Wow. BWV 200 "ich seinen Namen" is amazing. The whole concert was superb, but that piece...[EDIT] This is my first time hearing Bach's Erbarme Dich. It's voicings and harmonies are fresh and "sunny" for a minor key piece despite the subject text of a mercy plea, nice.
Well the Grimani was new to me and quite delightful it was. So rare to have baroque music by a woman composer. The CPE Bach string symphony sounds very tricky and exposed for the violins who executed their parts with great delicacy and style, especially for a concert performance.
There are two things that bother me: 1. The man on the harpsichord should give fewer instructions, then the musicians could play a bit more freely and would be happier! 2.Victoria Mullova plays a modern violin with a historical bow ...
Not that I care what bothers you, but what do you mean by "modern violin"? It's a Guadagnini made in 1750 with gut strings. Bach had died that year, and Haydn was only 18 - what's wrong with playing their music on a fiddle contemporary to them?
@@sasha42196 they mean exactly what they say. Mullova is playing a violin in modern set up- fingerboard too long and angled etc and bridge wrong shape and too high and sge’s playing with a chinrest and shoulder rest. It’s sadly becoming the norm- modern violinist makes minimal adjustments ie turns up with violin in modern set up, plays in a modern style and thinks that a couple of gut strings and a baroque bow makes it ok. All the other players on the stage are baroque specialists. I find Mullova’s performance stale, lifeless and unstylistic. Bojan cicic the leader of AAM could have done a much better job.
Richard Egarr = great !
Marvelous Viktoria ❤️

I loved the supremely refined playing of Viktoria Mulova. This was very classy Bach! The whole concert, though, was sublime. Thank you.
Love the countertenor!
Beautiful music and a beautiful performance, thank you so much for sharing this concert.
Such life and musicality in these performances! Well done to all.
