    Ohhh, I wish my ferrets were that young. The youngest ferret I have is around three years old. My oldest is six years old.

    That enclosure is amazing! How do you have the stream set up? Is there a pump and filter system like an artificial pond?

    • @kingsdownferrets8485
      @kingsdownferrets8485  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes there is a big reservoir tub at the bottom and then a pump which pushes water to the top. No filter tho as no plants or fish. I can easily replace water but rain keeps it topped up

    I am curious, is this on your property? When you take them out are you ever afraid that they might run away? I would be so afraid to lose one of them.. 😅 How do you keep them from running off, and do they come back to you if you call them?

  • @rocknrobin4022

    How do you keep the fountain water and the rocks clean for them?

    • @kingsdownferrets8485

      Occasionally we give it a power wash and replace all the water which gets pumped around. Rain water also adds to it so it keeps fresher for longer.

    Roughly 3 weeks ago I found a Ferret (well my dogs did) and after not being able to locate the owner I now have a Ferret.
    I am glad I have done everything correct so far for him but How do I stop him biting me when playing (he is very friendly but bites during play) or putting on his harness. Picking him up isn't an issue but he will sometimes try to bite once picked up (not sure if playfully or frustrated, i've not let him bite me to find out). He will also jump up my legs as though he wants to be picked up but then the issue starts. Anybody have any advice please? Thanks

      All ferrets will use their mouths during play. Sometimes this can be a little more spirited than we would like. But shouldn't break the skin. If it is a proper bite then it will need correcting. You could try using the "naughty box" approach. Have a cat carrier near by and when he bites immediately say "no!" firmly and put him in the carrier for 5mins. Then let him out and repeat. They do learn what behaviour causes them to be sin-binned and they tone down that behaviour.

      @@kingsdownferrets8485 Thank you very much, your advice is much appreciated. I shall get a cat carrier tomorrow and start doing the sin-bin. I guess I'm going to have to suck it up and let him bite me lol hopefully it's only playful.
      I just want him to have a happy, comfortable life.
      Again, thank you for your time and advice

    I don’t know why but I kinda feel like my ferret is bored or unhappy they just sniff the floor they constantly run up and down stairs they will come to me and leave for a few seconds they sleep a lot they look sad I feel like deep down inside of them they want to tell me that they need help or something I want them to enjoy life not be bored is this normal behavior

    • @kingsdownferrets8485

      Ferrets are usually active and then long periods of sleep. They will rin around sniffing the floor. It's what they do. Its difficult to really say if they are sad/bored but typically an animal will be lethargic and not energetic if bored. You can give then more variety in terms of things to investigate, like a cardboard box with holes in and packing paper inside. You can get tunnels and jingly balls. Those fishing rod cat toys with feathers or bells on the end. You can buy those crinkle tunnels that have multiple tunnels/paths. Variety is key
