Here is a quick tutorial about Amazon Mechanical Turks and some of the strategies I use for a successful experience. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment.
I've been on mTurk for just over two years now, I use "mTurk Suite" ext to grab daily work and have my filter set at $1.00 "dollar min/task." After first 1000 hits the opportunities vastly increased and after 5000 it became a diff world .. I start early in the day & end wk before noon. Cheers ....
"10:55" Do not give bad data. She would not say it but I will....DO NOT SCAM PEOPLE. Giving bad data will get you rejections and eventually kicked off the platform (hopefully). It drives requesters away and hurts everyone who depends on the platform for money. Tell your true demographics etc... These are researchers spending lots of money and sometimes years on research and that should be respected.
Ijust saw this on the mturk reddit. Someone linked to it to warn a new requester. This is infuriating. Your right, the people using this research need it for something. College students, professors, businesses, and all manner of people and organizations use the platform for surveys. They are paying us to give them data and people like this loser are advertising to new workers a method of cheating. I hope whoever this person is gets banned.
I agree! The information given as examples on not giving your true age or if you're a smoker or not is just telling mturkers to give some thought to stretching the truth in order to get qualified for a survey. Not going to do it! I'd rather be disqualified for a survey for not meeting their needs and feel good about myself. Karma.

Most qualifications have nothing to do with time. You have to go through and if you see a hit that you're interested in, click the qualification "link" and see what you need. Some require you to take a test while others you can just get. There are some that do require you to have a certain acceptance rate or things along those lines.

3min transcription once in an hour...sounds like the 3PlayMedia transcription sample I just did. That audio in your video is 28 min...they're paying $9.00 for that and allowing 3.5hrs. Even if you could finish that in the time indicated, it's not worth it to have $9.00 stretched over 3hrs...Whoever made that Turk has unrealistic goals.

You probably know this by now, but you can use Turkopticon to check out the requesters and find out who is good and who to avoid. I work online, and I make my major money there, but at night, when I'm doing nothing, I knock out a few surveys and rake in about $150 a month, which is my mad money.

so its been a year since you have been doing this. If you are still continuing this. Do you have to worry about tax season? like do you have to file taxes for this "job" or is this all 100% your money and not have to worry about the government or state wanting their piece of the pie?
Any income you make you have to pay taxes on that is why as a business person, you must make sure to keep track of your expenses (computer, internet and whatever else you may use to earn the income). Amazon MTurk is a legit business and you will receive a 1099 at the end of the year for income earned.
Amazon will send you (and the irs) a W2 tax statement at the end of the year. Any income earned (whether through Amazon or anywhere else) is supposed to be reported. The IRS will then determine if it was enough to be taxed on. I don't use scripts so really don't know much about them but I know there are people who MTurk who use scripts to find the hits they want to do. There's a very good Facebook group that could be helpful: facebook.com/groups/mturkmembers/

Don't know how mTurk is now but I just signup 2019 and the way I see it, I don't watch TV and if I was watching TV I wouldn't be doing mTurk or anything else so at the end of the day I have nothing better to do after I tending to my daughter as a single father is work work work whether its gonna be finishing music to submit or now getting ready to join this mTurk venture. I have 2 questions. 1) how do you figure out when a task is completed if the details of the job aren't specific enough? 2) I tried to correct my name in order for it to match the name on my bank account, since right now I use my intials. It gave me a hard time to change it. The page just stayed blank when I tried to go in to edit. Any suggestions? Thank you

The transcribe jobs pay WAY too little. I even sent a message asking the requester for more money. They’ll ask you to record 25 short clips and only pay you 10 cents. Don’t be afraid to ask them for better pay if you do an excellent job.

Super late comment but I’m interested and curious on this job. I have a severe social anxiety disorder and I haven’t had my first job yet. It’s very hard to be out in public so you see how tough it is for me to find a job that’s right for me. Plus I have back problems so it’ll be very hard to find a job where I’m at. My interface is different than yours. I don't know if you're talking about rapidworkers.com or the mturk.com. My Mturk says that its unable to expand my account. When i click ii to expand it brings up "Unable to extend an invitation at this time To effectively maintain and administer the Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) marketplace, we are not always in a position to extend an invitation to complete tasks and earn rewards to every newly registered Worker. Should conditions change in the future, we will notify you with an invitation. Thank you for your interest in working on MTurk." Im very confused

Hmmm...I believe they will be separate accounts but can be the same log in. I have several Amazon accounts too (affiliate, 2 book publishing accounts, murk, regular prime and a sellers account). They are all different log ins.

yes it is legit. You can make a decent amount of money on the platform. There is no guarantee your account will be approved immediately though. Please do not take any advice from this video. This miserable cheat and scammer is a big part of why there is animosity between workers and requesters. Many of us take pride in our work and we don't like cheats, scammers, and liars. Build up a good reputation, create good working relationships with requesters, and you will make much more than trying to cheat your way thought like this woman is encouraging. Remember, the people paying for these surveys need the data and they are using limited budgets to get that data. There is no excuse for this behavior. I'm glad this was linked at the mturk reddit so we can warn requesters and try to pull new workers out of here and direct them elswhere. the reddit sub is a great place to learn valid information.
Thanks! I want to do a survey about language usage. I want to give the Turkers sentences and ask them to rate them as natural sounding or strange...and maybe even ask them how to turn them into natural sentences by changing words, moving them around etc. Would you do this kind of thing. Do you think you could do it watching TV? Would 50 sentences be too much? How about 100? Any advice for me would be welcome and perhaps, if I get this off the ground, you could take the survey.
TommyTwobats "while watching tv" was just a situation i was experimenting with. of course some HITs require more focused attention, i'd then put the tv on pause or mute. I think that the reward should match the task...if you want a worker to do 50 sentences, about how long do you think this would take? how long would it take for 100 sentences? How much would you pay for the effort?

