The mere fact these actors kept a straight face while delivering their lines is astonishing . I wouldn't be able to perform without laughing my ass off.
Before interviewing Mimi DuJour the showgirl, she says "Just a minute while I change." She walks behind her dressing screen and when she comes back, it's a different red haired actress for the rest of the episode. Took me a couple of viewings to catch it. That's some next level humor right there.
I love the little running gag they did in the epilogue of each show: "I guess he'll be doing his [WHATEVER] up at the Stateville Prison, along with [EVER-LENGTHENING LIST OF VILLAINS FROM THE PREVIOUS EPISODES]."
My favourite is in an episode where Drebben and Norberg are undercover as locksmiths. They get into the suspects house but he comes home early; “Who are you and how did you get in?” Drebben; “I’m a locksmith and I’m a locksmith.”
My father and I watched this while I was recovering from a car accident and we loved it. It's strange that it was only 6 episodes. It seems like we watched this for months! Of course, I was high on pain pills, but still. So many actors with excellent deliveries, but Leslie was the master.
Honestly I’ve just practically been crying watching this, absolutely love it! 😂😂 It’s almost a travesty that they don’t make shows like Police Squad anymore, bloody fantastic! 👏
"That evening we caught Mimi Dejour's show at the club Flamingo. We hoped to talk with her would be half as revealing as her act." Absolutely priceless!
My favourite scene has always been when Frank offers a cigarette to someone during the questioning, and they reply, "Yes, I know!" with Frank saying in astonishment " Well..." before putting them back.
Still to this day, the funniest show ever on tv. Loved every minute but my favorites were the fake freeze at the end of each show and the into where the special guest star would always get killed and the announced title was different than what was on screen.
I used to watch this way back in the day. One of my favorite scenes was when Frank was getting information from a sho shine guy. The informant wouldnt answer a question unless Frank gave him money. Every time the informant answered a question Frank paid him some money after three questions the informant asked Frank a question and had to give Frank money before Frank would answer. It is funnier than I'm explaining I'm sure.
The scene where he's headed into a club or bar and the lady running the coat check asks: "May I check your coat?" "Yes" *Turns around, she applies a big check mark with a giant sharpie to his coat* It's so bad, it's folded in on itself and it's amazing.
"ok, boys, run her in" ---> they literally run her in xD Also, it's not in this compilation but another funny scene was when frank says "I had a hunch back at the office", and then a hunchback guy pops out of the car LMAO ... Or when his partner says "Sargent, take her away and book her!", and then Frank shakes the hands of Sargents Takeheraway and Bookher :))
After having known the Police Squad, Airplane and the Naked Gun series, whenever I re-watch Leslie appearing in two episodes of Columbo (Lady in Waiting, Identity Crisis) in the 70's, I unconsciously expect him starting something crazy seriously and feel somewhat uneasy😅😂
You can never fully appreciate this great series if you didn't grow up with late 60s/early 70s shows by Quinn Martin Productions, which all had the "...in color" taglines and the "Tonight's Episode..." announcer!
"They found a ransom note. I sent it to the lab for analysis. They want a million dollars." "Why does the lab want a million dollars." "The kidnappers want a million dollars, Frank."
I liked the thing where they got on the elevator to discuss the case and various weirdos would get on and off the elevator. Made it nearly impossible to track what they were talking about.
Fabulous just fab 👍 nobody can do straight faced hilarious side-splitting comedy like Frank... I loved the theme music 🎶, sounded like Mike Hammer, set the tone of this great comedy series...
Some of these jokes go by so quick. Like "My name is Sergeant Frank Drebin, Detective-Lieutenant, Police Squad." I watched this clip like 3 times before that one landed on me.
My favorite "Police Squad" line: "We know this is a difficult time for you. We would have come earlier, but your husband wasn't dead then."
The Japanese garden gag had me rollin'!
Imagine getting your show cancelled because it's too funny.
" Is this some kind of bust?"
