      i usually dont follow or buy celebrity skincare, here's why because Celebs will never tell you how many times they go for chemical peels, botox, fillers hell! there are treatments we've never even heard of because Dermatologists will recommend the most expensive and high quality treatments for celebs cause doctors know they have money..and most of them never use their own products anyway.

    What i dislike about this line is that every product is formulated with mica. Mica is sourced by child labor in illegal mines and these illegal mines often use the names of legal mines so you really do not know if the mica in the product is ethically sourced, because there is no transparency in the industry. Also mica is extremely unnecessary. It is just a mineral that provides a sheen to the product. I don’t think a sheen is worth children dying, being terrified by falling rocks and getting hurt or them seeing other children get hurt or dying. You can go on RUclips for documentaries for more information

    • @s.1469
      @s.1469 3 года назад +73

      Yes yes yes!! Thank you for pointing this out. A lot of skincare companies have added much more mica in their skincare lines since the “Glowy” “Radiant” “Dewy” look has been on trend. Highlighters, dewy “potions” etc.
      You can get a “glow” naturally with the right skincare and nutrition habits. MICA industry is such a viscous cycle. If demand gets low these communities wont get food. I do think that we need to be more vocal about the lifestyle and unethical predicaments these natives are put in. Unfortunately mica is a very much demanded source for cars, cellphones, electronics, etc. It’s just sad that the people who do the most ARDUOUS grunt work, to ensure this product gets to the big companies, are the same people that can barely afford new shoes, clothing, medical care and PPE!
      The LEAST JLO could do is do her research and ensure a good portion of the profits go to these underprivileged villages and mines. They get PENNIES for a days work, and most of the time their pay is deducted out of the food provided at the worksite....whattt- It’s absurd. Thank you again fro sharing.

      I think skin care is a little bit more delicate, you think twice before buying any product, specially if it's overpriced. IMO people are more cautious about skin care products, if it's not recommended by a dermatologist or and aesthetician you're most likely to get some undesirable effects. It's not like make up, that everyone buys without giving any further thought.

    It’s upsetting when women are dishonest about cosmetic work. She is 51 with kids, has had a stressful and busy celebrity life from a young age. Plastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatologists have debunked it all and she’s had procedures, definitely gets facials, and some subtle great work. I think she has even denied in Instagram comments that she doesn’t get any fancy facials. It’s not misogynistic to hold people accountable. Not drinking alcohol helps, eating healthy helps, exercising helps, but she does not get 8-10 hours of sleep and all that is still not enough for how she looks. There is no justification for a 48 dollar eye cream and I don’t understand the need for a red dye in skincare. It makes me sad seeing women commenting on her Instagram in a self-deprecating manner ready to spend the hundreds to look like her but they never will. She doesn’t know anything about skincare. She said her only request was to add olive oil and that is her single secret. Like straight olive oil on her face is what she’s been doing for decades? Still confused. Almost her entire Instagram is heavily edited, airbrushed, and the promo for her skincare is the same and she has a lot of makeup on. It’s dishonest and targets vulnerable women and that’s my problem. For someone from a humble upbringing, I hoped she would at least make it “affordable” like she claimed she would. It’s a luxury brand, not affordable. I don’t see her as any different from the jenners/kardashians anymore.

Even though Eating unhealthy food can speed up the ageing process, that doesn’t mean eating healthy will slow it down. if only such of the skin care videos were truly about perfecting our routine for our best skin life and not obsessing about looking young. at one point or another every skin care creator will slip out how ageing is the worst thing that could ever happen to them as if they weren't getting there some day. it upsets me that it's so normalised to do all sorts of unnecessary stuff to your face/body bc you don't wa'nt to age gracefully. I'm tired of whats implied. I'm tired of the jokes. I'm tired of everyone just accepting it as fine to hate on others for simply existing. why can't it just be about the best that we can be for what we have, where we're at in life. 💔

    First, in her defense: She's 50 not 80, so she's not THAT old lol She has always taken very good care of herself, eaten well, always been a dancer so she's athletic, and if she was religious with her sunscreen, she's ahead of the game. She's also got great genes, if you see pics of her family they all look young, and Latinas age better than us poor white girls, we age like milk lmao
    Now, about where she's being sneaky: She claims she has never had surgery or Botox. First off, she 100% had a nose job. Way back, I remember her Fly Girl days and she did it sometime after that ,before her career really took off. Noses don't get thinner as you age and that's not contouring. I actually believe it's possible she hasn't gotten Botox, but she has most likely used every non invasive treatment available to maintain her skin, because why wouldn't she? Facials, chemical peels, lasers, IPL, micro-needling, skin tightening, micro current machines, LED machines, etc. There is so much available to reverse and slow down aging, and that's b4 you move up to injectables and surgery. Micro current alone can mimic the effects of Botox, she could afford to have a state of the art machine in every house she owns lol She most likely does all of these things. You know how I know? Cuz that's what we would all do if we had the cash lol So it's disingenuous to say "oh I don't use Botox" but you know you do all these other things to keep your skin fresh and not mention them. And then say it's olive oil and launch a line of over-priced moisturizers.
    Those prices are ridiculous.

      @@mahisinghvi08 Well, we were on the phone while he was telling me about how he's been developing dark spots on his face and he doesn't know why. the reason is because he doesn't actively wear sun screen and he drives A LOT so the sunlight + constant exposure due to reflection from the car screen means more damage. I explained to him what causes the spots and the reasons and then told him to try out Niacinamide (from the ordinary but he got a different brand because of weird pricing) or Alpha Arbutin (he bought AA instead of Niacinamide) and wear SPF 50/60 sun screen. Try sharing your own stories about how something worked for you and suggest it to him. Then if he counters with water, explain how this particular product/ingredient works. Lucky for mw it didn't take much reasoning, he wants to look and care for himself better anyway so he got on board instantly. Even sent me links of other products asking what they work for lol. hope it helps :)

    I think part of the issue is that in the marketing, JLO visibly has filters on and moving about her in images/videos (see: her website). Also, these products didn’t exist 10 or even 5 years ago so can she really contribute her current skin care to her regiment? Not the dietician, nutritionist or surgical / non-surgical treatments she has the privilege to access? Nothing wrong with those things, of course. Fuck, I would if I had the access but I think the entire thing is deceptive. 🤷🏻‍♀️

      i mean but she probably uses similar things now to keep her skin that way. How should she remember her entire skincare routine from 5-10 years ago? And also the diet and everything, like she’s a celebrity, everyone knows she has privilege access for nutritionists and no surgical treatments because she’s a celebrity. But either way, she never said “oh use this and never get surgery, go to a nutritionist, etc.” Skincare helps, but lifestyle and diets obviously help just as much, it’s not her job to educate us on that.
