The guitar empuu is playing is his custom guitar (ESP Horizon, ESP EV-1) which he almost always plays.
When I see/hear Nightwish I am in awe of the amount of talent on the stage.
Yeah, it is easily the most concentrated group of equal talent in one band that I can think of

Hi again, Heline. This was such a fun double song. This was a combination of two separate songs. Elven Jig is my favorite of the two because, much like Last of the Wilds, it shows off the instrumental talent within this band. I loved your reaction to the whole thing. Thank you.
I can't imagine Floor in a tutu on stage, she knows very good which designer to choose for her stage clothes.

Great Reaction! Enjoyed your smile. Elvenjig is not an actual Nightwish song, i.e. not on any album. It is based on a song from called Jigs from Troy's previous band Iona which was a progressive folk band. Elvenpath is from Nightwish's first album Angels Fall First.

Elvenjig was trad. then arr. Troy with a previous band and brought into the Nightwish set where it's always played with Elvenpath. But Elvenpath is an original, from the first demo tape Tuomas' made which went on to form the core of the debit album, Angels Fall First.
Tuomas' wasn't too keen later and says Angels was the second bottom of his personal ranking of Nightwish albums:
"We played Elvenpath years later on the Decades tour, and l can't understand how Floor was able to keep a straight face singing those lyrics - to her credit, she did! l just remember the kid that I was back then, writing those songs and I kind of miss that kid, because it was all about Donald Duck and fantasy books and snowmen and things fantastical. "
The outfit is custom made by Royal Black Couture of Austria and is a one-off made to measure (as Floors outfits tend to be due to her size). They promised never to make another
They are one of two costumiers for the current Human Nature tour.

Headbanging on bagpipes! You have chosen the best version of this song, many reactors do the Bogota version, but Floor was sick there, and you can see it. Here she is at her best again...

BTW did you notice that Troy is touching the holes in the low whistle (and his other types of whistles and uilleann pipes) not with his fingertips but between the first and second finger joint?

There is a swiss folk metal band called Eluveitie. In addition to standard metal instruments you can hear hurdy gurdys, tin and low whistles, backpipes, celtic harp and violine. It's an amazing combo even if a studion mix is the recomended go to in my opinion. If you want to check out one of their songs "Rebirth" is a good one to start with.

Elvenpath from the first Nightwish album with Tarja. Just goes t show the evolution of the group. Troy with his instruments nowhere on the horizon when angels fall first recorded. Goddess Floor second singer still to come (Annette, the first ‘still t o come’). Kai not thought about, even Marko a later arrival, although he seemed to have been in the line up ‘for ever’. Only Emppu remains from Tuomas original group. And yes, elvenjig a ‘later addition’.
To be fair, as good as Floor is, this song is Tarja's... no one is able to perform this song as she did and is my favourite rendition.
I think Floor is more like a warrior Goddess. Amazing singer, stunning woman.
In the Arms of Mara by Grai is awesome folk metal. It’s in Russian but the harmony is great even if you can’t understand it, plus it has flute and violin.

Elvenpath : first song on the first album.
Somebody claimed that average learning time for learning to play Uillean pipes is 23 years of training. I don't know if that's true but even Troy said in an interview that you have to be slightly insane to play that instrument because it's so hard to play.
It would be really cool to hear you cover "La leyenda de la Llorona" by Mago de Oz.
On the Ommadawn album by Mike Oldfield, Paddy Moloney plays uilleann pipes, on his album Voyager uilleann pipes were played by Liam O'Flynn and Davy Spillane (but both uncredited I think). Maybe searching for those names will lead you to more great music.
Hi Heline just found your channel lots of flute and outdoors stuff we all need to reconnect with the earth. You tried Symphonic metal try some folk metal with flute Eluveitie Rebirth they are a Swiss band celtic vibe. Aidus is good and Exile of the gods, Rebirth has the most Flute tho.

I am usually not a fan of Floor era performing this song, but here Marco is "fixing" Floor's tonal mismatch with this song amazingly well and it really works
This is somewhat akin to prog rock from 50 years ago. Mixture of traditional instruments and electric guitars. Battle of Evermore and many Tull songs. Folk jazz blues and eveefieval sounds combined. In fact LZ may have been the first folk rock metal band.
Perhaps ullian pipes can be rented, rather than being purchased?

I think you should have a go fund me for your own uilleann pipes! It might be worth it just to see you try to learn to play them!! Apparently they are very difficult to play.
Uilleann pipes aren't that expensive. About the same as other wind instruments. Of course it's not something you just buy out of interest, but it's not an especially expensive instrument.