"Yeah, it's impressive but we would like to ask you a couple of questions too". Leslie was a genius 🤣🤣🤣
The show lasted only six episodes, in 1982. WAY ahead of its time. So glad they decided to try again with the films.
The mere fact these actors kept a straight face while delivering their lines is astonishing . I wouldn't be able to perform without laughing my ass off.
Wow, the "cafeteria" gag was priceless. I have forgotten more than I can remember about this hysterical show.
"What do I do?"
"Well, as I understand it, you're in the textile business."
😂😂😂

"Is THIS some kind of Bust?" "Yes, it's very Impressive, but we'd just like to ask you a few questions!" CLASSIC!
I love the little running gag they did in the epilogue of each show: "I guess he'll be doing his [WHATEVER] up at the Stateville Prison, along with [EVER-LENGTHENING LIST OF VILLAINS FROM THE PREVIOUS EPISODES]."
"Cigarette?"
"Yes, it is."
The non-freeze freeze-frames for the end credits always get me.
Sergeant Frank Drebin, Detective Lieutenant...
gets me every time!
Damn, that Japanese Garden gag had me rollin’! 😂😂😂
The fact there was only 6 episodes and I've seen "best scene" compilations with very different scenes is a testament.
“Who are you? How did you get here?”
“I’m a locksmith, and I’m a locksmith “

If not for the Naked Gun movies, I would have never knew about this show.
My mom and I watched this when it first aired... Laugh so hard and then smile the rest of the day thinking of her.
My father and I watched this while I was recovering from a car accident and we loved it. It's strange that it was only 6 episodes. It seems like we watched this for months! Of course, I was high on pain pills, but still. So many actors with excellent deliveries, but Leslie was the master.
"I suppose, if they do learn. We'd be outta the job." *laughing hysterically*
"Just in time, Eddie"
"Piece of cake, Lieutenant" (while holding some cake)
"No thanks, I just ate"
😆
“Okay boys run her in “ 😂
4:59
"What do I do?"
"Well, as I understand, you're in the textile business."
lol the japanese garden best comedy show ever love it
Honestly I’ve just practically been crying watching this, absolutely love it! 😂😂 It’s almost a travesty that they don’t make shows like Police Squad anymore, bloody fantastic! 👏
"That evening we caught Mimi Dejour's show at the club Flamingo. We hoped to talk with her would be half as revealing as her act." Absolutely priceless!
Personally, I think Police Squad is the greatest thing that comedy has ever created, Mel Brooks films are a close second
You can see every gag from five miles away. It’s brilliant!
I want some of Frank's "decaffeinated" coffee!
Deadpan humour works best with serious characters in a wacky world.
And Leslie Nielsen is a master.
What do you mean by "greatest scenes"? The whole show was nothing but greatest scenes ever!
We need more comedies like this!!! I miss this kind of humor...
This actor doesn't get enough credit for the delivery of 5:28
"And when this whole thing blows over, we'll return Terry's ear, if she's still alive."
"ok boys, run her in"4:13-20,and they literally do it🤣🤣🤣🤣,my ribs
My favourite scene has always been when Frank offers a cigarette to someone during the questioning, and they reply, "Yes, I know!" with Frank saying in astonishment " Well..." before putting them back.
-Who are you and how did you get in?
-I'm a locksmith and I'm a locksmith.
The amount of jokes in this show is enough to fill an entire script… oh wait
Exquisitely written, and delivered perfectly.
Still to this day, the funniest show ever on tv. Loved every minute but my favorites were the fake freeze at the end of each show and the into where the special guest star would always get killed and the announced title was different than what was on screen.
As a Brit the humour in these programmes were so spot on 🙂
I preferred the TV series over the movies. The production values mimicked so closely the shows it was parodying.
Good ole slapstick comedy Leslie Nielsen pure Gold 😊😊

R.I. P. to a legend. Sleep well.
“Cigarette?”
