The Faito cable car is a cable car that connects the city of Castellammare di Stabia with Mount Faito, from which the cable car takes its name: the exercise is managed by the Volturno Autonomous Authority.
It was opened to the public on 24 August 1952 with the predominantly tourist purpose of connecting Monte Faito with the coastal line: the valley station was located in Castellammare di Stabia, near the Circumvesuviana railway station, on the Naples - Sorrento railway, already creating at the time an interchange between train and cable car.
The plant has a downstream station, located in the Castellammare di Stabia station, where there are also all the organs necessary for its operation, also called the driving station, and an upstream station, at a height of about 1,100 meters, called the station. return: the power of the two motors is about 180 kW.
During the route, three trestles cross to change the slope: the journey of about 3 kilometers is covered in 8 minutes, thanks to a speed of 7.5 meters per second.
The Faito cable car is usually active in spring and summer.
