I fully agree with you when you say that we are importing both technology as well as equipments at much higher cost. As a result, we are not competitive. I come from steel industry and I find that most of the units are in expansion mode and they are relentlessly chasing foreign technology. Our steel industry is one of the oldest in the world. Yet today we have to depend on Europeans and Chinese to provide us latest technology. China is at least 50 years ahead of us. We will never be able to catch up with China. Corruption in all spheres (judiciary, legislative as well as executive )of society and vote bank politics is destroying us.
