That's what I said in my post I didn't know this existed. I didn't know people landed that badly or that possibly unsafely without another person's help. Those coaches are saving lives and people from broken necks.
Господи, как они их ловят.. Респект и ,, уважуха,, восхищаюсь их быстротой и реакцией. Сколько травм могло бы быть... Сколько жизней они спасли и остались за кадром, никто не видит их труд...
I coached for 20+ years and a good spotter can tell when an athlete is in trouble. I’ve saved numerous gymnasts from bad/dangerous landings and when I was competing saved by spotters. When I see these clips it brings it all back for me.
I work in a structural engineering office and I know what forces are at work there, regardless of whether the athletes are small, light or children. Especially when catching people who are in rotation. All the more my respect for all those who bravely stand there and provide assistance!
The save of the girl on the asymmetric bar happened at my club’s competition (International Gymnix in Montreal) around… 5-6 years ago I think. If I remember correctly she didnt finish her routine because her coach saw she was not mentally able to do it safely on that day. This is another thing about preventing an injury : knowing your athletes and dont let them do things they are not fully safe to do today.
I just had a scary fall today, I was doing my regular pass (round off back handspring back tuck front pike) when I got lost in the air on my back tuck, I never have so I didn’t know what to do, so I kinda just landed on my head, my neck made a loud crack sound, and I now can’t move my neck very well. Be safe out there kids, and remember if you ever want to do artistic gymnastics, BE CAREFUL!!
@@kunbi17I do many things I’m still young so I don’t know what I want to do in life so right now I make shirts to earn a little extra money, im in archery, I do gymnastics, and im also in a theatre group. My profile just has shirts because that is one of the ways I promote my business.
@@SmithsSatisfyingShirtsl recall doing the balance beam in jr high with my desert boots on. Pissed at my teacher. That’s as far as l got in gymnastics. Really regrettable looking back on it. I went with the softball angle, if you catch my drift.
Not so many. Saving is theyr job and they do it very well. Maybe not always as spectacular as the first clip, but you probably get safed muliple times per day while training.
Not that much. We use lots of different drills to build each part of each movement in a really safe way. We don’t let gymnasts do a more advanced drills (or try the movement in a whole) if they are not ready physically or mentally. And of course, those safe happens in practice so both coaches and athletes trust each other and are used to it (yes, an athlete can injure their coach who spot them. We teach our athletes very early on the different things they have to do so we can work together safely. Because if you injure your coach in a moment you really need it, he will not be able to save you!) Usually the coach only have to give a little more height or slow down a movement to correct the position (it depends on the movement!) but other time its pushing a mat at the right time and place or pulling the rope on which the gymnast is attached and the last resort is a big save like those in the video.
I never knew any of this ever existed I just thought they did the thing and jumped down and landed or maybe fell on their butt. But those broken neck saves are pretty awesome. And I can't believe someone can do a jump from their foot to their hands in a spinning motion so quickly and in so many rotations until this video.
Their job is just as important as a first responder or a fire fighter. In my honest opinion. I understand the job of an EMT is to save lives. These guys job is to make sure the EMT doesnt have to show up. First line of defense in this profession and its incredible. Years i wondered how these gymnists can go so fast and now it all makes sense after seeing this. Those slow redirected catches are my favorite.
I love watching these. Amazing to think there would be some people dead if it weren't for quick thinking and reacting. Also amazing the trust you have to have in your spotters and self
They are trained to do that. You can see from where the gymnast jumped , how the body is placed at the end of the “push” phase (just before you actually do the movement) where the athlete is going to go.
I binge watching your shorts to Gymnastics saves and i would tell, that you have many dublicates. The half video here (Version 8) i know from part 1 to 7.
The little boy in the red would have either broke his neck and been a quadriplegic or broke his neck and died. Same for the little girl in black that the bigger girl missed and was luckily caught by the man at the last second.
You have to have loads of training for this I’m a coach myself and at a competition a girl tore her ACL doing a roundof backflip and I got her but she tore in but it could be worse

That first one man. I've never seen a better save. He knew he had one chance
But i really wonder if the mat really helped and he did not get injured. Cause it seemed relativly slim.
Ces types sont formidables ! Combien d'accidents ont ils pu éviter grace à leur force et leur rapidité ! Un Grand Bravo à eux !
Ta raison bravo à eux
Blond boy in red WENT FOR IT. I admire his confidence. And of course his spotters reflexes
It's truly amazing how they realize they're about to fall even before the gymnasts themselves❤
the first one still has me flabbergasted after 3 times of watching the whole vid 💀🙏🏻
Thanks for the Acro representation! So few people know about it unfortunately.
im a acro gymnast
so true! i did acro for a few years and i feel the community is very unknown within gymnastics

Also since you're saying acro... does this mean this is a step above regular gymnastics and it's acrobatic gymnastics?

I was just wondering about her. Wondering if that hit hurt her low back or anything. She hit it twice 😖

Statistically: For every save, there's how many who where injured lifelong?
