I rarely comment on your videos , but i have to say something . I'm 61 and a builder for 43 years , so i know a thing or two about organization and creative delivery . I thoroughly enjoy ALL of your videos . You are a talented host and mechanic , and you could easily have a network t.v.show. But i know you are smart enough to know that you would lose total creative control if you were ever to do that. At your age (just under 21 i believe ) you are talented beyond your years . You are extremely likeable and well grounded, and i am sure your parents are very proud. They should be equally proud of themselves as we are all a product of our environment. Keep doing EXACTLY what you do, EXACTLY the way you are doing it. And to be happy always , focus NOT on the accomplishments from your efforts , but on the LEARNING harvested from those efforts . By focusing on the learning and not the glory , our spirit will always be stronger than our ego . This is what keeps us grounded . P.S. your buddies , including your cousin , are pretty cool too .
Love the fact that you enjoy restoring and rebuilding classic cars and trucks. I just finished my '03 Impala and now I'm back working on finishing restoring my '81 Silverado
I like how they look. I am putting the same headlights in my 1976 Ford Pickup, had to much trouble with the halogen lights and the fact they are so dim.
They are great. Did order a harness from All Star Trucks and it was junk and they wouldn't respond. Bought a harness from LMC and 10 minutes to install and they work great!
Awesome ! Thank you - I have a 72 ranchero I have been thinking about the factory " flickering wick" headlights and wanting to get some light in front of - now I have a direction !
Oh it's easy. I learned about the mod almost 20 years ago on FourEyedPride. The wiring is old and thin on old cars. It saves the wires and keeps the switch from burning out. Make sure you run larger guage wire, I think I ran 10ga when I did it. Might as well replace the sockets too. It's like the big three upgrade, real good to do.
Those adjuster bolts with nut are sold at any auto parts store in the Dorman/MotorMite HELP section. Just ask the person at the counter and show them the bracket you took out without the bolt and nut. Better yet, take a picture of what it's supposed to look like and they can match it up. I deliver parts for O'Reilly's and have delivered those adjuster bolts a few times. ;)
Gotta love California, i'm in the central Valley and my truck which is blue is now white because of all the ash. The creek fire which is burning in Fresno county is causing a lot of problems up here. It is however keeping the temperature down tho. We did lose our cabin, and are probably going to lose our favorite ski resort.
My father passed and left me his f100, it runs but it is rough. We painted it camouflage together when he was still alive. He was adamant when he wrote out the bill of sale to me, don't let it get crushed. I have people offer to buy, kinfolk offer to buy it. That truck, is all I got left of him, we never had amazing father son relationship, but that truck, I wouldn't take a million for it. I have tried a while to get literally anyone to help me work on that truck. Nobody would help. I'm not a mechanic, none of my folks ever took the time to teach me. Well I can say your video has been much help to me. Many thanks, and nice truck!
My truck i bought from my dad. I love it and have done all the work myself since 1976. Had issues with some bolts this time and had to get help with that. They are easy to work on, lots of wd40 and patience. Mine has just under 500,000 miles on it now. Great trucks!!!!
I like them both. the halos look uber cool but then again the amber stockers look very nice at dusk as well. I think the LEDs are probably more practical, the light is much cooler which would be better for viability.
I did an LED conversion on my 95 F150, was pretty much plug & play. Much brighter than the halogens! Did you measure a voltage drop at the headlight plugs? Although you had a great distance of wire, these old trucks had heavy wiring if memory serves.
I love the LEDs like I have on my 67 Mustang but the only downside to that is if you do any kind of winter driving with snow the LEDs don't get hot like the halogens do and snow won't melt like they would with the halogens. I had to stop twice on my way home this past winter on my way home from work to clear the snow off of my headlights and when I got home they were covered again
There was a company that made headlights with a heating feature to them where if it dropped below a certain temp the sensor would detect that and and heat the lens so snow and ice wouldn't build up. I think it was jw speaker or something. Check the Headlight revolution channel on here I was looking at a pair for my square body because I was having the same issue. Only reason I didn't follow through is because I got a beater with halogens for the winter.
I was looking at some a while back but I can't justify spending couple hundred dollars on headlights. I've already smoked a deer in my Mustang already.
personally like the new ones more, love thoes halos and the led blue looks really nice. Hope you and your friends and family are safe from the fire. Heard its getting pbad over there
