- What a reading year! In 2023 I read 65 books and this is my attempt to rank them from worst to best; a lot of sci-fi but other genres are also represented.

What a fantastic year of reading you had! Awesome.
Thank You! I had more fun reading in 2023, than any other year I can recall.
bart....just found you!!!!😊❤😊
Thank YOU! ❤ I'm so glad you're here. 😀
Incredible list! You gave me a lot of new books to add to my list. Also loved 11/22/63, I think it's one of King's all time best.
Thank You!
I 100% agree about 11/22/63. It’s a great read start or finish; some of Kings books perhaps suffer from poorly executed endings.
Just found the channel and really enjoyed the list. Your honesty, both positive or negative, was quite refreshing.
Thank YOU! 😀
Happy to hear that about Cerulean Sea. I have it and haven't read it yet.
I liked it a lot. It was a breath of fresh air. 😀
I've been spending years trying to find a new favorite book after Hyperion and it just hasn't happened. Glad to know I'm not alone in this problem lol.
Excellent list and summaries! My TBR just got a little longer
Hyperion is great! I'm starting a reread soon. I want to refresh my memory before going into Fall of Hyperion. Have you read all 4 books in the cantos? If yes, how did you feel about them? I know not everyone likes the followups.
Thanks for watching and commenting. 😀
Great list. I almost closed my laptop and walked away when you didn't like Hitchiker's Guide. I figured we would have nothing in common after that, but I'm glad I stuck it out. Lots of agreement neat the top and some new TBR for me. Thank you!
😂 I would not blame you for walking away... I'm the same way about books I love. But thanks for sticking to the end! 🙌
John Williams wrote a novel called Butcher’s Crossing, which is also a worthwhile read.
Hi, thanks. Yes, it’s on my long TBR, Augustus likely ahead of it.
11/22/63 is the only book I've ever closed at the end and just sobbed for a minute.
My reading experience was very similar. It’s the only book in recent memory that brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for commenting!
Great list! I'm also glad I'm not the only one who didn't connect with Stranger in a Strange Land. 😂
Thanks, Thomas! I think it was the only book I dnf last yr....
Great video! I think Children of Time is my favorite sci-fi book of all time.
Thanks Daniel! It’s definitely top five for me. I think 🤔 Maybe sometime next year I’ll put together a top 10 all time favorites list.
A very solid reading year Bart! I must be better organised about keeping track of what i read so i can do a similar list at the end of 2024! I really enjoyed the first 2 Stormlight books but got bogged down and eventually DNFd the 4th. I got the first Suneater book for xmas and I'm looking forward to reading it. 👍
Keeping track of the reads is a good idea. I keep it simple. After I finish a book I add it to the list in my journal with a few notes attached. Suneater (book 1 anyway) was great fun; it helps if you like sci-fantasy as it reads a bit like one.
I really enjoyed watching this and thanks for taking the time to rank ALL the books you’ve read this year instead of just a Top 10.
I’m not a big fan of Hitchhikers Guide either but, like you, perhaps I need to give it a reread sometime. I reread Wool this year and Shift for the first time and enjoyed both. 11/22/63 is in my Top 3 of all time and I try to recommend it whenever possible. Adding Whalefall to my list, sounds quite interesting.
Hope you have a great reading year in 2024!🎉📚
Thank you! I definitely hope I read as many good books next year as I did this year.
Whalefall was a really interesting read. It is alternates between “live” action and flashbacks and I liked one quite a bit more than the other.
11/22/63 is a 💎
😃 Thanks for watching!
great list! definitely added a few things to my tbr pile. A goal for myself in 2024 is to read a little more scifi than i did in 2023.
That's a great goal, Tom. 😀
Happy New Year and congrats on your channel's recent, explosive, success! 👍
You had a great reading year! Totally agree with your number 1 and 2 choices. I just read Children of Time this month, and it's also in my top 3 for this year. Definitely excited to read Ubik! Someone also gave me a copy of Annihilation for Christmas, it wasn't in my TBR before but it sounds like it should be!
Oh Ya! Ubik is great; I saw the beautiful edition you got. 👍
Annihilation is great, but maybe not for everyone, hit or miss, I think.
Thanks!
Agree 100% Hyperion was the best book I read this year. Children of Time, House of Suns and Boys Life were not far behind.
That’s a good lineup, I love House of Suns and Boys Life is one I definitely want to read. Have you read Swan Song?
@@bartsbookspace I am actually reading Swan Song right now. I’m about three quarters of the way through and I’m loving it!
@@Marginwalker1972 That’s great to hear.
I bought a used copy recently but haven’t started it yet. I’ll definitely read it sometime in 2024.
Impressive list! I definitely want to read “Five Decembers” and “Metamorphosis”. I’m also contemplating “Stoner”
Yes, I recommend all three with an emphasis on Five Decembers; although I would be most curious to find out if you'd love Stoner as much as I do. 🤞
Sounds like a great year. I mean fifty eight books better than HGttG!? 😋. Hoping I get to some of these next year.
It was a great reading year for me!
For some reason I’m just not a big fan of HGttG…
Hope you read a ton of great books in 2024!
You disappoint me like you were disappointed by To Your Scattered Bodies Go..
Oh well.
I loved the idea of To Your Scattered Bodies Go, but not the execution. Lots of books out there, and not everyone is going to like the same things. Thanks for checking out the vid. 👍
