One of my top 5 songs. I was crying, when they played this song on December concert, cause I thought it was down in the archives. Seeing this live was life changing moment.

In a world of fandoms, and where things for fashion are exploited, it is a joy that Nightwish has such a personal audience, and massive of course... It's a communion, we go to see them to give them our love, and they return it with you grow, it is as you say, it is the sincerity in their way of interpreting, they are really grateful to their people, and they try to give them everything they love, they leave 100% on stage, and then there is the musical part and the genius of tuomas.. Well done- I did not notice the Tubular Bells vibe until you pointed it out. Nor did I appreciate Troy blending with Emppu. I thought it was cute how Emppu was so careful to make sure the fan got his guitar pick. I researched and found Floor's daughter was born March 2017. I believe this show was March 2016, so unless Valkyries have a different gestational period then mortals, no. I remember listening to the instrumental version of this song (and the whole album) a ton as a teen. This song especially was like a drug for my imagination. I do wish Troy could be seen & heard in more videos, he’s such a talented musician. Such a perfect addition to Nightwish! Also, today I read online that Marko is coming out of retirement! Whatever he chooses to do will be amazing, but I would love to see him come back to Nightwish. He & Floor sound so amazing together.
Maybe you would like to check out this rarity. One of the rare ballads written by Tuomas and a song that is entirely in Finnish. Tarja shines in this one. Pronounciation of the language is rather difficult, so for a finn, other versions are a bit painful to hear. This is propably the one Nightwish song that has most cover versions in YT. Kuolema tekee taiteilijan (Death makes the artist) ruclips.net/video/gu9wdcuL88M/видео.html
Saw a great & very recent version of this song, where Yannis Papadopoulos joined Floor on stage: "Nightwish feat. Yannis Papadopoulos Sahara live 21.12.2022 Prague". Not the whole song and a fan video alas, but man.. the power between the two of them, vocal acrobatics squared and topped with a heartwarming embrace was something to behold. Wish I'd been at that concert, but hey.. the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome gig wasn't bad either, with Henk Poort joining NW for a fantastic Phantom. Make sure to watch the official live premiere of that gem tomorrow. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
lyrics A ballad of dark queen echoes through night As he flees the curse of gods, the pharaoh`s wrath. [Chorus:] One thousand one nights unseen, The philosopher and the queen. Ancient mariner in a sea of sand, The burning beauty his tomb to die for. [Chorus] (Horizon`s swarming with death Run!) Heaven has a darkened face, Dunes are soaring as on a chase. Caravan of the cursed Chasing him across the waves. May he now rest under aegis of mirage As the sands slowly turn to Elysian fields. [Chorus] (One thousand one) [Chorus] (One thousand one) (One thousand one) (One thousand one)
This is one of my favorites! As per usual, agree fully with everything you said! Now, Floor was preggers during 2016, they announced they were expecting on 18 September 2016 (I just looked it up for you lol). Freja was born on 15 March 2017 - the Ides of March. But, I don't know the date of this performance so I'm not sure if she would be showing yet or not. I know that when preggers with my kids, I simply looked like I ate way too much for dinner until about 5 months. Lol! But I always just had a volleyball tummy at 8 and 9 months. There is also a video of Floor singing in Finland's yearly Heavy Christmas show while very pregnant and she blows it out of the water with some operatic singing. Knowing how uncomfortable one is at that stage in pregnancy, and how hard it is to breathe while at rest, it shows just how much power and expertise Floor has to sing that as pregnant as she was! It's truly amazing! I think it's Oh Holy Night, but in Finnish. In the everyday, Floor has very visible and superb use of her diaphragm in her singing, so with the ruffles on her shirt, it could be just her breathing that you are seeing from the upward angle. It just depends on the date this show was performed if you're spot on, or if it's her excellent breathing techniques! You know, Eric - I think the love of Spam is a military thing, especially in our generation. My hubby is ex-military, and he keeps Spam and canned Corned Beef Hash in the house. Don't mess with his Spam & hash!!!! Haha! Another commenter said after living off MREs Spam is delicious haha! I read that to my hubby, he laughed and said "well, pretty much!" Thanks for sharing your thoughts and expertise on music, Eric! It's most appreciated! And as per usual, brevity is still not a friend of mine lol! Hope you and your boys are more than well! As always, sending blessings from me & my family to you & yours🙏🏻🇺🇲😊🤘🏻
Hey Eric. Love how you react and break down the entire show during your analysis. You are so correct. My wife, Carol, and I got a chance to travel from Phoenix to see them live at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on May 18th, 2022. What an incredible show at one of these intimate venues. It is so special. I also like how you note that Floor has hit a peak and has maintained it for years. The energy resonates through the band and explodes into the audience. BTW, the wonderfully remastered video and audio (60 FPS | High Bit Rate... props to Remastercide for the amazing quality) of the entire nighttime concert at the Deichbrand 2022 Festival is amazing. You might think that Floor is pregnant here, but that can't be the case, because this concert was already held on March, 23th 2016. Although it is undeniable that Floor still gave concerts while she was already very pregnant (for example the RUclips videos @ Raskasta Joulua in December 2016) she was less than 8 months pregnant at the time. Calculating back from the end of December minus 7 months, she only became pregnant in May of that year with her and Hannes' daughter Freja, who was born in early 2017.
Great reaction & analysis as always, Im enjoying NW since 2003, and actually Emppu's guitar in Sleeping sun got me into this amazing band. I use to switch this song's intro and other NW songs as my ringphone. 🎶
Speaking if Floor and peaking...I don't think that's ever gonna happen. However... I hope y'all check out Nightwish's upcoming premiere, live video of Floor and Henk Poort, in Amsterdam last month... they perform the *Nightwish version* of Phantom of the Opera (made famous by Tarja and Marko)...and, IMO, Floor has a Ghost Love Score *moment* at the last note...this is gonna blow up! I've been sharing fan shot footage of that performance since it was uploaded the date of that concert...I'm SO happy it's gonna go wide!
In December they played this in Prague as a duet of Floor and Yannis, the singer from Beast In Black, who were special guests that night. He has quite a range, so no problem keeping up with Floor. :) It was a lot of fun for everybody. ruclips.net/video/lkD26vLUxKE/видео.html
Great reaction! And thank you David Hill for suggesting Sahara... I like this for many reasons. One being that the tubular bells in the beginning gives me nostalgic flashbacks from the nineties, watching the intro to MacGyver. Also, that chunky chugging in the middle gives me Sad But True vibes.
I asked the same thing about Floor's top; but the time frame is wrong. This had such a great middle eastern vibe. Amazing. I loved Marco's bass line when Floor went high and light, especially the little bass fill he does at 7:29 in your video. Thanks for the breakdown reaction.
Floor Jansen is a fantastic rock and metal singer and she has such a nice range this song has such a deep purple Ronnie James Dio vibe rainbow so good man holy shit this has such a cool middle eastern vibe to it
This was 3 months before Floor became pregnant. Imagine a 6' woman - she is not of slight build in any case. I love this - it's good with Anette and superb with Floor. It's an interesting sound which I suspect is due to the minor intervals - are there lots of tri-tones too? Suspended Pentatonic scale is common in middle Eastern music. See also a very early song, Tutankhamen. Emppu having fun as usual and leaning out to throw picks to the audience. 1503 E 7th Avenue

