If you watch the recent coffeezilla, the great con artists of all time must be the 1% because the hosts didn't do their job at all, just like Michael, seriously the story here is media spewing bs even great than the OP point

The fact Michael can sit there and talk about Sam admitting to having no empathy, then turn around and defend what he did makes me rethink every piece of work he's ever done.

Spoken like a man realizing he wasted all that time writing a book praising a scumbag but couldn't bring himself to re-write the book or significantly change the direction after the facts came out. Sheesh, what a schmuck. While CBS somewhat played softball, I appreciate that they at least implied what Michael Lewis was saying, was book-selling BS.

How am I supposed to feel bad for this sociopath?
You're calling crypto a fraud? this has nothing to do with crypto and everything to do about financial fraud done by a criminal.
Michael Lewis still cannot admit that he was fooled.

I agree, not a genius, just had very misguided mother!
Why would you treat your child like an adult?
Adults have very different hormones and are highly developed.
Depriving your kid of childhood is a form of abuse.

I am autistic. ASD1. What used to be called Asperger’s. I’m wondering if Sam Bankman-Fried was evaluated for autism. Here in this segment he is portrayed as a sociopath. The camera zooms in on his bouncing leg. This is stimming. He is described as looking in the mirror and learning how to look like other people. This is called masking. “He had to learn how to pretend to laugh.” Obviously he has committed a crime and this must be addressed, but this story is yet another example of how misunderstood autism is. Maybe if this person had gotten help he would not have gone down such a disastrous path. A blind person gets a cane, braille, a seeing eye dog. A person who can’t walk gets a wheelchair. Autistic people often go undiagnosed and unhelped. The struggle to fit in often suppresses empathy and facial expressions because all your energy is going into processing information, masking, fitting in. Being autistic and not knowing it is extremely difficult. So much is happening to you and around you that you cannot understand. You do not hear, think, or process information the same way that neurotypical people do. But no one can see it so you are often viewed as annoying, “lacking empathy,” “lacking emotion,” freakish, and suspect. Again, the stigma about empathy and emotion happens because the autistic person is putting a Herculean effort into trying to process information such that empathy and emotions are suppressed and diverted into a background compartment. The truth is that autistic people are often MORE empathic and emotional than neurotypicals but those traits are not VISIBLE in the moment because of the effort going into real time events. A neurotypical person’s pathway is ABCD whereas a neurodivergent person’s pathway could be A MZBYFGXRE. An autistic person can be very intelligent. An autistic person has what are called Special Interests. This is when you learn everything there is to learn about a topic. You research it and study it in depth; however, your ability to APPLY the information gained from this special interest could be affected by undiagnosed autism. I hope that this segment will be followed up with another one where there is more awareness brought to what undiagnosed autism looks like. I believe this person is being portrayed as a sociopath when in fact he might be undiagnosed autistic, in which case all his energy over many years could have been going into fitting in with society, feeling like a misfit, having a lot of intelligence with a compromised ability to apply it, and generally getting severely messed up due to the lack of diagnosis, help, support, and accommodations that are given to people who have disabilities that are visible to others.

Thank you for this enlightenment, LizaLane. You constructed your argument very well in layman's terms, which is just what's needed to achieve a broader public understanding of autism.

What Michael Lewis is describing is a psychopath/sociopath/narcissist, NOT a Genius because he didn't invent crypto, he just built a better mouse trap to con people into.
SBF even during his Sentencing Hearing won't admit real guilt or real remorse, SBF told the Judge to his face that it was a liquidity problem and he could have gotten everybody paid back - YES, it was a liquidity problem because you took all the investors' money and parked it in your account!!!!
