Thank you Scott for another great video and Jonas Vingegaard is a true gentleman. I will never forget when he was interviewed after a race in June Jonas focused on the tragic event in France when 4 children were knife attached in a playground rather than his cycling. Such a great guy I hope he will be a cycling legend.😊
with 2 tour de france wins and a second place in his first year id call him a cycling legend already
Could easily have won Vuelta. Despite no prep and being very sick in the first week. He's insane
Such a lovely young man! I’m a super fan !
If he keeps up like this year he will become a true legend, as I believe he has the ability of winning 3 GT in same year
in my opinion At present I think there is no discussion vingegaard its the best climber in the world above others like pogacar and roglic They are very good in the mountains, they have shown it in recent years. but I think vingegaard it's on another level I honestly think vingegaard it's a figure media that for the world of cycling It's very good because if it weren't there we are not witnessing what for me It is the best rivalry in cycling today and one of the best in history vingegaard vs pogacar and about the debate of who is better between vingegaard and pogacar if it is for pure talent pogacar its the best in the world above vingegaard but if you analyze it grand tours I think vingegaard its the best grand tour rider in the world above pogacar
Maybe...Pogo doesn't have the team depth, crap bikes, and doesn't center his year around the TdF
@@veganpotterthevegan Tour de France is the main goal for Pogacar in every season.
@@HolgerDanske874 never said it's not. But he doesn't center his entire season around it like Jonas does
@@HolgerDanske874 find me a GT contender in recent history that's attacked the classics the way Pogo does.

@@veganpotterthevegan Find me a GT contender in recent history who have the same abilities as Pogacar in the classics ... I'll wait... forever for your answer.
Great video Scott!
Pogacar, I believe is the better all around cyclist. But, vingegaard is an amazing climber and time trialist. Those two attributes can win grand tours. Pogacar, though has amazing burst of speed.
Thanks.. absolutely loved it.. but sorry background music is little louder..
Sorry for that I will reduce it next time
I am very curious about the data source of the VO2max, just want to know.😊
112 VO2 max? Come on, be serious. With a score like that he'd drop every single rider on every single 5-10 minute climb. Plus, that would make it 15% better score than any other person tested, ever. All in all, extremely unlikely. Even more so after one of the TJV directors said that 97 number is bs
112 is bullshit lol
The 97 VO2 was when he was junior rider. It is crazy😮
The VO2 max number is not necessarily fake. Although I do tend to think that this number is slightly exaggerated. However, In pro cycling, after around 80-90 VO2 Max. Other factors become the dominating limiting factors like lactate threshold, muscular recruitment and recovery. The like of Lance and other GC riders were able to win despite having VO2 Max around 80-90 (not mythically high). So being 112 VO2 Max does not really represent his climbing prowess.
It is quite realistic. He had the 2. highest ever measured as young as 16. But maybe not 112 now but the cycling champs has their numbers secret when they turn pro it is a too important reveal that makes it possible to claculate exactly how much you need to attack etc. for competitors. Just like they keep their Watts secret.
Im also quite sure in the doping era they had a lot higher VO2maxes than any recorded ones simply due to epo.
@@artie8561 Lance did not have a Vo2 max of 80 when he was on the juice I can assure you. This is before he was doped. They dont reveal their real numbers. There are formulas for this stuff. And Pantani might have had one up in the 120's in 1994,1995
I use vpn all the time abroad especially if I’m in a country I don’t understand the language!!!!!
Red Blood Cells
112? Are you trippin? 😂
You are clueless if you think a VO2max of 112 is possible
you might be clueless though. Tell me your experience in testing VO2max. You can litterly calculate Vo2max from watts pr kg. The pros dont reveal their VO2maxes.
@@TellusJD bro you can't be serious, calculating vo2 from w/kg😂. It's actually a very easy test, do a ramp test, and then measure the amount of oxygen and co2 with a face mask. The machine will measure the amount of oxygen consumed, divide with body mass, and you have your vo2max. Plus high vo2max it not the only property of good endurance athletes, so someone with a vo2max of 90 isn't necessary better than someone with 89.
@@messifan1065 Please don't confuse Vingegaard's sycophants with your rationality.
@@messifan1065 Well you know how its measured yes. But you dont know its direct correlation to watts pr. kg. A vo2 max is a max. Its your max potential, you train to fullfill the potential the better and consistent training gets the muscles up to par of the VO2max. Vo2max is directly translatable to how much power input you can do = watts pr. kg you can take a watt pr. kg and see how much O2 intake was needed to produce the power. O2 over the given period.
You can keep saying are u kidding but it doesn't sound like you actually dont know what you are talking about.
Taking Jonas Vingegaards climb at stage 16 in the tdf TT.
Or his ascension of Itzua in tour of Basque, Or his solo ride on puerto de bejes in the vuelta. He gives a watts pr. kg of 7,4 for 12-14 minutes in all those climbs. This estimates to 116 VO2max. And pogacar for sure also has a high one. There are a few sources of error margins the main one is we dont have the direct data. But they cant be that far off within 5% at max error margin we have 3 different climbs with very similar performances. Giving the VO2max from watts pr kg. error margin we might go as high as 7% error margin in worst case. But that still makes him above a 100 vo2max He is somewhere between 105-120 Vo2max.
You can quite precisely calculate a max benchpress from what you can bench in 10 reps the absolute same way as you can calculate Vo2max from watts pr. kg.
But you can keep up with your Bro! are u smoking stuff if you want to think you are the expert and know what can and cannot be done.
the 90s era had VO2maxes way beyond anything ever revealed. Pantani probably had a VO 2 max north of 135 around the 1994-1995 season.
@@TellusJD it's not directly correlated to power output, where did you get that info from? Power is also produced without oxygen, so vo2max is not the only indicator of performance.
Insha Allah he's going to win 🏆 7 tour de france
Weird, they told me my VO2 max was 'green'....?

