Thank you Scott for another great video and Jonas Vingegaard is a true gentleman. I will never forget when he was interviewed after a race in June Jonas focused on the tragic event in France when 4 children were knife attached in a playground rather than his cycling. in my opinion At present I think there is no discussion vingegaard its the best climber in the world above others like pogacar and roglic They are very good in the mountains, they have shown it in recent years. but I think vingegaard it's on another level I honestly think vingegaard it's a figure media that for the world of cycling It's very good because if it weren't there we are not witnessing what for me It is the best rivalry in cycling today and one of the best in history vingegaard vs pogacar and about the debate of who is better between vingegaard and pogacar if it is for pure talent pogacar its the best in the world above vingegaard but if you analyze it grand tours I think vingegaard its the best grand tour rider in the world above pogacar

112 VO2 max? Come on, be serious. With a score like that he'd drop every single rider on every single 5-10 minute climb. The VO2 max number is not necessarily fake. Although I do tend to think that this number is slightly exaggerated. However, In pro cycling, after around 80-90 VO2 Max. Other factors become the dominating limiting factors like lactate threshold, muscular recruitment and recovery. The like of Lance and other GC riders were able to win despite having VO2 Max around 80-90 (not mythically high). So being 112 VO2 Max does not really represent his climbing prowess.

@@TellusJD bro you can't be serious, calculating vo2 from w/kg😂. It's actually a very easy test, do a ramp test, and then measure the amount of oxygen and co2 with a face mask. The machine will measure the amount of oxygen consumed, divide with body mass, and you have your vo2max. Plus high vo2max it not the only property of good endurance athletes, so someone with a vo2max of 90 isn't necessary better than someone with 89.

@@messifan1065 Well you know how its measured yes. But you dont know its direct correlation to watts pr. kg. A vo2 max is a max. Its your max potential, you train to fullfill the potential the better and consistent training gets the muscles up to par of the VO2max. Vo2max is directly translatable to how much power input you can do = watts pr. kg you can take a watt pr. kg and see how much O2 intake was needed to produce the power. O2 over the given period.
You can keep saying are u kidding but it doesn't sound like you actually dont know what you are talking about.
Taking Jonas Vingegaards climb at stage 16 in the tdf TT.
Or his ascension of Itzua in tour of Basque, Or his solo ride on puerto de bejes in the vuelta. He gives a watts pr. kg of 7,4 for 12-14 minutes in all those climbs. This estimates to 116 VO2max. And pogacar for sure also has a high one. There are a few sources of error margins the main one is we dont have the direct data. But they cant be that far off within 5% at max error margin we have 3 different climbs with very similar performances. Giving the VO2max from watts pr kg. error margin we might go as high as 7% error margin in worst case. But that still makes him above a 100 vo2max He is somewhere between 105-120 Vo2max.
You can quite precisely calculate a max benchpress from what you can bench in 10 reps the absolute same way as you can calculate Vo2max from watts pr. kg.
But you can keep up with your Bro! are u smoking stuff if you want to think you are the expert and know what can and cannot be done.
the 90s era had VO2maxes way beyond anything ever revealed. Pantani probably had a VO 2 max north of 135 around the 1994-1995 season.

Why do you use these VO2max scores? Zeeman already said that 97 number is likely fake/incorrect. That he has never seen anyone with more than 92, only heard about one with a higher score, but couldn't really believe it. Highest ever measured in the team was high in the 80's according to Zeeman. Based on this it is likely than Jonas score is somewhere between 85 and 90 imo. He also said that you need to take these numbers with a grain of salt regardless, because it can really depends on the test circumstances and is pretty easily manipulated, so you essentially need to make comparison between numbers measured under similar test conditions.

He was tested twice in Denmark, once when he was still at school, and once when he was with Coloquick ; both times he broke the records of the test center ; his dad said the 1st time they thought the machine was broken (when he was recorded at 97) ; the 2nd time he was 15% higher than the average of danish pro riders (he wasn’t a pro himself)

@@annegkst8266 I have no doubt it is one of the highest of the peloton, might be the highest Jumbo has ever measured (the "high 80's" Zeeman mentioned). It is just that the 97 doesn't make sense knowing all the information:
      - what Zeeman said
      - the fact he isn't officially recorded as having the 2nd highest VO2max, which imo would definitely have happened if that number was correct.
      - 2nd center 15% over the average is definitely not close to 97, otherwise the average of the danish pro riders would be 84, which already is really high (again considering that TJV highest ever was high 80's)
      - that his dad is the only source for the 97 number makes it also less credible.
