I always wanted the Eagle when I was young,in die cast.Im 52 now,and I'm getting this.Been building models for years now,so don't know why I never did this ???.
Enjoyed the video.Great instructional narrative.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Ian
Thank you for watching and for all those thumbs up! I hope you get a chance to build the model after all these years.
It was a lot of fun to build and brings back tonnes of good memories every time I see it =D
All the best.
One of my favorite cartoons from childhood: Heckle &
“Deckle.”
😁 And I went through my entire youth without even knowing there was a different pronunciation!
Amazing
Thank you for watching and for taking time to comment! All the best.
This is so cool!! I actually just spotted this kit on amazon (£60) and I would love to buy it but I don't have paints or the skills to use them if I bought them, so I guess there's no point buying the model and building it without painting.
Hey Steve, I'll admit, the painting part of the hobby is what I enjoy the most and is definitely the thing that makes a model more realistic. You might be surprised how far a can of white, black and grey spray paint and some dry pastels for weathering might get you though! Thanks for leaving a comment =)
Great Work
Tnx for the video
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I'm glad you liked it! Take care.
Hello Artic Modeler, really nice work. I've got myself the model. I was a huge fan of the series and i want to try to modeling the eagle. What would you suggest for modeling tools? What would i need? This is the first model i am making? Thank you!
Would be cool to have a bit more detail on some points. I used to model build when I was young, still play with Warhammer 40k stuff, but appreciate the tricks and tips when painting / masking. Good videos though!
Oddly enough, SpaceX has now built the engines for the Eagle. The problem with the ship is that it doesn't have enough space for the LNG required to fly the ship. So a more realistic Eagle would need larger areas for the tanks. The 4 engine pods on the sides would be perfect for scaled down versions of the Raptor engines with vectoring controls. The 4 engines in the back are good to go from SpaceX. So a real Eagle would need to be double in length and as wide as Starship. But, it is a real possibility.
Did you use a base primer on your model or paint it directly with the white color?
Hi Alain! Great to hear from you and I’m glad that you are working on the model! I did prime all the modules with a dusting of badger white primer to make sure the paint didn’t peel with all the masking work. I like this product a lot and it can be painted after just 8 minutes. The product number is Stynylrez SNR-201. I hope you enjoy the build. Take care.
I'm going to buy the XF-21, the XF-2, and the XF-16 to reproduce that diamond white. Have you then airbrushed the model with that paint ? Any dilution ? Thanx
Hey Fabrizio,
I always dilute my Tamiya paints by a ratio of 1:1 with X-20A acrylic thinner. That works well for me with a .5mm needle at a steady 15 psi. But you might have to experiment to find the best mix in your setup.
I hope you have perfect results and have a lot of fun on your build!!
Take care.
@@ArcticModeler Thanx again, and sorry for all my questions 🍻
No problem at all! All the best.
currently doing this build, can you advise where you got the masking kit?
Hey Declan, I ordered mine from culttvman.

Hope you have fun on your build!!
@@ArcticModeler thanks sir
What is the nearest overall colour of the eagle
The paint used was definitely Ford Diamond White, which you can see here: encycolorpedia.com/fcfdf7
I created my own version of it and discuss the formula in the summary video here ruclips.net/video/oSYYtTjKFNY/видео.html
All the best.
Hi
What photo etched for this kit? Thanks
Hello, I used the Paragrafix Eagle photoetch 1:72 kit Para-227.

You’ve done good work. But you should know that you’re describing the wrong scale for the kit and you would miss lead other people buying the photo website for their model. I think what you have is 1/48 scale.
Hi Rick, thanks for watching! The scale of my model is for sure 1:72. Someday I may do the 1:48 scale but the down side of that one is that it takes a lot more room to display the final results. Take care.
@@ArcticModeler My apologies for the missive. But I thought for certain that the photoetch set was larger in your hand.
No worries at all. Thanks for watching.