yeah, your right they never have bad music, and besides being professional and the total package the Emppu makes sure everybody is happy. Floor said she was nervous as hell at Wacken cause she never played to that big an audience before even though you wouldn't know it and our favorite comedian helped LOL. If you watch during "I Want my Tears Back" he's over there plotting with Troy and later on (you have to be quick to spot it) when he crosses behind her he unplugs her earpiece, you can see her reaching behind and looking at him, then when he comes back they make faces at each other and never missed a beat and audience didn't know. And I think it was Tampere ((because of the dress) with those high heels she fell and just got up and made a funny face and didn't miss a beat at the same time putting the audience at ease. I just can't say enough about all this band. Even when they error they are so flawless that it seems normal like with "Kinslayer" I think it was in Mexico or Florida in 2019 I think when around 2;42 of the song Marco says "f**k me" which was his way of chastizing himself and never missed a beat, Someone told me and I didn't believe them cause it seemed to fit so I had to check the lyrics.
I have seen The Grateful Dead & The Who in Essen ,Germany at Rockpalast in 1981. We came with a touringcar from Rotterdam,Netherland and it was unbelievable, everywhere American campers on the parking. I like your reactions.
Tuomas has said in some interviews that he gets questions if he has some rejected songs in his drawer and if he could give them to someone else to use. He answered that there are no such things and if there were, they would be rejected for a reason.
You are not the one and only. You are "The walking one and only" A reference from 'Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks' which you already knew. A local band in the days of San Francisco's psychedelic rock era. "The Dan" was folksy and different and often performed with "It's a Beautiful Day" (White Bird in a Golden Cage)
I concur with all your commentary and analysis. The rare US performance used in a video. You can see some differences from the European and South American shows. Less stage theatrics, but the band still puts on a great show. You might check out the video of the recent performance of Phantom of the Opera, that is being released Friday.
I'm not sure if you watched the 'Making of Endless forms most beautiful' short documentary series or 'Please learn the setlist in 24 h' documentary. We would love to see those again with you.
As Always fantastic how you react and give us a serius reaction on a band, singer enzz you are the Best Reactor on youtube there is, and please everyone just react to this with I CONCUR😁
Great in-depth reaction as per norm 👌, how about reacting to Edema Ruh , acoustic and live on the Baltic princess cruise ship. Just Marco, Kai, Troy and Floor, floor’s singing is just sublime
@@paulmarsh4079 Yup. There's probably half a dozen tracks on that album that I think Eric would be impressed with from a rock radio perspective. "Big Boy" "Storm in a Glass" and "Get What You Give" are three that come to mind. A lot of the songs on the album have a strong bluesy feel to them. In "Big Boy" Floor sounds a lot like another famous American singer, but I'm drawing a complete blank on the name. I think that some fans wouldn't recognize her voice in this one. I think that if Eric listened to the entire album, he'd be asking for a lot of lunch money back.
One of the most impressive things to me about floor is that she kind of never feels like she is singing that great she is her own worst critic and I think that's what drives her...... Because the minute that you think you are great something will put you back in your place and make you feel humble again........ She thinks the opposite ........... And I think that is the driving force behind how much she still practices religiously on her craft......... I truly believe that compliments that are said directly to her make her feel a little awkward..... And even embarrassed........
I've been to concerts starting in 1968 onward. I've seen the best. Floor absolutely has the best stage presence I've ever seen in a frontman/woman bar none. It isn't even close! Ian Anderson comes close though.
As mentioned in the comments, she is not pregnant here: you were just given a view of part of Floor’s mighty instrument, her diaphragm, trained to constantly pump air to her larynx, so it looks she never has to breath😮 And: the cucumber in the pants😂😂
Floor Seams to be Your High Talent "Friend" doing it real. Troy is about the Same. Tuomas the Wizard, Emppu the Jester, Marko the Mistic, Kai the Power Machine. to all else I "ICC"