Insha Allah jonasvingagaar is going to win 🏆 the toure de france 2024
Go go go go go go vingegaard may Allah be with you 🙏

Great stage racer only.
One of the greatest if not the greatest stage racer ever... Everyone can only dream about that.
He's only won two GT. He therefore is not the greatest GT rider. Many ahead of him ATM.@@KnowIt74
Great over 3 weeks? I bet there are flat stages in the Tour de France, hilly stages, semi mountain stages, mountain stages, high mountain stages, time trials, cross wind etc. Yeah, Vingegaard can do it all.
That totally destroyed the GOAT Tadej Pogi lol two years straight. Pogi fans must be so distraught to have their hero demolished to the point where he cried out, “I’m gone, I’m dead!” 😂
Pogacar is the better all round cyclist. This evidenced by his palmares.
Pog bonked/cracked without input from Fishboy.@@luiscolon921
Why do you use these VO2max scores? Zeeman already said that 97 number is likely fake/incorrect. That he has never seen anyone with more than 92, only heard about one with a higher score, but couldn't really believe it. Highest ever measured in the team was high in the 80's according to Zeeman. Based on this it is likely than Jonas score is somewhere between 85 and 90 imo. He also said that you need to take these numbers with a grain of salt regardless, because it can really depends on the test circumstances and is pretty easily manipulated, so you essentially need to make comparison between numbers measured under similar test conditions.
He was tested twice in Denmark, once when he was still at school, and once when he was with Coloquick ; both times he broke the records of the test center ; his dad said the 1st time they thought the machine was broken (when he was recorded at 97) ; the 2nd time he was 15% higher than the average of danish pro riders (he wasn’t a pro himself)
You can believe that whatever his VO2 max is, it’s one of the highest of the peloton
@@annegkst8266 I have no doubt it is one of the highest of the peloton, might be the highest Jumbo has ever measured (the "high 80's" Zeeman mentioned). It is just that the 97 doesn't make sense knowing all the information:
- what Zeeman said
- the fact he isn't officially recorded as having the 2nd highest VO2max, which imo would definitely have happened if that number was correct.
- 2nd center 15% over the average is definitely not close to 97, otherwise the average of the danish pro riders would be 84, which already is really high (again considering that TJV highest ever was high 80's)
- that his dad is the only source for the 97 number makes it also less credible.
@@MDP1702 maybe his dad remembered wrongly, but the fact it wasn’t published publicly must have to do with the fact they were testing a class of kids, for the school ; the results were still made known to cycling teams, since it’s what pushed Coloquick to immediately sign him… Zeeman said that the results depend on various factors, and you can only compare tests done at the same test center, that’s why the number in itself doesn’t mean anything inside the peloton…
@@annegkst8266 Pretty sure they'd have asked permission for it if it indeed was such a high (objectively speaking) number. Or at least asked him later to do it again.
Yes, because of Zeeman saying that, the 97 number shouldn't be used, rather just talk about a 'high number/vo2max'.
How to do it? Get a good doctor. 😂
All the good teams have good doctors
How does he do it? The special TJV program....in 3 years from zero to hero....and a lot of super hard climbs in DK to train on while cleaning fishes....its a fairytale...
Oh, so in the same way as Pogacar, Evenepoel etc. does it. Thanks.
Bullshit argument don't ask find out yourself by studying his career there are plenty explanations. People dont need to explain why you think they are cheating.
From zero to hero, you have no clue. Jonas has shown talent from his teens above anyone there was a reason he was picked up by TJV.
It wasn't just 3 years
Zero? He set the record on a Well known training mountain
You dont know anything of flatterende denmark , he gas to ride the wind thats never under 10 m in second that makes it up for mountain

Just like Pogacar, Evenepoel, Roglic, Van der Poel, Van Aert etc.
yeah I can tell you watch durian. The thing is he would not be able to tell a doper from a non doper. He just spouts out old facts and is stuck in the armstrong era.
If you know a bit about testing you know its not possible and way too risky for any form of EPO. at anytime of the year.

