Hi! I’ve been on RUclips for over three years, actually before The Cottage Fairy (though I am a great fan of hers! 😄) I feel my content differs significantly from a stylistic viewpoint, and besides, anyone can be passionate about living a simplistic and beautiful lifestyle ☺️ thanks for watching!
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed this somewhat chaotic Vlog. I’m really excited to grow in this space, and share some creative projects that have been stewing for quite some time. Let me know what you think! Happy Sunday 💐
So pleased I discovered you and can’t wait to see your sewing videos as I’m just starting to give it a go. Growing up my mum made everything for us so at long last I’m going to give it a go. ❤
Yay, welcome! ☺️ I’m excited to share the sewing stuff, I hope it can be useful or at least inspiring. That’s what you have to do, just dive in and learn! Good luck 🍀
Please do not make your videos 'more perfect ' ... The reason I (and a lot of people here) watch your beautiful gifts is because you make them from the heart. I have a lot of respect for your knowledge about herbs, sewing and...life. Thank you for being here on youtube. Goodnight from Belgium and take care. Maggie 🌿
Hey, thank you! 😄 Actually the problem was I was over-editing and trying to make the videos perfect, so if anything the videos will be a bit more relaxed like this one was ☺️ I’m happy you liked it! Thanks for watching ✨
Hey, thank you! We are always changing, so who knows what's next? That's the beauty in life. I appreciate you watching, and I hope you're doing well! 😄
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful life you have! I love your kitty 😻 you have definitely inspired me! This is so lovely and peaceful thank you 🙏
Oh, thank you! I definitely shared my favorite parts of life here, and Spring is the best time to highlight all of it, I think 😄 thanks for watching! 💐
I'm 54 and have always wanted to learn to sew the long skirts that I wear . I have a strange aversion to sewing machines however . Maybe you'll inspire me to jump in and hand sew something ! 🌻
How new is that molcajete (mortar & pestle)? I ask because its really light gray. Did you cure it before use? Do you know what its made from? If its from granite or basalt it should be cured before you do anything else with it if you haven't. Even though manufacturers make them smooth, they can still impart micro amounts of the rock into whatever you're grinding. There's plenty of videos on how to cure a molcajete (you'll want to type that in). I'd recommend sea salt and dry white rice. Grind the rice in the stone mortar with the pestle (using all parts that will be touching herbs and food) and make sure to get the salt and rice in every portion of the bowl part of the mortar. If it comes out white, you're fine and can ignore me. If it comes out even slightly gray, then that's proof it needed to be cured as its the rock mixing in with the salt and rice. You can use a little bit of water as well, but mainly its the salt and rice. Rice is best because it takes work to grind it and so it will come out smooth. I do alternating with both. Once its been cured, you don't have to do it anymore. With mine, it took about 3 or 4 times of new rice before it came out white. There's videos showing to do this with garlic, but since you're using it for herbal medicine, you could, but its not necessary. I use my molcajete for grinding my herbals for medicine, but also for making salsa. Rinse it thoroughly with a clean brush thing that you only use for the mortar and pestle to keep it fresh. It always worries me seeing them because I don't think a lot of folk who do this step. I use the word "molcajete" because its the Mexican Spanish word for a stone mortar and pestle made from volcanic rock. But I use it for any stone one because that's just me.
No problem. Spread the word. Not sure how well known this need to cure a granite or basalt mortar and pestle is even known. I only ever hear about it in Latino/Hispanic circles. Lots of videos online both in Spanish as well as English. If they show garlic, just look for a video that doesn't. The oils do help it though, but its not necessary if you're only using for herbs. Unless you want to. Its actually surprising how many things need "seasoned"/"cured". Last year I was watching a video about how to season/cure wooden products and that was interesting to me as its not anything I'd ever been taught, but also made sense. I just bought a container of tea and it came with a handcrafted wooden spoon carved from an artisan in Kenya and now that I think of it, I'll have to search for videos regarding curing them. @@TheHearthFairy
This was such a lovely video to watch. I love seeing the cinematic types but vlogs feel like I’m sitting down with a friend and catching up. This is my first time commenting so it’s nice to meet you 😊 and I look forward to what you have in store for us here.🤍
Thank you for taking time to comment! I love the cinematic types as well, but it was fun to chat a bit more candidly. Haha I’m excited to share as well! Thanks for watching 😄💜
Did you copy the cottage fairy?

Hey there! That’s really good to know. I’ll have to cure it then. Thanks for sharing your advice! 😄

You better start investing in some better garden tools 😅
lol I know! My grandma always uses a big spoon for digging up weeds, so I suppose it's endearing to me. One thing at a time :)
