Kochetkov's gonna be the first goalie to get a Gordie Howe hat trick at some point in his career.
He already has one in the AHL, while playing for the Chicago Wolves he got an assist, scored a goal (with a hilarious celebration), and then got into a fight with basically the entire other team for his celebration after the goal - leading to him being ejected.

That was a perfectly placed poke check lmao
The stick was to prevent him going backhand and he touched the puck with his pads before the trip even happened.

@@Seantzo тогда бы Ткачука унесли бы на носилках😂
@@Seantzo well the first one was never a penalty shot imo so I don't care too much. I don't know how dropping a stick is now throwing the stick
The goalie dropped his stick, which is equivalent to throwing your stick, so correct call. Just because you feel something is wrong by your emotions doesn't make it wrong per the rulebook (which is was matters, the rulebook, not your feels). Then the goalie poke-checked Tkachuk's skates and not the puck. I'm not a Tkachuk fan, I actually dislike him more than I like him, and the way he executed that PS looked overall clumsy (going in with too much speed, looking at the puck too much, not executing well) but I can kinda understand being annoyed with getting tripped/poke-checked in the skates, it can be quite a dangerous play.
@@Seantzo lol no, there never should of been a penalty shot in the first place.

Its nice to see a goalie play with some degree of unpredictability for once. You cant tell the difference between goalies over the last 10 years for the most part.

When an infraction worthy of a minor penalty is committed by the goalkeeper during the shot causing it to fail, no penalty is assessed but the Referee shall permit the shot to be taken over again. Should a goalkeeper commit a second violation and the shot fails, he shall be assessed a misconduct penalty and the Referee shall permit the shot to be taken over again. A third such violation shall result in the goalkeeper being assessed a game misconduct penalty.
When a major or match penalty is committed by the goalkeeper that causes the shot to fail, the Referee shall permit the shot to be taken over again and the appropriate penalties shall be assessed to the goalkeeper.
The goalkeeper may attempt to stop the shot in any manner except by throwing his stick or any object, or by deliberately dislodging the goal, in which case a goal shall be awarded

I don't have a horse in this race, but this is emblematic of how atrocious referring in the NHL is currently and you can thank 'King Bettman' for it. Absolutely brutal.
THANK YOU. Goalies are 100% allowed to drop their stick when attempting a desperation save. It happens literally every night in the NHL. Some of the best highlight saves have a goalie dropping their stick in order to make a blocker save (because you can move your blocker faster when you don't have a stick in your hand). What's worse, it wasn't a breakaway in any case, it was a 2-on-1. Penalty shots require five things, two of which are: the infraction must be from behind, and the player must have an unimpeded breakaway. Neither happened.
It's crazy that people are defending the officiating and then saying "learn the rules" when the rules are really clear that this isn't a penalty.

He got the puck with his pads before the trip so the play had died before the trip and Kooch made the save. He was prepared with the stick of Brady went with the backhand but used his pass to touch the puck before a trip happened.
Except when he got the puck...
Go rewatch another couple of times then edit your comment
You missed the part where he got the puck. The pads made the save, Tkachuk was nowhere near the puck when he got tripped because the goalie read him like a book. Trip happened long after the outcome was decided.
@@flounder he mov d his legs towards the puck and where he aimed his stick was in case of a deke or Brady going backhand and it wasn’t an intent to trip. Now it doesn’t matter the intent it matters if there is a trip but since Kooch touched the puck before the trip which killed the play it isn’t a penalty.

Brady lost control of the puck or shot the puck into the pads before any contact, or simultaneously with the poke check being in the lead skate. Borderline. But the no call is the correct call, especially because Pyotr did not “throw” his stick in the first place.
