I feel like running backs were built different back in the day then they are now and in the mid 2000's! The RB's in the pre 2000's had much longer careers, and the #1's were carrying the ball way more than the backups. Nowadays, they split carries with 1 to 2 running RB's and have shorter careers!

First, comparing numbers from different eras of football is ignorant because of RULE CHANGES that made it possible to begin with.
Second, Earl Campbell of Houston Oilers was the most dominate RB, could beat you with power or speed, no one man tackled him.
Just look up a highlight reel of Earl Campbell flattening LBs, knocking LBs backwards 5 yards while running over them.
Priest Holmes is soft as Charmin compared to Earl Campbell.
