    The reasons for doing the passport checks twice is so you don't have to complete UK Customs in London and walk off the train as a domestic passenger. The first passport control is the French Border people stamping you out of the EU and then the British Border Force complete their checks so you have technically officially entered the UK. Hope that helps.

    • @travelpockets
      @travelpockets  2 года назад +3

      Thanks! Yeah, we figured that out once we got to London since they did not check anything there.

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Год назад +1

      Customs actually happens afterwards or onboard. In the EU, there was no customs, and there aren't agreements to carry out customs checks beforehand. You have to go through the red or green channel (something to declare/nothing to declare) at the end, and officers might do random checks on your goods at the destination or on the train

      We have a lot of luggage because we carry our camera equipment and some other things we have to promote. So it's half business and half leisure trip. If we didn't have to take the extra stuff, we could definitely pack lighter.

    Is there any kind of security/customs process when arriving in London St. Pancras?

    • @travelpockets
      @travelpockets  2 года назад +1

      No, there is not. I believe that's why there are several security checkpoints when you board in Paris because they do all that there before you board. Once you get to London, you are free to roam about!

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Год назад +1

      There is now customs at the end because of Brexit, but that's just a green channel/red channel though there might be random checks at the station or on the train