“Yes, I know.”
Those big, sleazy horn lines when he's driving past...I don't know why, but it cracks me up every time.
"ok, boys, run her in" ---> they literally run her in xD

love the chimpanzee going crazy during the freeze frame lol
The Japanese garden 🤣
Miss Leslie so dang much.
All the shows were great! Geniuses were at work creating these masterpieces.
his stand up act almost like Rodney's 😂
This show lasted only six episodes and yet spawned three movies, that says something
Learning to deliver comedy deadpan is a hard talent to learn. Leslie made it look effortless
I loved this series.
Omg, I forgot about Leslie Nielsen for the longest time. So many great memories of sitting with my uncles and aunts laughing our asses off at him.
I can simply get a chuckle out of overly simplified door texts saying "THE LAB" its Live action Luney tunes man.
Fantastic TV series. Way ahead of it's time.
Loved the Red Rock adverts with Leslie Nielsen in his Frank Drebin character. It's not Red and there's no Rocks in it.
After having known the Police Squad, Airplane and the Naked Gun series, whenever I re-watch Leslie appearing in two episodes of Columbo (Lady in Waiting, Identity Crisis) in the 70's,
I unconsciously expect him starting something crazy seriously and feel somewhat uneasy😅😂
Japanese garden just killed me!
the best comedy series.
The buffet! Man, I want such a workplace!
You can never fully appreciate this great series if you didn't grow up with late 60s/early 70s shows by Quinn Martin Productions, which all had the "...in color" taglines and the "Tonight's Episode..." announcer!
“My God, he WAS innocent…!!”
Absolutely brilliant, it always makes me laugh 😂
I pissed myself at the Japanese Garden part 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Japanese Garden!
Brilliant ending!!!
"Who are you? And how did you get in here?"
"I'am locksmith and i'am locksmith"
I often reply to people with "Yes it is"... But the younger generation just dont get it, but i chuckle to myself still.
Japanese garden!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m sure my dad watched this I remember it for some reason. Awesome stuff
The best show ever Police Squad 😁
"Japanese Garden" 😆
Too bad Police Squad only lasted a few episodes. Thank God for the Naked Gun trilogy.
Note the words on the glass panel of the door.
(POLICE is backwards, but SQUAD is forwards.)
Who are you? What are you doing here?
I'm the locksmith. And I'm the locksmith.
What's even funnier than Police Squad is that 6 people gave them a thumb down.
i wish this series wasn't cancelled. it could've had gained a better reputation and i wish netflix would have placed it
the funniest part is how the insanity round them is just taken in stride...
Omg this is too funny. I want you to nose around and keep an eye out for the ear.
just noticed he goes through a red light at the beginning LOL!
Ita time to do a reboot of police squad....2022 version 👍
When I see Leslie Nielsen I press faster than fast
The show was better than the films.
"They found a ransom note. I sent it to the lab for analysis. They want a million dollars."
"Why does the lab want a million dollars."
"The kidnappers want a million dollars, Frank."
I liked the thing where they got on the elevator to discuss the case and various weirdos would get on and off the elevator. Made it nearly impossible to track what they were talking about.
7:37 Brilliant!
despite the monkeying around it only lasted six episodes. Ah well accidents happen.
Fabulous just fab 👍 nobody can do straight faced hilarious side-splitting comedy like Frank... I loved the theme music 🎶, sounded like Mike Hammer, set the tone of this great comedy series...
Anyone that watched this & didn't give it a like should be banned from laughing for life!
Controversial opinion: Police Squad is better than Naked Gun!
Some of these jokes go by so quick. Like "My name is Sergeant Frank Drebin, Detective-Lieutenant, Police Squad."
I watched this clip like 3 times before that one landed on me.
"Thank you, Miss Decker. We think we know how how he did it."
"Oh, Howie couldn't have done it. He hasn't been in for weeks."
"...Well."
Come back comedy needs you ❤️
