Honestly that was the practice still today in Europe plus I’ve heard them sing Acapella so I can sing. I think they mostly disbanded bc the boy and demand lowered significantly plus guys kept coming in and out of the band which kills momentum in terms of fan reception. But lip syncing could be part of it I just don’t think it was the main reason