@@TellusJD funny that you mentioned Armstrong, who’s guilt was determined NOT BY TESTING but by a disgruntled federal whistleblower and witness depositions under a federal grand jury.
If you think doping can’t stay a step ahead of testing you’re living in a fantasy world.
In addition, do you really believe that race organizers and other sport authorities really give a flying crap? Major League Baseball was literally SAVED by the home run drama between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire… both doped to the gills but bringing in massive viewers in the wake of the extremely unpopular players strike in the mid-90’s.
Recent cycling has been entertaining as hell… why blow open a good thing and risk ushering in an era of clean but boring racing?
As Durian would say: “Dreamin.”
It sure looks like the Lance Armstrong days to me, his TT was the last straw for me. Winning all three tours, plus 1-2-3 at the Tour of Spain seems unbelievable! 112 VO Max??
Yeah a vo2max that high is other worldly- its more then what contador would have had to have for his climbing performances and we all know where that comes from. At the end of the day it all comes down to pro athletes doing pro athletes things
Jonas is still 1 min slower up D'huez than Armtrong's slowest TdF time and 1m30s slower than his best. Whatever they're doing, it's not very effective.
Good, try curling. Probably suits you better.
@@abcD-wf9yr yeah he had that at 16 on clublevel dream about drugs all you want but there is no way he was doped when that was tested he was not even close to proffesional at that point.
@@brippiedisk brakes are heavier ofc 🤥
He is superb. In grand tours he can be dominant. To leap from this to “one of the greatest cyclists of all time” is at this time absurd. Pogacar is more likely to become one since he has already won a few monuments. Remember, Merckx won Milan San Remo seven times. The Dane will likely never win one.😊
You do know winning a monument isn’t necessarily required to become a legend right ? He can break records on GTs ; doing TDF-Vuelta in itself is extraordinary, only 3 people have managed it
Who cares about one day races when you can win the by far biggest race in cycling?
It doesn't only rely on what he wins, I think most people find him un-charismatic and maybe difficult to get behind or relate to in terms of a Patron/Champion.
Speak for yourself.
@@HolgerDanske874 I was, but being a Dane yourself, your hardly unbiased 🤣 but that's why I said MOST people obviously excluding other equally un-charismatic Danes! :) (that's a joke!).
@@stuartwalker6786 Nah, you spoke for everyone and you shouldn't do that. You're a butt hurt Pogacar fan, but not everyone is like you. Also, listen to Kuss' interview about how Vingegaard is leading to team compared to a rider like Roglic.

Actually watch and try to understand the video.... I am correct in saying it is not only the races he wins that fans will consider him a champion...and how fans connect with him as a rider IS important, I appreciate him as an athlete, but don't find him charismatic (a reason Pinot is so well loved, yet nowhere as successful as Vingegaard!). Froome won more TDF's than LeMond, but I'd wager most (or am I speaking for EVERYONE again?) fans would consider LeMond a more complete rider and more a 'champion' ....Your Pogacar comment shows more about YOU, you are just ASSUMING I'm a fan of Pogacar, maybe you're just a Butt Hurt Dane...stop Projecting!🤣
@@stuartwalker6786 Nah, you're trying to speak on behalf of everyone. Speak for yourself and you can have whatever opinon you'd like. It's very cringe when someone is forcing his own opinion on everyone else. It isn't that hard to understand, but maybe you're blinded by extreme fandom of Pogacar.
Great, great cyclists but not one of the greats yet. Besides the one day monuments, he obviously doesn't have the bike handling skills of many greats. , in fact he even has trouble riding with no hands;-P
Have you watched a bike race ever? Have you watched the Tour in recent years? Because if you had, you wouldn't perpetuate this narrative on bike handling skills. At several points last year as well as this year, you could see, that Vingegaard handled his bike better than Pogacar. But of course you could claim, that Pogacar is really bad at handling his bike or the whole peloton are pretty lacklustre bike handlers.
2 situations to prove my point; who crashed when they were trying to drop eachother on the descents in 2022? Pogacar. And who aggressively attacked every corner and every angle and took the lines closest to the edge in the TT in 2023? Vingegaard.
