There isn't really a song I hate this year and the final is of a really high standard. You criminally underrated my winner (the Netherlands) but glad to see appreciation for Albania. Norway grew on me a lot recently too
Finally, you have a good list! Your #2 is my winner, your #6 is my second place, your #1 is my fourth place and your 10th place is my 3rd place although your 35th is my 5th place.
I revisited this contest less than a month ago, and I must say that it’s a really solid year. I enjoy almost every single song and I think that more than 10 songs deserved to qualify in each semi. The production and stage were also fantastic, and the hosts were solid. Below is my Top 5 1. Finland 🇫🇮 2. Austria 🇦🇹 3. Norway 🇳🇴 4. Sweden 🇸🇪 5. Armenia 🇦🇲
2014 is another solid year--I particularly liked the stage and the production. The interval acts were also great; the 12-point song was a definite highlight. The songs are also pretty good--there was variety and all, but I'm not always passionate about them. Also, I agree with you about the NQs, as this is (as of 2021) the last year where my entire top ten has made it to the grand final. Though I did like IRE and ISR. (On another note, what year has the strongest NQ class for you?) My top ten: 1 pt: HUN (this has actually grown off me somewhat, though I do appreciate the message) 2 pt: GBR (again, a pity! Children of the Universe had a "British" indie flavor to it, and it sounds fantastic. Probably my favorite UK entry of the 2010s) 3 pt: SLO 4 pt: POL 5 pt: ITA (the black sheep of Italy's post-comeback output, but I still jam to it and love the lyrics of La mia citta. However, I do think the verses were stronger than the chorus) 6 pt: SUI 7 pt: AUT 8 pt: NED -- Again, a double third place for me, as I love both Rise Like a Phoenix and Calm After the Storm. However, the latter edges it out for me because it is a stronger song, filled with nuance and melancholy. I also like how ambiguous the lyrics are, and I really enjoy it...I don't even listen to country! 10 pt: NOR -- I agree with everything you've said about Silent Storm! The second of three great Norwegian entries during this stretch, it's introspective and sad, and Carl delivers this well. 12 pt: ARM -- But Not Alone has had me from the opening piano notes. It flows well into the song and takes many transformations to get to that climax. Once there, the dubstep and classical instrumentation works together to convey something fantastic. Aram's voice also adds dimension to this song, assuring the listener and providing so much power. The embodiment of controlled chaos, and my favorite Armenian entry.
I agree with everything you have to say about Armenia! I really can't fault the song composition-wise, it really is masterfully put together, just that other songs hit me harder. As for the year with the best NQs, I have three candidates. There's 2009, which I'm sure you can see looking at my Top 10, with 6 of them being NQs. The other two are 2017 and 2018 which we'll get to, which may end up looking similar.
@@eurovisionconnor I never had that many songs in my top ten NQ! The most would have to be 2018, with four of them As for the strongest, I have 2010 as a possible candidate, but I can see your case for 2018.

I like 2014. Both Norway and Hungary are masterpieces, but so are Netherlands and seriously underrated Montenegro. Thank you for putting Moldova so high. I was always a big fan of this song. Even if I find the staging a bit of an overload, I would've made them qualify. It's a really good entry, and this is primarily a song contest.
To be perfectly honest, I adore this year. I only "hate" 3 songs, and only a few others I consider myself to strongly dislike. This is also a historic year for both Montengro and San Marino, who each acheived their first qualifications. I wasn't a competent human being back then (I'm only just turning 15 this year), but I can feel the excitement the people of those countries felt. But anyway, sentiment over, I seem to be the only person who hated the stage this year. To me it seemed too cubical. The floor is honestly fine, but those LED boxes behind everyone always felt dumb to me. But what can I do. Quite surprised you have Spain so low, but I almost got your last place predicted again! 37. Belgium 36. Georgia 35. France (uh yeah) 34. Latvia 33. Azerbaijan (boring) 32. Moldova (cheap) 31. Iceland 30. North Macedonia 29. Belarus 28. Greece (cheap as well) 27. Albania 26. Germany 25. Russia 24. Estonia 23. Lithuania (guilty pleasure) 22. San Marino 21. Italy 20. Israel 19. Malta 18. Portugal 17. Romania (felt quite watered down from their 2010 entry but still really good) 16. Hungary 15. Finland 14. Denmark (IT'S CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE) 13. Poland 12. Montenegro (IT'S STILL CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE) 11. Austria 10. Armenia 9. Ukraine 8. Norway 7. Switzerland 6. Spain 5. United Kingdom (could've been the last moment of glory for them, but I guess not) 4. Sweden 3. Ireland (so underrated) 2. The Netherlands 1. Slovenia (literally the perfect song in so many ways) In 2015, I predict your winner will be Latvia, and your last will be Cyprus
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands (i've gave my personal points to the ESF eurovision songs performed in the Grand Final Show) 12 points: Armenia - Aram MP3 - Not alone 10 points: Finland - Softengine - Something better 8 points: Hungary - András Kállay Saunders - Running 7 points: Spain - Ruth Lorenzo - Dancing in the rain 6 points: Romania - Paula Seling & Ovi - Miracle 5 points: Sweden - Sanna Nielsen - Undo 4 points: Malta - Firelight - Coming home 3 points: Italy - Emma - La mia citta 2 points: France - Twin Twin - Moustache 1 point : Slovenia - Tinkara Kovac - Round and round
As I really love the entries from Albania, Azerbaijan and Norway, I really like your top! Overall a quite solid year, which hasn't so many songs I truly love, but most of them are listenable.
2014 is one of my favourite Eurovision years ever, amazing stage, it felt like the right songs qualified as you said, and I love so many of these songs! Belarus, Denmark, and France are some proud guilty pleasures of mine. Also, I’m so glad I found someone that doesn’t have Israel in their top 10; as you said, I don’t get why it’s such a fan favourite; what’s so special about it? Her voice and the staging is nice, but the song feels so generic.
This is one of My favorite Eurovision. I don't agree with half of results (for example: Poland 14th, Israel and Portugal didn't qualify and Denmark overrated) but stage, hosts, Energy on every performance and interval acts were good! Nice top!
My top 10 is: 10th: Spain (a powerful ballad sung by a powerful voice) 9th: Switzerland (very, very nice) 8th: Ukraine (effective catchiness) 7th: Norway (it touched my feelings) 6th: Hungary (that song kept my mind running) 5th: Finland (Finnish rock is what we need) 4th: Slovenia (like almost always) 3rd: Sweden (just like in reality, because the song is amazing) 2nd: The Netherlands (just like in reality, because the song is amazing) 1st: Austria (just like in reality, because the song is amazing)
Another year I've been personally underrating, as I do think it's much stronger than I usually portray it to be, definitely lives up to the goodness of the previous years. Here's what I think! 37. Russia 36. Lithuania 35. Belgium 34. Spain 33. North Macedonia 32. San Marino 31. Estonia 30. Portugal 29. Moldova 28. Israel 27. Ukraine 26. Poland 25. Italy 24. Albania 23. Slovenia 22. Latvia 21. Finally I found someone who is able to see the positive things in Three Minutes to Earth :D
The biggest crime of eurovision history was 1.Lithuania 2014 didn't qualify to final
2.Estonia 2016 getting dead last
San Marino underrated
