First time I've heard a metal singer switch from clean vocals to growling and back again. Brilliant move. Mark my words: others will copy this.
And what about Jinjer?
@@mensogi I was not familiar w/ Jinjer. But now that I've watched a couple of their vids, it's obvious they're not folk metal. How would you characterize them? She does switch from clean to growling, but I don't like their music much nor do I like women growling in general. When the singer is pretty w/ a nice voice and then she comes on like a monster, I find that repulsive. Get a guy in the band to do it and then you can have a beauty and the beast duet.
It's not that uncommon, check Opeth for example
@@renkhan6647 Thanks. Took me a while but I found a cut, Deliverance, where Akerfeldt switched from growl to clean. I find that impressive even tho the music is prog. I really do prefer the folk and black metal genres. Saw a recent song, Sorceress, w/ clean vocals that took the extra step of incorporating the lyrics into the video. Extra points for that.
