    Community is one of those shows where the entire cast admits the working conditions were rough, but they loved working with each other so much it didn't matter

      ​@@shepardren8006on movies and TV shows, if the audio isn't clear enough when they get back to editing, they will bring in the actor to watch the clip and record the lines again to try and match it so the audience can hear it. If you start looking for it, you'll see it in pretty much every TV show and movie heh

    I'm a production sound mixer. If an actor is ADR-ing entire episodes, either the producers need to let the sound team actually do what they need to, or the sound team needs to get fired lol

      Harmon productions were notoriously behind schedule and above budget for weird things and perfectionism in writing that had cascading delays. Without additional insight into the specifics he’s referring to, I’m just imagining whatever was going on with the sound teams were affected by all of that. It was a very atypical show so undoubtedly weird dynamics at play.

    Kinda amazing what they put those actors through. Doing that much ADR means the sound crews messed up, and having to improv "Donald says something funny" is the writers out sourcing what they should be doing to the actors. Don't get me wrong, I love shows where they improv, but I hope the actors got paid more for both of those services.

He has said in interviews that those were the best to write cause of all their funny shenanigans and constant movie/tv references. And people enjoyed the more troy/abed centric episodes the most.

    that show was like lightning barely contained within a bottle, where there was somebody always trying to get the stopper back in and getting zapped and barely avoiding shattering the bottle. (And Chevy was always trying to knock it over.) The bottle is still around, Dan Harmon keeps rubbing his feet on the carpet and trying to zap it back to life. WHERE'S MY 'AND A MOVIE', DAN

    In college, I had a class where one of the projects was to ADR a few minutes of something the class previously recorded. For multiple very talented people (me excluded, I suck) that took weeks and still didn’t have great lip syncing and performance expression syncing. Doing entire episodes for a television series is unfathomable.

    I support modern sturdy mechanics gen 3-4 sturdy is useless
    sheer cold fissure strats nerf yourself and they are so late in learnsets too only getting stopped by an aggron and an odd geodude messing up my OHKO accent to utter dominance oh no
    Every sturdy pokemon also has an alternate gen 3 ability in case sturdy doesn't make sense for a trainer battle

      ADR can happen for loads of reasons. Differences in equipment, changing scripts. It doesn’t just happen cuz the audio was bad the first attempt.

      Automated Dialogue Replacement. It’s a process done in post-production, where the actor(s) go and record new and/or additional dialogue in a recording studio after the actual filming has been done. This can also be done to get a higher-quality audio of the lines to be played over the scene(s) should the original audio quality not be up to snuff.
