Met Steve a few times in 2003 and 2004, along with Bruce Lorich, who was over from the States. Steve worked for Spink then, already an expert of course 20 years ago and totally embedded in the world of coins!
I would love the 1839 Proof sovereign. No budget for that. That would be absolutely gorgeous. Nice to see those slabs inside a bit of polythene so they don't scratch the slab.
The Marsh guide is good with the exception of the rarity ratings which are not accurate. I have 3 1855 raised ww, so do I have a third of the quantity on the market? I think not.
Excellent video Numi, thanks to you & Steve for your insight. On the subject of the Marsh book, is there any possibility of an update to the price guide insert for the current edition? Pricing beyond 2016 is nonexistent and an guide update would hold off us sovereign lovers until the next book release?
Wow Numi.... you have a really lovely collection there... good taste in your coin picks, they look fantastic together. Those 1826 proofs... wow!! I'm a relatively new coin collector (only started this year), and I see I have a long way to go, but it's fun all the way :) Thanks for another informative video.
I would love to see the £5 and £2 sovereign coins included in the next Marsh guide edition. Haven't got around to buying the Spink guide yet but I believe that's where they're found at the moment.
Where's that dude who often used to ask you to make a video of all of your collection? Excuse me! Hello! Are you still out there? Come and take a look at these babies!

3:44 Those Edward VII coins could be found quite cheaply 20 years ago. Not now!
Oh my word wow!!!! That 1701 is tear jerkingly lovely! The 1822 isnt too shabby either !
I wish I had bought the Marsh guide before I started buying sovereigns. It's a great guide.
Excellent video and loved the backdrop of your collection.
It’s a great resource

2:36 Wow that QE2 sovereign was strictly graded at MS64. Massive eye appeal.
another great video with steve hill in it totally enjoyed it, that guy knows his stuff....
Great info thank you both
Lovely display of just a small part of your collection, I am sure. You have a pick for quality and scarcity combined!
Yes I prefer fewer better coins
Great video and good to hear the advice from Steve. Glad he picked the 1862 R over R in Victoria as a top pick... Lucky I picked one up recently!
Good move ))
Thanks for sharing your personal sovereign collection. Some really nice rarities you have.
A consummate gentleman and am glad to count him as a friend Nice coins there, of course.
True
If my interest in collecting ever wanes, I only need a Numistacker video to put me back on track.
It won’t wane
Beautiful Coins! Love the artwork!! 😀
Thanks very much
I have the book mentioned it saved my bacon on a few occasions. I learned a great deal regarding 1/2 Sovereign varieties, very interesting. Thanks.
Yes it’s a great resource
Well done Numi, great interview with a lovely backdrop. Had to look again @20s if I could only have one coin in my collection that would be it.
Thanks for this interview with Steve. Interesting point about modern mint packaging. Great pickups in the numi collection great backdrop
It’s a small collection 😊
Numi - Give me quality over quantity any day. Excellent collection, I'm sure all sovereign lovers would agree.
Thanks for the great coins, videos and info
Thanks for the comments