One oF the most sampled artists ever - Oldfield that is
Maybe you would like to check out this rarity. One of the rare ballads written by Tuomas and a song that is entirely in Finnish. Tarja shines in this one. Pronounciation of the language is rather difficult, so for a finn, other versions are a bit painful to hear. This is propably the one Nightwish song that has most cover versions in YT.

Another masterpiece.
Floor is always smiling. She is just enjoying every moment on the stage, and that makes a huge difference.
lyrics
A ballad of dark queen echoes through night
As he flees the curse of gods, the pharaoh`s wrath.
[Chorus:]
One thousand one nights unseen,
The philosopher and the queen.
Ancient mariner in a sea of sand,
The burning beauty his tomb to die for.
[Chorus]
(Horizon`s swarming with death
Run!)
Heaven has a darkened face,
Dunes are soaring as on a chase.
Caravan of the cursed
Chasing him across the waves.
May he now rest under aegis of mirage
As the sands slowly turn to Elysian fields.
[Chorus]
(One thousand one)
[Chorus]
(One thousand one)
(One thousand one)
(One thousand one)
I read that to my hubby, he laughed and said "well, pretty much!"
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and expertise on music, Eric!
In case you would like to check out some part of that, I have put the links to every song in that setlist below. Thank you again for your wonderful Nightwish live reactions.

This is a favourite. Tones are so rich and the groove is so cool.
Everything in service to the song. Forever Nightwish!
I concur

i concur
@@trinadawn4166 Thanks for the link, Trina! I'm so happy now everyone can see what I've been yapping about since the day of that show!
Great reaction!
Eric,it is every time again a real joy to watch your reaction. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Finally, Eric😀 Next “Getshemane”please☺️
I asked the same thing about Floor's top; but the time frame is wrong. This had such a great middle eastern vibe. Amazing. I loved Marco's bass line when Floor went high and light, especially the little bass fill he does at 7:29 in your video. Thanks for the breakdown reaction.
Kiitos! Great stuff...
I got an old vinyl of Tubular Bells from my dad!
I love this performance, Floor's vocal are indeed in great shape in this track.
Eric you must see Nightwish - Gethsemane (Live Buenos Aires 2019) and Nightwish - Stargazers Live in Tampere!
Floor Jansen is a fantastic rock and metal singer and she has such a nice range this song has such a deep purple Ronnie James Dio vibe rainbow so good man holy shit this has such a cool middle eastern vibe to it
You are teaching me to listen music, that's wonderful🙂
This was 3 months before Floor became pregnant. Imagine a 6' woman - she is not of slight build in any case.
I love this - it's good with Anette and superb with Floor.
It's an interesting sound which I suspect is due to the minor intervals - are there lots of tri-tones too?
Suspended Pentatonic scale is common in middle Eastern music. See also a very early song, Tutankhamen.
Emppu having fun as usual and leaning out to throw picks to the audience.
1503 E 7th Avenue
La Cantata del Diablo (live Mexico 2017) - Mago de Öz----- > just a Master piece
Hijo de la Luna - Stravaganzza

