ABBA was my wife's favorite group and this song was her favorite song. My wife passed in 2012 from cancer and I almost cry every time I hear it now.

several things to say about "Chiquitita" (1979)
Chiquitita" means 'little girl' (with affection) in spanish And the melody have a spanish tune, specialy by the acustic guitar But the center is the wonderful piano, like the most ABBA songs
"Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, a masterpiece ; it has hopeful lyrics,
a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo,
then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus;
Agnetha and Anni Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence

It stands out especially when they stretch the monosyllables
with great quality and beauty
"Chiquitita" was premiered especially for the UNICEF Concert (January 9, 1979)
and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF

This was filmed by the BBC crew while making the 'ABBA in Switzerland' TV special in early 1979..Roxy Music and Kate Bush were guests in that show.Snownan is out in the landscape.The Jackson 5 (with young M>Jackson) had also filmed their 'Blame in on the Boogie' hit in front of that snowman btw.

ABBA is a whole. People just talk about the amazing voices of the two girls but they are more than that. The two guys are not always on the front but let's do some justice, the musics sung by Aghneta and Frida were also successful because they are catchy and on that Bjorn and Benny are geniuses on composing antological tunes, on the other hand this tunes wouldn't be so successful if they were sung by other girls than Frida and Aghneta, I just love them all the girls and the boys❤❤❤❤
Well of course the guys are genuises.But i won't blame you...I think this is a 'granted fact' in the back of many people's mind about the guys and that's some reason why we focus more on the girls.Guys are the tree with the roots ,girls are the fruits.Each one is each other's missing/needed part/We love them as a 4some.All 4 so exceptional.

Chiquitita" proved to be one of ABBA's biggest hits. It was featured in the Music for UNICEF Concert, broadcast worldwide from the United Nations General Assembly in 1979. As a direct result of this event, ABBA donated 50% of all royalties from the song to UNICEF.

One of the best groups ever. Sold 9ver 400 million records. Only the Beatles have sold more. They were 2 married couples from Sweden. Ani-Frid aka Frida or Annie the auburn haired one married the pianist named Benny. Agnetha the blonde married Bjorn the guitarist. The snowman was a reference to UNICEF on a Christmas special. ABBA donated all the proceeds of this song the UNICEF and Frida is still a UNICEF ambassador to this day
Frida is not Annie.

Ich finde die Szenerie passend. Eine abgekühlte Liebe, der Schneemann ⛄. Es lenkt nicht ab von der Message des Liedes. Der Winter ist dunkel, vor allem in Schweden, Norwegen und Finnland. ABBA sind Schweden bzw. Frieda ist Norwegerin mit deutschem Vater. Der Frühling steht für Neuanfang. Ich finde es zeitlos.

Actually it was a Switzerland
the promo videos that you see back in the day directed by one of their favorite directors.
This was done in a rush for a program that they needed to film something quick.
Favorite director of the promo videos was not around
so they just went outside the studios in Switzerland and their winter clothes and recorded in front of the giant snowman
It has no significant meaning contrary to what some people say Chiquita does not mean snowman in swedish LOL.
