Excellent video, I think I just added something to my shopping list. That watch!! A lot of people starting off get really confused and lost when trying to understand declination. I was one of those people last year lol. Happy Camping! -Eric
Yes it's a tricky subject and with reliable GPS it's becoming less necessary. But for overall safety it's best to master an understanding of the whole idea!
Love the Vid (and all your others)! Any chance you could add the link to where you found the hut list with GPS coordinates? Sounds pretty handy when up top! I'm having a hard time tracking it down. Cheers!
No problem Will Mann, it's on the KHA website www.khuts.org You may already know but KHA stands for Kosciuszko Huts Association. I've just added the full link in this video's description. I copy and pasted the hut list myself into a excel document then minimized the text to fit onto the 4 sheets of paper you see in this video. There must be about 200 huts on the list, from my experience the GPS coordinates are very accurate!!. KHA is a non-profit organization that build and maintain huts for fun, why not become a paid member of their group to show support! Soon we are publishing a 4 day hut camping tour video with multiple huts. WELCOME TO BUSH CHANNEL !
More Australian snow scenes, man that hurts my head LOL please forgive me, I’m slowly learning that it indeed snows in parts of AUS ha ha ha. As for navigation, I only use a topo map, satellite photographs and compass, I never use a gps in the bush. Old school, maybe but have yet to be lost during my hunts. I always enjoy and learn something from your vids and this one was particularly good. Thanks mate! Edward, Canada.
you can't beat Finnish tech, Suunto should be good in the cold, while I lived in Finland for 4 years the average winter temp where I lived was -15 degrees and it even got colder -30. I had been married to a filipina from Cebu loved being in the Philippines, such nice people and an island paradise.
I just purchased a GPS for our last trip. It was one of the best investments I've made. Before I always just use a map and marked the spots as close as I could guess. I noticed that while Christina was cooking the pan was sliding around a little. There is a small stainless steel grill that comes apart and stores in itself. You can see it at www.campmor.com it is called the grilliput. Thank you for sharing. God bless and stay safe.
Hey Rich, had a look at that site, if you're talking about the Grilliput yes it looks good; particularly with the sausages in the pic ;) Yes our stove top is not really meant for a large pan. Lucky Christina is very well coordinated; she never spills or accidentally drops things. Good to hear you're out there doing lots of trips!
This video could have been done without leaving home. Judging by the summer shoes, the "picnic" filmed not far from home. :) Map and Compass :) and suunto, I hope you don't get lost on the way back?
