I would never buy an acoustic bass based on the Pickups sound, I'd just get a good electric bass.

Is it just my greasy mexican fingers or does everyone have a problem with fret slide sounds? Because I don't. Is this an artistic choice? Never been to clear on that...
Sometimes hard to enjoy acoustic guitar music because of the squeaky strings when fingers slide on neck. Its so irritating on my ears that I often change to another song. I don't know what causes it, but I wish guitarists would stop doing it.
Weird I love hearing that. Especially in "Coil" by Opeth. I don't think it's deliberate, when a guitarist moves along the fret board quickly he needs slide to get to other positions fast.
That's the only acoustic bass that sounds really good, all the others sound terrible to me 👍.

Bronze strings sound shit on acoustic basses. Try Thomastik wound on a nylon core.

Just learn to read notes. Look up double bass lessons and you should be able to catch on quick enough.
