I was looking for one of these. As a traveler I’ve found rounds to be different everywhere. And everywhere thinks their way is the only way it’s done. I’ve had rounds where not one person introduced themselves or their title and their badges weren’t visible. Their tool was all over the map and I’m used to an organized tool. It was awful. One thing I would add is if they are on VTE and PPI or not. Also if they are at goal rate for tube feed or not. I absolutely love love your videos! ❤

@@KendraRN nursing needs to be less bullying and more about bringing the whole team up to high level team nursing. Nursing needs to be more about helping each other learn and thrive for the best outcomes for patients. Again, I love love your videos! To me, if a new nurse is struggling that’s a huge reflection on their preceptor and educational and morale environment at the facility.

As an old ICU/ ER nurse, I give you big
props. Excellent presentation and doing it without consulting a paper. I miss my old job but I don't miss some of the conditions we had to work under. What you are doing is sorely needed, especially for our new nurses who may not have a knowledgeable preceptor. I do worry for them because managers are not very good with paring nurses with the right patient acuity, and it can spell trouble for both. Hopefully, with nurses such as yourself, there can be significant improvement in the management of our patients and the overall outcome at the end of the day.
Continue to do what you are doing and I do love your honesty. It is refreshing!

I'm in my last week of Med-Surg 1 but had to call the rapid response team and send a pt to ICU a few weeks ago. I was able to accompany my patient for her CT scan than ICU transfer. I ended up doing 3 rounds of CPR on her (ER doc gave me props on my chest compression skills) because she coded. It was very exhilarating to say the least. I definitely think I belong in ICU. Thank you for providing this information on rounds as to what's important and how to present. I'm a great speaker however the medical field is a different ballfield.

I absolutely love this. 14 yr RN here, but I’ve only done ICU for a year, and these are things I had to figure out for myself. You can’t sound meek and quiet. When you don’t know something, own it and let the team know you didn’t have a chance to look it up. Don’t act like you know when you don’t. Confidence and knowing what you know and knowing what you don’t.

My rounds I get as A cna from noc: the patient did/didn't have a BM. Literally, that is all and I absolutely HATE IT! that gives me ZERO info on a pts status, esp if they had a change in status the prior day or are a new admit. Even though I'm a cna, I make sure I'm as thorough as possible as an AM CNA because one day I will become a nurse, and I'll have to give/receive info that is more crucial than if they had a BM overnight. Thank you for this!

The day I had to work a 12 hr shift on Christmas Day, meaning I had to leave @05:45 am return 09:00 pm, my 9 year old daughter was in tears and said “ this is not a good Christmas” , I decided to give my 2 weeks notice. This was especially unfair, since I had this Christmas Day off, but was mandated in because of a call in. You are absolutely right, nursing has become a regular grueling profession, with no control over your life, very little appreciation, and many burned out colleagues. I have been a nurse for 34 years, also an MSN, and I applaud you for taking control over your time.❤

Great content!! Can you do a video getting and receiving report in Med Surg? Like that's the main parts without giving a whole drawn out movie. Alot of times some nurses don't wanna hear certain things and will cut you off or say in their head "hurry up". They even say I got it, you don't have to go through all of that.
Then some people wanna know every single thing. That's the frustrating part. Do you have a good report or brain sheet? This topic isn't really discussed enough and it's needed. Thanks Kendra!
