Also, make sure to let the art piece dry for a day after applying any spray:)

Thank you sm for your helpful tips about fixing the oil pastels, I didn’t think about how different colours could act with the paper so will have to watch out for that as I’m using watercolour paper as well!
Thanks for your lovely comments about the video as well, appreciate you watching and being here x

Hello again dear Sophy. First of all I want to tell you that I received the two lovely paintings I ordered from your wonderful website. They are truly amazing and I am looking forward to getting them framed as soon as possible. I am so pleased to own a couple of your artworks.thank you do much. x
I love your latest video diary in which you go into details about your website and discuss your paintings that you have uploaded to your online store and am pleased to see you show them in this video. I can certainly help sales by highly recommending them to interested parties.
I think the outfits you wore in this video are classy and especially that white shirt you treated yourself to. I have penchant for long hair and also for hair tied up in a sort of bun like yours. Hope you don't think I'm being too personal, but you did discuss these things too, which is great. It was interesting to see you try out the soft pastels as well and you asked if anyone knew how to secure them to the paper. So the answer to this question is yes!!! Soft pastels can be fixed to paper using a fixative spray. For example: Sennelier Latour Spray!!! This will give a long lasting Matte finish to your artwork. This fixative comes in a spray can available in 400 ml (13.5 Oz Aerosol sprays). Also you can find how to successfully use fixatives by visiting RUclips channel videos on this subject: for example " the correct fixture of pastel pictures". Alternatively you can read an article by Nicki Hilsabeck titled
"How (and When) to use Fixative Sprays on Soft Pastel Paintings". Well that said: I wish you well with your pastel experiments and success with finding and using fixatives to bind your work to the paper surface.
Once again Sophy I thank you for sharing your thoughts, experience and skill as well as your personality likes and dislikes etc., In this video diary. It is a real pleasure to participate in your world. Thank you very much. Take care now as always. Paul.
    🌹 💖👍👍💯🖐️🧹🖼️☕ Cheers!!

Hey Paul, so glad you liked the prints and that they arrived okay! Thanks so much again for purchasing them and supporting my work ❤️
Thanks for the tips about the fixative sprays as well, I didn’t realise sennelier made one but that makes such sense I don’t know why I didn’t think to check that! I’ll have to do a bit of research and make sure I’m getting the right one ☺️ glad you enjoyed the video, thanks as always for watching and leaving your kind comment. I hope you’re having a great week so far and hope you’ve had some sunshine where you are, it’s been lovely and sunny here the last couple of days!

@@sophy333 thanks for your lovely reply too. We had only two days of sunshine and it has been raining or overcast these last two days. By the way Sophy I forgot to mention that you can get these "Latour" Sprays from Amazon and it might be worth having a look in the art section of "The Range" shop, if there is one near you. Take care now. And until next time, happy craft making and painting.

the blue background with the goat makes it feel higher, like it's climbed really high in a tree and is gazing down upon all the mortal souls below
i think Kriksis might've done a video last year about soft pastels and experimenting with various methods (like using them with water, or gum arabic, or some other type of art medium). it is possible to get spray fixative for soft pastels (and i think sennelier do a spray for oil pastels though i've never used it so idk for sure - & i'm pretty sure soft pastels and oil pastels require different type of fixative? so wouldn't use a soft pastel fixative on an oil pastel piece).
one thing you can do if you don't mind it potentially yellowing is fix it with hair spray.
if you want to get a soft pastel fixative, be very very mindful of the safety instructions & there's a type called a workable fixative, so you can spray it over a layer and let it completely dry then go in over it with more layers. this way might possibly let you go over it with charcoals, pastel pencils, or possibly regular pencils though idk for certain, might depend upon the fixative.
good luck & i hope the pastels bring you much joy and adventure as you get to know them better! have a lovely day

Ooh yeah that’s a nice perspective about the blue drawing I hadn’t thought of, thank you!
Thanks for the tips on fixing pastels as well, I’ll have to do some research on what to use with the soft ones vs my other regular oil pastels. Hope you’ve had a wonderful week so far xx
