      Thanks for watching my friend, always a pleasure to see you stop by. Yeah, I really miss his videos. Early on in my journey his content really helped me with my purchases. I wonder if he's still involved in the community in any way. Who knows. On a side note I checked out a few your videos. Good stuff! Although I don't understand Hungarian, but really enjoy the sounds and shaving. Take care and have a great week!

    Great shave Aaron👌 Awesome lather as usual, even though I've tried a few Badgers recently I'm still a synthetic brush fan. I agree pre-shave is really an optional extra and yes I do it for the majority my shaves because I don't shower before shave so the preshave soap/cream helps clean & prepare the skin and beard, it doesn't appear to hurt the lather and it can help some soaps with residual in particular. I've always enjoyed floral scents, more so than my wife. Take care brother👌😎👌

      Hi Lawrie, thanks so much for tuning in! Always a pleasure to see your feedback and support. I definitely appreciate badgers and will continue to experiment with them. But I would be lying if I said I didn't prefer using synthetics. Also most badgers tend to be a bit pricey for me. Great point about the preshave. I would have to agree with that. I always shower beforehand, but for those who don't, cleaning and prepping the skin is important. The PAA cube has caught my eye but never pulled the trigger. Happy to hear you're also into florals! This is probably my favorite floral soap I've ever put my nose on. Have a great week and take care.

    Great content as always, Aaron! I agree that I really have to like a scent these days to get the soap/splash (I did up taking the plunge and got the set for Siren's Song...supposed to arrive this week). The Albizia scent sounds great. On a side note, I've made progress dialing in my [non-shaving] skincare routine, to the point where I actually experimented with shaving with a tallow soap yesterday and this morning (Noble Otter Monarch). So far no issues, fingers crossed. Might be a while before I feature any tallow soaps on my channel, but it'll be nice to hopefully have that door open to so many more great artisans (including Declaration Grooming). Take care, -Joseph

      Thanks so much for watching Joseph! I appreciate your feedback! Yeah, I typically go the sample route these days and will buy the set if it’s something I really, really enjoy. Even if I don’t enjoy the samples enough, they still last for a few shaves which I’m more than satisfied with. However I did blind buy Albizia and luckily I enjoy it a lot. Great choice with sirens song. Beautiful scent, will always be one of my favorites. You won’t be disappointed with those splashes too they are amazing. Good news Man! That will definitely open you up to way more great soaps out there on the market! Hoping for the best! Keep experimenting. Monarch is a great scent by the way. Have a great week!

    Hi Aaron. Another great episode. Good to hear your positive thoughts on Declaration Grooming and Barrister & Manns quality. Haven’t had either but I know I will one day. I had some Merkur blades that came in a variety pack and thought they were very high quality.

      Hey Doug, always appreciate you stopping by my friend. Hope all is well! Very happy to hear you’re enjoying the videos! Man, you gotta get on board with DG and B&M! But of course any shaving soap will do a good job. I gravitate more towards artisans like this mainly for their scents. Base isn’t too important when you have your technique down. These blades did surprise me with their performance. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  • @10floz30minutes
    @10floz30minutes 6 месяцев назад +1

    Exactly my thought about use of preshave products! We typically use a SHAVING soap for our preparation to soften the hair and provide some lubrication from the blade to skin. If our soap does as was designed, no need for preshave oil/preshave soap. Otherwise, we should find a better shave soap.

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks so much for watching! Glad we both agree on that! Although some preshave has caught my eye in the past (like the PAA cube), I just know I wouldn’t need to use it. Soaps are so good nowadays that if you work it into your skin before the shave, you’ll be just fine. Hope you have a great weekend!

    Hey Aaron! How you doing man?
    Good razor this! Reminds me of the Razorock Mentor that I have.
    Also, Miksteak is a base that ends up really fast for me.
    My lather with it, isn't even near yours 😮
    Yours gets soo rich and creamy and glossy.
    I have a video with it, if you want to watch.
    Recently, I have used Ultima from Ariana & Evans, very good stuff, crazy lather.

      @DoubleAshaves  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much for tuning in my friend! I appreciate the kind words! Thanks, I used a pretty decent amount of soap in my bowl and it whipped up really nice with some small water additions. Still wasn’t hydrated up to my preferred lather but it still shaved great. I’ll have to check out the razorock mentor and more Ariana and Evan’s. I’ve heard about their soap bases and they sound great. I only have one soap from him (the undersea) and really enjoy it. Thanks for putting it on my radar! Keep up the good work and enjoy your week!

    Great shave Aaron ! Thanks to your recommendation, i ended up picking up La Tierra Mojada and really enjoyed it. Would it be redundant to pick up Son Et Lumiere as well? I'm a big fan of petrichor.
    Also, is the sweetness in Albizia comparable to the florals in Mojada ? Thanks !

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much for watching Xerxes! Appreciate your kind words and feedback! I’m very happy to hear you snagged La Tierra mojada! I love that scent. Son et Lumiere is a lot more pavement focused. Frankly it just smells like rain on pavement. I enjoy it, but it’s not a scent for everyone. I appreciate it for how realistic it is, but La Tierra mojada is a lot more wearable due to its complexities with the florals. I’m happy to send you a sample of son et Lumiere to try, if you’re in the US. (My email is in the description). Albizia has more of a green sweetness to it. In my opinion the florals are quite different than in mojada. If you’ve ever smelled honeysuckle, that’s a lot of what’s going on in Albizia to my nose. So it’s greener and sweeter than mojada.

      @doctorxerxes 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@DoubleAshaves Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I'm not in the US but thanks for the offer anyway. I might pick up Albizia then. I do enjoy the scent of Honeysuckle.

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@doctorxerxes you’re welcome! I do think you would enjoy Albizia. Highly recommend getting the splash too if you can. I forgot to mention that it’s not a super strongly scented soap. I think by design it has a subtleness to it so it’s not overpoweringly sweet. Thought I would mention that since a lot of folks prefer strong scented soaps.

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@doctorxerxes another thing I forgot to add, is if you’re a petrichor scent fan, to also check out Summer Storm from chiseled face. It’s smells like rain and green grass. You would enjoy it a lot. Another one that’s much more wearable than son et Lumiere.

    Hey Aaron, Hope all is well. I find that after 2 or 3 shaves, the “wet dog” smell is totally gone from the badger knots. For me, badger first, boar second, and synthetic third. There are so many different levels of badgers, certainly enough to keep me intrigued. What I also find interesting is how the natural hair brushes change as you use them. Crazy, but you can almost develop a relationship with them! But I enjoy synthetic brushes from time to time as well. Since your last visit, my Declaration Grooming collection has really grown. Gorgeous soaps and splashes. I have Albizia as well. Have not used it yet, but the florals in the soap are mesmerizing. See ya soon! Glenn

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much watching Glenn! Appreciate your feedback! Yeah, you’re not wrong about the smell going away quickly. I use the PAA brush cleaning soap on my badgers and that works pretty well to rid the smell too. Frankly I’m not a great judge of badger brushes since I don’t have much experience with them. But the way you describe them, and seeing your array of badgers really makes me appreciate them. Everyone has different preferences in this hobby, and that’s part of the reason it makes it so beautiful. Very happy you are getting on board with DG soaps! And happy to hear you enjoy the scent on Albizia! It’s amazing isn’t it? Take care and have a great week!
