- Now Vauxhall isn't a brand we all think highly of. It''s just seen as 'an' car. Nothing wrong but nothing good either. However, what if i told you that the very brand which brought us the bland Corsa and Astra made one of the fastest 4 door saloons ever made? What if this very car was so fast, the UK parliment and automotive press wanting it banned?
Well, watch the video and discover the story of a once normal saloon which through the magic of Lotus came to be faster than the Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs and Mercades of the time.
And of course, you cannot mention the Lotus Carlton without the number and letter combination 40RA. Which is of course, the reg plate of a Lotus Carlton which was stolen in the West Midlands one of the most recognisable cars in the uk. Ask anyone about 40RA in the UK, ensure you're ready for a long discussion on if it was ever found, and if 40ra ever outran a police helicopter.
If you like fast Fords and German 4 door saloons and the Charger Hellcat, then the Lotus Carlton is right up your street. I mean, the Lotus Carlton was the Hellcat of its day! Half the price of a Ferrari, yet similar performance. The Lotus Carlton is so insane, it would be like BMW making a new M5 which sold for £40,000 yet had the performance of a Ferrari 296!
If only Lotus and Vauxhall would bring this car back, which is arguably the best 4 door saloon car ever made.