Hey Craig, been a minute since I commented, but I’d say old school ambers all the way. But either looks great. Been collecting old ford badges in the junk yards, so be expecting a package from me soon! Take it easy man!
Watch water or rain with those relays without any dielectric grease if they get wet at night they will flick your lights on I’ve used switches “waterproof” harnesses and came out to a dead battery multiple times
That's pretty conventional for headlight setups. And too add also; not only old wiring, but thin wiring. I had a 77 k10 that would burn out headlights because the wires to the hibeam switch in the floor would get too hot when the lights were on. Current travels on top of the individual strands of wires, not through them. Electrical resistance makes heat. The relay mod is awesome, taking power directly from the battery, leaving the switch... to just be a damn switch. When I did my 08 CVPI; I got a tiny fuse box to fuse the relays from the battery, and had two relays per light.
It's your ride man, what give you the best night vision? Maybe you compare and tell us what you think is best for you.Sometimes looks are not every thing, function is king of the road!
I saw either ones look cool however I do say the amber has that old school vibe. Otherwise you have a beast of a truck and I would build one almost as cool as it.
I think you are better off with the LEDs than the yellow halogen lights, yellow lights are good for foggy weather or snow storm conditions, but for where you are at, LEDs are better
4:10 The plastic (or vinyl) tubing that your new wiring harness is in looks pretty jankey, and out of place, especially in an older vehicle. There is a very easy cure for this, and it only costs a few dollars. Go to a sporting goods store, and get some hockey tape...........the stuff the players wrap the blades of their sticks with. It has the right look and the right texture as the original wire wrap the car/truck had when it was brand new. All you have to do is wrap it around the wires, and you're done. I think the LED headlights look better.
I installed this same harness in my 69 F250. Solved the flicker issue I was having. I’ve had this kit installed for about 5 years with no issues. Since I’ve installed LEDs with Halos and have the low beams, bights and halos, all running off of separate relays. Seems to work well. Also , This is a great read for anyone wanting to do something similar and having dim/flicker issues. . Great video Craig! www.ford-trucks.com/articles/whiter-whites-brighter-brights/
I'll help you out since the channel creator never replies to questions, or even people saying 'Good job looks great' There is a junkyard in Sacramento that sells only older Ford truck parts. The area has all different car models at different junkyards. Tgat is your best bet, or your can order brand new for around six hundred bucks for the entire grill. Then its sixty bucks for each headlight trim that screws on around the headlight.
Hey Craig. I was given a set of h13 jeep headlights. I ordered a conversion harness to go to h13. Will I be ok with those or will I have issues with heating up or frying wires?
Is there a chance you could link them or provide a model number? These are the best looking led lights I can find and I can only find them here, would love to have them in my 67’ f100!
@Thecraig909 I think you should do a walk around/night drive video on each of the the headlights now that you have the new harness in so we can get an accurate comparison on each of them now that each will be projecting more light down the road. I don’t think it’s fair for the halogens to not be seen with this new harness and proper power
Hey hows it going Greig, so I removed all my carpet from my 1970 ford truck and there's a little rust on the drives side . will sanding it down remove it ?.
I would have taken voltage measurements BEFORE and AFTER right at the bulbs and at the battery just to see what the voltage differences really are. I suppose that a similar system could be retrofitted into most any older vehicle. That harness was not necessary. Just install the lighting relays at each bulb and trigger the relays from the OEM HARNESS connections. Just need a FUSED 10 gauge wire right from the battery feeding each relay. This is what they do on new cars.
Around here, these lights piss people off. A guy got so aggravated at the guy behind him, he was blinding him from behind. He stopped his car right in the road, He got out, picked up a rock, and busted out the same exact type of lights shown in this video. He pitched away the rock, got back in his car, and drove off. Leaving the guy behind him with no lights. To a lot of people, these things are too bright. Even on dim. They are blinded in there mirrors so badly that they can't see in front of them. If a dear jumps out in front of you, that's tough if you can't see it. The guy that busted out the other headlights, he paid a fine and paid to have new headlights put back in the other guy's car. But, they went back with Halogen originals. I guess the guy didn't want that to happen to him again. The guy said himself that others had complained about his lights being too bright. But he just dismissed them. He wound up figuring things out the hard way.