Best front, person ever. If Freddie could have been front man alone we would have a tie.
Like this song. Nice reaction Eric.
Tuomas talked about messing up during a show. He said that it was only being Human!!!
This song is so underrated. 💕
Master!
Tampa says thanks ( kind of 😂😂😂) and its 7th in Ybor...thanks for sharing your insight and another great reaction
@ 6'5 with heels Floor is a beautiful woman and was pregnant. Saw Nightwish last May in LA... Ybor city is a blast.
Eric, thank you so much for the good times with you. Your voice, your analytics, your personality is beautiful. I'm healing. Awesome. Please react to wardruna helvegen, Heilung krigsgaldr and aurora with the seed or murder Song live. These Songs Are different. With attitude, with respect. Please. Thank you so much.
yeah, your right they never have bad music, and besides being professional and the total package the Emppu makes sure everybody is happy.
Did someone mentioned Tubular Bells?😊
Well, tomorrow, the phantom of the opera by Nightwish ft Hank Poort will be aired on RUclips.
Is this one of the few commercial songs that should be played on radio?
You are not the one and only. You are "The walking one and only" A reference from 'Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks' which you already knew. A local band in the days of San Francisco's psychedelic rock era. "The Dan" was folksy and different and often performed with "It's a Beautiful Day" (White Bird in a Golden Cage)
Cool. This NW song took it easy on you for a change. It's good to get a break once in a while 😉
I concur with all your commentary and analysis. The rare US performance used in a video. You can see some differences from the European and South American shows. Less stage theatrics, but the band still puts on a great show. You might check out the video of the recent performance of Phantom of the Opera, that is being released Friday.
So, this concert was on March 23, 2016, and Freja's birthday is March 15, 2017, so, no preggers yet.
I'm not sure if you watched the 'Making of Endless forms most beautiful' short documentary series or 'Please learn the setlist in 24 h' documentary. We would love to see those again with you.
I concur!
I was there,awesome
Nightwish has a Floor, but they certainly don't have a ceiling
Floor had not yet been successfully pollinated at this show. Floor means "Flower" in Dutch.🙂
As Always fantastic how you react and give us a serius reaction on a band, singer enzz you are the Best Reactor on youtube there is, and please everyone just react to this with I CONCUR😁
Not pregnant. She and Hannes waited until the Endless Forms Most Beautiful tour was over to get pregnant.
This band is built of love and poetry not ego.
Great in-depth reaction as per norm 👌, how about reacting to Edema Ruh , acoustic and live on the Baltic princess cruise ship. Just Marco, Kai, Troy and Floor, floor’s singing is just sublime
Great reaction! I highly recommend your next Nightwish song be Edema Rue, live from the Baltic Princess cruise.
BTW, did you ever get any feedback from your radio buddies re: Floor/Nightwish?
It was about Northward wasn't it?
@@billattercliffe8655 😄
This is great song. The album version is also very good
I also like real spam 😂
One of the most impressive things to me about floor is that she kind of never feels like she is singing that great she is her own worst critic and I think that's what drives her...... Because the minute that you think you are great something will put you back in your place and make you feel humble again........ She thinks the opposite ........... And I think that is the driving force behind how much she still practices religiously on her craft......... I truly believe that compliments that are said directly to her make her feel a little awkward..... And even embarrassed........
😁🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯🤘
If the song name is Sahara Tuomas really takes you there....🏜️
I've been to concerts starting in 1968 onward. I've seen the best. Floor absolutely has the best stage presence I've ever seen in a frontman/woman bar none. It isn't even close! Ian Anderson comes close though.
Thanks
Wow Eric you sure do a lot of Nightwish… But I understand my friend it gets the views!
As mentioned in the comments, she is not pregnant here: you were just given a view of part of Floor’s mighty instrument, her diaphragm, trained to constantly pump air to her larynx, so it looks she never has to breath😮
And: the cucumber in the pants😂😂
Under-reacted to song. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Floor Seams to be Your High Talent "Friend" doing it real. Troy is about the Same. Tuomas the Wizard, Emppu the Jester, Marko the Mistic, Kai the Power Machine. to all else I "ICC"
And we still do not hear them on US radio.
Dear Eric, please react to the song Weak Fantasy. It's a treasure I think. Live at Blavala (or sth like that) in 2016. Again thank you for your reactions
He has done Weak Fantasy at Tampere, it is GREAT ruclips.net/video/Sjp7m7c3aYc/видео.html
🤗🍒🤘🏻
Great song...great performance. I know it's about the music guys, but has Floor ever looked sexier than this?...
