  • The Malko Competition for young conductors 2015
    took place in Copenhagen 27.april - 1.may.
    From the start there were 24 contestants.
    The competition had 3 rounds and a final.
    To the final came :
    Tung-Chieh-Chuang Taiwan winner
    David Niemann Germany second
    Jesko-Sirvend Germany third

    The Danish Radio's Symphony Orchestra in :
    Rachmaninov's Piano Concert no. 3, mov. 1.
    Pianist is Lukas Genuisas (born in Moscov 1990)

      Actually, the conductor is Taiwanese.

    He was great until he started with the literature…. the sunrise at dawn etc

    I would would have asked the pianist to play more deep because it's russian music and I feel rachmaninoff is missing his home but a sorrow for not being able to go back to Russia before death or even in the time in the US

      He wrote the concerto muuuuch before he moved from Russia:) check it out. The pianist is simply brillianr, I think.

      The old "heavy" and "hammering" Russian style is gone (thank God) and the new sound of Trifonov, Malefeev etc is here to do justice to Russian music. The pianist here is superb. We need pianists with the tone amd poetry of Neuhaus more than ever.