You can go to advance auto and get the plastic adj. For headlines. I did in my 71. Works great
I definitely love the look of the old-school glass.
Same
Great upgrade! Did one on my 79 F150 as well, massive improvement on the factory sealed beam even, but even better with my new housings/bulbs!
I like how they look. I am putting the same headlights in my 1976 Ford Pickup, had to much trouble with the halogen lights and the fact they are so dim.
Did you have any problems with them?

The Halogens look better but I would still run the LEDs. Awesome video man, keep me coming!!!
the headlight adjusting screw, can be found in the help aisle at auto store
You look on LMC Truck website they have a square nut that pops in there and serve the same purpose is that metal one

Love you're channel bro, greetz from Amsterdam!
He's a good dude!
Dude I literally just did the relay mod on my 62 galaxie, great minds think alike brother!👌
I like the ones you have installed best.
I like the new halo lights I have the same ones in my 76 c10. The old amber ones does look cool but for driving and safety stick with the news ones.
I like the LED’s way better. They fit the truck more in my opinion

Autozone sells a plastic one for the head lights. I found out the hard way lol
Good fix and nice upgrade!

Love the channel, like these head lights
agree!!
Is there some way to wire it so that you can eliminate the old harness entirely?
I like the vintage ones more it adds to the ratty look but the halos look cool too
We agree! the halo's are nice but hard to match the vintage look. Hope someone an make a vintage orange/ yellow headlight
Halos def look really good
Old schools too but theres something about halos that looks sexy

what kind of # san paper didnyou use to sand down the inside ofbthe truck and where did you get that ford steering wheel?
JR. Torres mostly 220 and up to 400 before I painted the inside of the cab. And the wheel is from LMC truck

Would that benifit if I did it on my squarebody?
Whatever happened to your cool Falcon?
I got the same air cleaner on my 57 Chevy!😏
First as in headlights are the first things people should upgrade on these trucks
Where did you get them headlights at?
I honestly like the tinted amber better
What headlight setup is that, housing/halo
I like the led lights way way better
I like these headlights more than the amber ones.
that neck zit is hypnotic
I like the halos
I prefer LEDs, halos gives me some retro future vibes
Can you make a video about your trucks 0-60
Never had a problem with halogens in my 76 f100
But who do you connect to The original harness
def like the led lights better!!
old school is better. I love the warmth of old headlights. also the amber looks sweet.
that harness is from Japan Not China
Where did you get the headlights
Headlights that bright are great for you, but you'll blind opposing drivers. Great job with the wiring, though.
Tinted halogens are better IMO. I love the old school look
Ambers for sure
that relay kit looks weak. yet i have one like it on an 1986 chevy pickup, 5 years so far so good and no more melted light switch harness!
they sell plastic universal headlight adjusters at autozone that wouldve fixed youre problem
I like the l.e.ds

I like the LED's better
Halos dude. They look good, & safer
yep nothing like having to dig and mod parts for your ride....
Like the led myself

Halogen FTW, the cutoff on those LEDs is garbage! You should have a crisp flat line, not a line with a bulge in the middle.