Manaal Qureshi unfortunately the possibility exists that they may not be accepting new workers at this time. When I joined, it took about 3 days for approval.
No that is very easy to do! My goal was $5 a day after I came home from working a full time job and while watching TV...if I buckled down and focused I am sure I could have made $10-$20 a day.
ishmell1 it's my first week on mturk and I've already made about 70 bucks only doing it for like 4 days..so yeah it's very easy to make at least $5-10 a day just find things like surveys

No...'she said' her goal is $5 a day AVERAGE easy...average means some days you do more and some days you do less but at the end of 30 days you AVERAGED $5 a day.
I do. I feel pretty safe with it because it is Amazon that is paying you. I have a few other amazon accounts (selling books, and products) and the process is the same, you give them your social (or ein) and bank account info. I've haven't had any issues.

Question in general - can this be done on a android device & also do U need a bank account in order to get paid or can they simply send out a printed pay check to your address
you can do some (not most) hits on an android but you really need a computer to do most. Outside of electronic transfer, the only other way you can get paid that I am aware of is Amazon credits (can use the money on purchases on Amazon.com). I don't think they mail out paper checks.

Yes it does. This is a legit source of income...amazon will not allow you to do this until you submit all of your tax information.

Unfortunately it seems as if MTurk is now not taking workers from outside the USA, I am in Australia and was not accepted..
i am in Germany using Mturk and earned about 350$ but can only get gift card balance only for amazon.com . and Accepted is about your profile Data only :(

Hmmm...I believe they will be separate accounts but can be the same log in. I have several Amazon accounts too (affiliate, 2 book publishing accounts, murk, regular prime and a sellers account). They are all different log ins.

Yes...it is through Amazon which is a legit company. In the example I use here...I make $150 a month easily during my free time.
yes it is legit. You can make a decent amount of money on the platform. There is no guarantee your account will be approved immediately though. Please do not take any advice from this video. This miserable cheat and scammer is a big part of why there is animosity between workers and requesters. Many of us take pride in our work and we don't like cheats, scammers, and liars. Build up a good reputation, create good working relationships with requesters, and you will make much more than trying to cheat your way thought like this woman is encouraging. Remember, the people paying for these surveys need the data and they are using limited budgets to get that data. There is no excuse for this behavior. I'm glad this was linked at the mturk reddit so we can warn requesters and try to pull new workers out of here and direct them elswhere. the reddit sub is a great place to learn valid information.
Thanks! I want to do a survey about language usage. I want to give the Turkers sentences and ask them to rate them as natural sounding or strange...and maybe even ask them how to turn them into natural sentences by changing words, moving them around etc. Would you do this kind of thing. Do you think you could do it watching TV? Would 50 sentences be too much? How about 100? Any advice for me would be welcome and perhaps, if I get this off the ground, you could take the survey.
TommyTwobats "while watching tv" was just a situation i was experimenting with. of course some HITs require more focused attention, i'd then put the tv on pause or mute. I think that the reward should match the task...if you want a worker to do 50 sentences, about how long do you think this would take? how long would it take for 100 sentences? How much would you pay for the effort?

Manaal Qureshi unfortunately the possibility exists that they may not be accepting new workers at this time. When I joined, it took about 3 days for approval.

No that is very easy to do! My goal was $5 a day after I came home from working a full time job and while watching TV...if I buckled down and focused I am sure I could have made $10-$20 a day.
ishmell1 it's my first week on mturk and I've already made about 70 bucks only doing it for like 4 days..so yeah it's very easy to make at least $5-10 a day just find things like surveys

They only allow 43 countries to work on their websites. This is the reason why some of your accounts haven't yet been approved

No...'she said' her goal is $5 a day AVERAGE easy...average means some days you do more and some days you do less but at the end of 30 days you AVERAGED $5 a day.

I do. I feel pretty safe with it because it is Amazon that is paying you. I have a few other amazon accounts (selling books, and products) and the process is the same, you give them your social (or ein) and bank account info. I've haven't had any issues.

Question in general - can this be done on a android device & also do U need a bank account in order to get paid or can they simply send out a printed pay check to your address
you can do some (not most) hits on an android but you really need a computer to do most. Outside of electronic transfer, the only other way you can get paid that I am aware of is Amazon credits (can use the money on purchases on Amazon.com). I don't think they mail out paper checks.

Hi! I MTurk very seldom. Because I spend most of my free time editing RUclips videos and being a social butterfly, I have very little time. But when I find I want to make a few dollars to bridge gaps in my budget I MTurk and when my son was in between jobs he MTurk-ed :-)
