76 in MN and wife and I are campground hosts on wonderful Lake Vermilion - probably the most beautiful lake in Minnesota! We are not off the grid but we might as well be. We are volunteers for the DNR and we've been doing this for 12 years I think. They provide the free campsite with water and electricity for 4 months in the summer from May to the middle of September. Our only jobs are to keep the vault toilets kleen along with the grounds and be overly friendly with the campers. I'm retired and my darling wife will retire this next February. We truly love this couple as well as several other "off gridders" on YT. We have hundreds of pictures but we have not posted anything as of yet. The campground has a small website but it is run by the DNR and not very interesting. I can post the link if anyone wants it. Thanks, Dan and Marilyn. Be safe and God Bless you all.

Hey Greg, for future reference, any time you're sheeting a roof with rafters or trusses set at 2ft. on center, you should ALWAYS use ply-clips spaced halfway between each rafter or truss to provide support in between said rafters or trusses. It solids up everything to make the roof alot sturdier.
    Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy,
    Frank Scherping❤😅

Hey Kati & Greg, the textured plywood that you're putting up is called "T1-11, & it looks alot like board & batton siding. As a general contractor, I have installed quite alot of it. It used to be very resonably priced, & goes up very quickly
    Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy,
    Frank Scherping❤😊❤

Sorry, Greg, I'm with Katie on this one. I think the long section should have been in back. I do think you should do the house colors on that, since as Katie said, you've already got a lot of blue with the barns. The power house is more associated with "house" than "barn" anyway. As someone who's generator is under a tarp beside our house, I still think you should put a pad next to the powerhouse under that overhang and put your generator there.

I suggest: Storage in the front would look cluttered no matter how organized it is, so: store BEHIND for a cleaner look, AND part in Front, for shadow and protection for rain or snowfall, 1/3 back, 2/3 front.

Hey guys, after watching most of, if not all of your videos, I’ve noticed that quite a few of your nails do not seat fully. I noticed that both of you allow the gun to “bounce” off the board when the gun drives the nail, allowing a lot of the driving energy to be lost. If you hold the gun firmly against to the board during the shot, and don’t let it “kick back” I think you’ll find that the nails will seat fully into the wood. Maybe not 100%, but more than what I’ve been seeing. I know the gun is heavy, and awkward at times, but if you can do this it will save a lot of follow-up hammering. I did a lot of DIY framing when I had time, energy and motivation. I envy what you’re doing. Keep up the great work.

Katie one handing that nailer while holding the end of that heavy rafter and leaning from a ladder is really something. When these videos first started she was just getting started with a claw hammer. You two are getting so good with your construction abilities.
It would be nice if you could find a way to upgrade your sawmill. Watching Katie trying to get it set to the thickness she wants almost hurts my body. Having to push it is hard also. With all the wood you will be using a newer unit would be nice.
Glad to see Milwaukee on the job. I hope you have as much success as I have with their tools.

One thing when I built my house years ago I put a two foot overhang I wish I had to put a two foot overhang around the whole house but you know how a peak is right but anyway the two foot overhang is nice because when it rains that rain doesn't even hit the walls this the gable lens that have I think it's a one foot overhang the ranch wall siding I think it's like what you got but it's called wrench wall the stain is starting to Peel you can tell the weather cracking and stuff where the rain hits it but on the overhang sides it's still perfect and you can walk out your door without getting wet

Tyvek on the studs, plywood on the outside? Should be the reverse. Also, a wet pour for concrete slabs could be done in separate panels, one at a time with a keyway and dowels in the joints and 100mm (4 in.) mesh for reinforcing. I did seven panels 0.9m (3 ft) wide x 4.3m (14 ft) long with 2x4s forms over several days for a studio floor using a 2-bag cement mixer. Make sure the road base is well compacted and there is drainage under the slab and you're good to go.

Just a heads up. Great job on the shed. In the future if you use the textured plywood siding you don't need the angled wind bracing that you have to cut into the two-by-four wall studs. The plywood siding does that for you. That is why they do the whole house in plywood now.

I like the overhang on the front. I would paint same color as the house, so it blends in better. I will say if the blue paint was cheaper to use it for the first coat then switch to the brown, it will most likely take 3 coat, because that siding soaks up the paint. I have sided the goat barn, chicken coop and green house with that (I call it car siding), and it took several gallons.

From a storage view - backside ... but from a it's mid-winter view - the overhang on the front provides additional room out of the elements to take boots off, etc, so you're not dragging snow (aka frozen water) into your ELECTRICAL room. So for that reason I personally would have a way to reduce the transfer of water into my electrical room. FRONT.

I get it behind there there’s a lot of trees winter that overhang in the back would be a nightmare even a Florida boy knows that one of the snow sloths off the back of the shed and off the trees behind the shed everything back there will be useless unless you dig it out.

Aren't you afraid that this overhang will be too big and will have difficulty supporting the weight of the snow?
personally I will add two beams to support the roof. have a good summer 😘

Maybe someday you guys can put and another part of a roof and wall that you can make a car port to keep the snow out better? But with the homemade wood.

Paint it any color you want! I'm with Katie that it looks weird... In the states we call that outside cladding T-111. You folks never cease to amaze me with all your mad skills! :):)

If you put trim on like you did on the chicken coop and barn, id flip the colour of the barn/coop so do blue trim and brown/espresso ranch board) ❤

Katie the problem with your dry-pour is that you didn't go around the edges and smack the boards to make sure that the concrete had all settled in the way that it should and the edges needed a bit more water so that it could penetrate all the way down. Also, you needed to trowel the top surface so that the cream floated to the top to seal the concrete. What the issue that you're having is just a little bit of inexperience in doing the process. So don't beat yourselves up about how it looks. You can put a concrete sealer on it to make the top surface will adhere better.

I think Brown would look good on the building, but I think you should pour more concrete where you have the overhang and make you a small porch. Set you some yard furniture and it would look great. Be a good place to drink your coffee in the morning.

Great teamwork, best on any RUclips. I’m concerned about window being installed after siding. The flange on window would keep water from going inside wall. I noticed you cut Tyvek outline of window too. Why not wrap over window and door ledge to deflect water? I realize you have overhang so it might prevent rain sliding down wall and entering building.

In this case the siding is also the sheathing, so imo they did it the only way you can.

Hello Robin From Spain for the floor you could put a floor screed on the base which is a self leveling and does go hard. Good Luck.

I would paint the shed to match the house. The siding, we call it T1-11.

LESS SCRAP when you cut in a window in the house wrap. Don't cut the opening out but cut an "X" from corner to corner and fold the tabs back in. Also protects the edges of the wood

That siding is called T1-11 in the US. 8 inch grooves. Lumber prices here for a 3 foot 1 inch dowel rod 7.49.
