@@user-midlander The investigation started in April 2022. Tates were arrested in December 2022. They were indicted in June 2023. Ever since that Tates have used every preliminary chamber hearing to delay and postpone the trial.
On April 28, the judge ordered that the trial can start. Tates appealed on the same day.
Don't they want to clear their names and get their assets back?

There is one notably difference in the legal terminology, the understanding of which may help to understand the situation better.
UK/US charge = EU allegation (made by prosecution), UK/US indictment = EU Charge.
Otherwise the process is similar.
Tates were brought to face a judge within 24 hours of their arrest. They were charged (using the UK/US terminology) after which that judge deemed that there was reasonable suspicion of crimes having been committed.
In the civil law countries, once someone is formally charged (indicted) nothing can be changed. Prosecution has to stick to that charge word by word during the trial.
In the UK/US, the original charge (the EU formal allegation made by prosecutor) alterations can be made, or even the whole charge can be dismissed.
@@PetriTemiseva I have no idea how the law in The EU or the US works but in the UK the maximum anyone can be held without charge is 24 hours,96 hours if suspected of murder and 14 days if terrorism is involved. The police have to show evidence to the CPS who make the decision if charges can be bought, there is no point in arresting anyone unless there is good chance of a conviction.
