    YAAAAAAYYYYY!! Thank you!!! Also, Smaller players have a smaller wing span than taller players, so we have a smaller digging footprint. So what would be a stretch for a taller person, a shorter person actually has to move their feet to get. And to go from digging hard cross to running for the cut is so difficult. I don't know... read earlier maybe??

    I started "playing" volleyball 4 years ago at age 25 because I moved to Long Island and my boyfriend played so much. Volleyball was not very common where I grew up. I knew if I got good enough we would be able to play together and I wouldn't have to sit out and spectate so much (although I love watching him play). We mostly play co-ed on a men's height and get so frustrated that I can't score. I found this video to be very helpful to help me develop more of an "offense". Thank you!!

I play with some women who are about 5’ 3”, barely jump, but have the best wrist snap and can hit with pace on a men’s net! How can I improve my jumping?

  • @slimlim3591
    @slimlim3591 9 месяцев назад

    I'm not a great player by any metric but the usage of depth for a shorter player is a must. I'm 5'6". Start off with dinks and cuts to make the defense creep forward and then deep rolls to the corners. If they try to block, cuts and rolls. Rinse and repeat. Definitely take a peek at the defense before making a decision. Physically I'm on the back foot as I am vertically challenged and not a great jumper so generally both opposition will sit back off the net. If only I watched this video early on and didn't spend years figuring this out trial and error

    • @fredDeclerck
      @fredDeclerck 3 года назад +1

      like me a few years back..
      Sorry if im stating the obvious here:
      Definitely need to work on all the shots you can, cut, jumbo, drop. ALso, play these various shots without showing where you are going, or exaggerate facing one way and hit another (and wrist away ).
      Also, if they consistently don't block you, then ask for tighter sets (which hopefully you can slam), so they feel the need to stay and block too.
      May be 3rd, start using your weaker hand, you ll be amazed how many points you can get at least % wise, as they are expecting you to hit the ball with the other. Typically though, I only decide to use my left a split second before the contact.
      Another point, which is not for practicing for tournaments, and if the other players are also shorter & older, then dropping the net 1 inch or 2 can be an option. Every inch matters, and the game is (completely) different if the majority of the time, you have the option to hit or shoot vs. having to shoot only. Either that or playing somewhere else where the sand is not as deep.

      the best subtitute to spiking that I found helpfull is hitting a flat hard drive ball close to the top of the net.

    Addition to my prior comment: As a short person, if i stay too far behind the ball, i notice i tend to hit the ball into the net more as the location of where my hand contacts the ball is further back behind the ball as opposed.to under.it and the trajectory is more forward. . So shouldnt a short person NEED to be just a smigion little bit under the ball, at least more so than a taller person? Not 180 degrees under or doing a backbend to contact the ball, but more so than a tall person would?

One of the biggest reasons a lot of players don't reach their potential, is that they look at players and athletes who look NOTHING LIKE THEM! In our Attack Training Program and Fix Your Arm Swing in 21 Days, use live zoom coaching meetings and YOUR video to show you what type of offense YOU need. Everyone should have their own style and too many players choose an offense that simply does not fit them...
