  • The videos I did on building HP DL-380 Gen9 servers and my Dell DX-730 servers for warranty parts really played off. Like if you enjoy!

It would be awesome if you could make video playlist for clustering start to finish

I did that already back in the day as a single video. I think last year.

Hi, I currently build a storage array, and found your videos quite interesting, however, since my built will involve internal and external JBOD, what of those boxes would you recommend to use? Your videos shows quite a mix of such ...
    HP D3700
    Dell PowerVault MD1420
    Dell EMC Unity DAE 25
    3PAR 8000
    Netapp DS224C

For housing disks only, I recommend the standard SAS arrays like the Dell EMC or the NetApp array that I did my video on, if you are wanting to a server housing for disk then the Dell R-730 DX 26 disk array is really good. R-720 DX is second best.

@@leadiususa7394 Quick other question, regarding EMC SAE, are there major different hardware version to look for or are they all the same? Further, does it need firmware upgrade ? I tried but really could not find much about this specific enclosure other than very good prices on ebay 🙂

@@marcellinus77 No it is pretty basic really as a protocol. No need for firmware flashing.

@@leadiususa7394 Follow up question, I got an EMC SAE enclosure and a few drives (NETAPP 1.2TB SAS) ... all working extremely well. Here the question, I found that some drives show the blue drive LED normally ON and some normally OFF, however, all flash LED on access similarily. Just the default state is either on or off. Orange LED I can perfectly controll from linux for identifying/showing error state etc. but I did not figure the blue LED. Any knowledge on this?

I have a bunch of CPUs trying to figure it out. What do I need to make a cluster

If you mean for ProxMox clustering, you just need a motherboard with some limited boot disk, RAM 32 GB at least and 8 cores avg. if possible . then have 1 GB or 10 GB NAS for your cluster NFS disk space on the sideline and remember the faster the better on all fronts, like more RAM, SSD disk vsd. spinning disks and so on.
