Can the Piaggio BV 400 handle the mountains of Southern California? (aka Maxi Scooter) I took my Scooter to the higher mountain in the foothills of Southern California to see the snow, these are my impressions, thoughts and reactions to my experience.
I OWN AND USE THESE FOR MY Piaggio BV 400s
Coverado Motorcycle Cover (It fits great with windshield installed. Haven't tested it with the piaggio top box)

Abraham Lincoln Sticker Vinyl Bumper Sticker (This is the same one in the video)

LFPartS Black Motorcycle Stainless Steel License Plate Frame (This is the same one in the video) It makes the license plate all black and decent metal quality)

ZUOZE Small Cargo Net (If you do not have a top box and want to carry a cover on the back like shown in the video, you will need one of these)

LORADAR 2 Pack Retractable Security Cable (I use these as visual deterrents and a remind to remove my ulocks. I use a Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit as my main lock)
amzn.to/3YogqEs
Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit ( I use this on my back wheel and a different brand on the front wheel)

Onvian Bike Alarm with Remote 2 Pack (I've had great success with this as an audio deterrent for those who might want to sit or lean or move the Scooter. I recommend you consider combining this with other similar security deterrents your dealer may offer that are not available on Amazon.)

AVG K6 Full Face Helmet (Carbon Light, Dot Approved) (I love this helmet, it is super light so my head doesn't get tired, great styling (Mine is show in the video), air flow is a bit limited however during hot weather.

5 PC - CE Level 2 certified armor pads (I have two protective riding jackets. One for winter, link below and also a summer mesh jacket not available on Amazon. I use these CE Level 2 armor pads in them.)

Cortech Flathead Boot (I wear these boots everyday whether I am riding my scooter or not. )

Drizzte Men's Black Nylon Military Tactical Belt (Plus Sized) (It's well made, wide, adjustable and well keep your pants on.)

I live in NorCal and during the winter rains I install a tall windscreen. It's wide enough to cover my hands and block the cold wind which allows me to use a summer glove. I used a jigsaw to cut it down to just below my eyes so that I can see OVER the windscreen instead of through it (which I really dislike). When riding during a rain, the wind and rain actually flows just over the top of my helmet which is simply awesome. I did the same to my previous Vespa GTV.
Nice, have you considered adding the heated hand grips to your BV400?
@@RandyDreammaker - I did install heated grips on my previous Vespa GTV. What I noticed is that on the coldest days, the tall windscreen which also protected my hands from the wind had a greater benefit than the heated grips alone, however on the shoulder seasons when I normally remove the windscreen, the heated grips felt like heaven. I don't love the tall windscreen but I love even less being blasted by cold air on a (admittedly mild) NorCal winter morning. Obviously a serious scooter/motorcycle rider will likely have both. Note my current ride is a Piaggio Liberty 150 S, which is a perfect size for my 4.5 mile commute to work which involves a 0.3 mile freeway section.
Got yah. I thought about getting the Piaggio Liberty 150 especially because of the cost, but I'm down here in Los Angeles County, and sometimes I need to hop on the freeway. In retrospect, at least so far into year 2, I feel the advice my Vespa dealer gave me to buy the BV400 was a good investment. But it is an investment. I have a 2003 Honda Element car too, and the less miles I put on it, the better since they're no longer making it. I like being able to go up to Mount Baldy and Mount Wilson on my scooter too. But , I don't need the heated grips down here, and my windshield is the one that came with the BV400 which keeps the wind off my face and over my helmet. Hands, just gloves. I don't admire you for living up north, even down here in L.A. gets to cold for me. lol@@donaldlee9992
great video, thanks for all the links. I just bought a '24 same color as you! SoCal ftw!
Nice! I really like the color, its similar to the orange color that Honda released on their Honda Elements.
Nice short review! I've been there many times and when that sun goes down it can get terrible cold when riding! The BV 400 may be my next ride. I have a 2007 Burgman 650 currently. Take care and GOD bless.
Thanks, I debated having driving video, but decided just to show it could make it up there. True it gets super cold up there, so I left immediately after the video and it was getting quite cold by the time I got down. You have a Burgman? How do you like it. I like the seat of the Burgman, if Suzuki brought it up to date technology and engine wise, and made it more competitive to the Piaggio, I'd have a tough decision to make. But for some reason Suzuki lags in bringing their scooters up to the performance and technology standards of Piaggio, plus the Piaggio was priced 1K lower.
Beautiful place. Lovely scooter. I see one of these in my future. It will carry me through London traffic, but I'd rather have your roads to ride it on!
Don't put a Gopro where I put one. The windshield is a horrible location. =D
I've taken my BV 400 Off Road. Even across some standing water. Does surprisingly well!
Off Road! Nice! Mine is still a little to new for me to want to do that, I don't want to mess up the body.
I ended up taking my BV400 to Mount Baldy, here in California to see the snow, which included a bit of off road too. Sadly, on the way back I went the wrong direction, got lost, took to sharp of a turn with out the correct leaning and dropped it, so now I have a few scuffs on it.

Bravo! Hello from Athens Greece.
Hi Greece Friend!
I have same scooters but we don't have in Europe the ugly Side signal blinkers. Looks weird
Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
Hi Italy Friend!
Σωστός!!!
Ładny kolor i skuter
show a video of you actually doing it!!!!
Nope, already did this video, plus the local mountains are all closed due to the California Fires, plus my Scooter has to go into the Vespa Dealer because it stopped working after the fires smoke got into the garage where I store it. But thanks for asking.
Colour not. Like
LOL, Color is a personal choice. They come in other colors too, including Black, Blue, White
