine, of course. I also don't have a single thing to gain by mentioning this, so I agree - why would I lie to people? 😂

That's a great idea, thank you!!
Thanks! Helped to change the oil in my RV today!
Hell yeah! 🤘🤘 Glad it helped!!
Now I know.
Nice job.👍
If it's not too much of a trouble, can you show how the front seats swivel ?
Have fun and keep them videos coming.
Thanks.
Thanks!! darn easy job!
I’ll try and throw that in for the video we’re shooting today! We’ve only swiveled them once, so this will be fun!
@@CozyLivingMachine ibknow you upload a video every day .
So no rush on this one.
Thanks again and be safe.
That oil filter is nice and easy to get to 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Much easier than I was expecting!
@@CozyLivingMachine I’m so happy you’re providing me all this training lol lol 👍👍🇺🇸

Drain first. Then change the filter. Always.

Actually, nothing wrong with frams! They work just fine for the price.
$70 for an oil change on that is a deal. Don't know whe he "refused to pay" for that?!

22mpg towing a travel trailer with a Cummins? Lol. Nice try. Why lie to people? Mine doesn’t get that NOT towing.
