    I still remember the first time I played Xenoblade Chronicles, and Im not exaggerating, but it was a feeling similar of what I felt with Final Fantasy VII the first time. Just an incredible game.

      It's definitely one of those games. At that point I gave up on jrpgs after the disaster which was 13.. Then at some random day I found a used copy for the wii of xenoblade chronicles and it completely blew me away. It set a new sta Dard for jrps to me and also has proven that there is truely a working modern concept for jrpgs.

    I agree that it's nothing short of remarkable what Monolith Soft achieved with the 2nd and 3rd Xenoblade Chronicles games on Switch. Those games are in an elite upper tier of titles that exploit every bit of the system's power to render things you usually don't see on Switch. There are exceptionally few games that can treat you to more impressive, large scale environments than XBC games. The game worlds and action of XBC 2 and 3 are impressive by the standards of any console, but especially the Switch.
    I feel like Monolith has an upward trajectory right now and feel they could have some more great games in store for the future.

    In 500 years, huh? We really need to start working on core crystal tech so I can become a blade eater, just to be able to witness the rest of this franchise. But 500 is NOT RANDOM at all, I can guarantee you Takahashi went from his piece of fiction being Perfect Works, to setting PW in motion IRL. My man sent a team in Kenya to dig for the Zohar already.

    what sticks out about Monolithsoft for me is how eagerly they really integrate fan and reviewer feedback. you can really tell they go for some adjustments with each sequel and DLC. remember back when they removed the boob slider in XCX and the how they absolutely STACKED XC2?

      @NuiYabuko 28 дней назад +1

      Ffs, that's what you care about? That's what's important?
      I guess they also took the feedback to tone it way down for XC3. Just wished they'd get rid of that megacringey jiggle.

      @FleischmannMVD 28 дней назад

      @@NuiYabuko nah it's just something that always makes me laugh :D. but the same idea of using fan/reviewer feedback is evident in all other aspects of this series is what I was really getting at. By XC3 - the y really got the right balance to battle mechanics to be both approachable to new players while retaining some fun complexities. I also remember an early criticism of XC1 and XCX was that creatures did not really interact with eachother or the environment - but this was done by XC3!

    I've been a fan of Monolith Soft since Baten Kaitos on gamecube. The thing about them that strikes me is that with each game they take what they've learned and use it to try and improve upon their next game. Not a lot of companies anymore try to maintain that sort of continous growth and improvement in their titles.
    Whatever they choose to do next, whether it's a new xenoblade or an entirely new ip, I'm excited to see what they create.

    I saw the suggestion that people with a Nintendo Switch online account should be able to pre-order. And I'd say maybe limit that to those who have had an account for at least six months, maybe a year. You can assure that it's real people ordering only one console that way, and it puts a reasonable chunk of the market outside of the demand equation for scalpers.

    Old enough to remember the wii launch? Tht thing was unobtainium for over a year. No lockdown, and mostly brick and mortar sales. Scalpers would leave local shops with carts full. Wii was the first console I remember being like that, and every console since has followed suit. Internet and bots make it easy for re sellers, but the real issue is artificial shortages. I’ll believe it when I see it.

    They really need a robust preorder system for the new Switch or whatever it will be called, and limit the number of preorders by one account. Won't stop scalpers from selling preorders on eBay which is an entirely different kind of scumminess, but they should be able to figure out how to keep someone from getting 100 consoles, and every system in stock sells out 30 seconds after it is listed. Maybe we need to go back to the old way, at least for launch day, where you just had to wait in line for your system and you could only buy one.

    I’ve been convinced forever now that monolith soft is working on a Zelda RPG. i don’t have a whole lot of evidence but i just feel like it makes so much sense. Nintendo needs a big Zelda game to launch the switch 2 but it’s way too soon for the next mainline game. Monolith soft has A TON of experience with RPGs as well as having worked on both open air zelda games. and something about that old hiring ad artwork they put out just screamed Zelda to me

    Less Xenoblade 3 and more Xenoblade 1 or 2. 3 just felt boring and I hated the world especially following 2. The other thing I despise in RPGs is when every character can be any class. It completely ruins the feeling of progression or growth for me. In short, XB3 was probably my biggest disappointment of the Switch generation.

    • @NuiYabuko
      @NuiYabuko 28 дней назад +3

      I feel you on that. XC went from one of my favourite franchises to "Should I even care about what Monolith does?" thanks to XC3. I was so hyped for the game, perhaps too hyped. I was looking forward to exploring great environments, but most are too big and there are too many grass fields and forests. The theme of the game means that the world doesn't really have its own culture, so every interesting landmark is something from the prior two games. The story went from having an oppressive atmosphere to what felt like fan fiction. It's XC, so it's a fun game to play for me, but all the praise that mess of a story gets, I just can't understand.
      I think I also would've preferred if every character could only become their S-rank class, potentially A. It would've opened a lot of different strategies and couldn't be cheesed as much.

      @@NuiYabuko I've played probably 3/4s of xenoblades 1 2 and 3. The mechanics and worlds of xenoblade are interesting and some of the characters are good. But between the child main characters and story style that often has bad guys fly in from nowhere to fight and then fly out like nothing, there is just a lot about the the way the story is told that doesn't jive with me.
