Been that way since Nuclear Seasons in 2013... Only one other person, a total random stranger on a flight between Calgary and New York, ever knew who she was at the time because we were both listening to it at the same time randomly... Gotta love sh*t like that! I also feel the same way about the Allie X album she just released this spring... Genius but few people know about her...
suffering with anorexia really does make you cancel on dinner plans and any plans where you might be photographed, and everyone reads it as you being flaky but in reality, you really did want to go but the anxiety leading up to it just won’t let you. I feel for lorde and charli so much on that
That was also what Boy George said to Pete Burns of Dead Or Alive in their later years during an interview that Boy did for a radio show. Their 80's rivalry could have been a fantastic friendship.
"let's work it out on the remix" is such a revolutionary lyric which since the remix came out i've seen so many videos of different people saying other artists should "work it out on the remix"
honestly the moment the remix came out, i freaked out because both of them are some of my favorite artists, and hearing lorde's verse made me extremely emotional because she was so honest. it was such a wild but perfect collab for the girl, so confusing remix
The night before she released it, while I was at Partygirl in Mexico City, she played “Green Light” right after “Girl, so confusing. In that moment, I knew a collaboration was coming.
@@DanielzeugirdoR Same! And being a longtime lorde fan their collab hooked me and now I'm getting so deep into the Charli lore and I got concert tickets lol
i didn’t think this video was going to make me cry but women’s relationships can be so beautiful and easy. realizing we’re all like other girls in all the ways that truly count is such a beautiful moment in every woman’s life regardless of how they came to that realization and i’m glad these kind of “oh we were both in our own heads and that’s all it was. i have your back now that i understand you” moments are something that even celebrities with as large of lives as these two can publicly have. “girl power i suppose”
The fact that Marina chimed in made this moment even better for me. There have been a few monolithic pop moments recently, this one and when Kylie and Madonna shared the stage for the first time. Two moments I am glad I lived to see
This really shoes how important it is to talk openly, I mean they spent a decade thinking there was a problem which could’ve been resolved with an honest conversation
ah the classic 'i have depression and don't want to interact' meets the 'i have anxiety and WILL overanalyze why you are not interacting' dynamic, BEEN THERE!! i assume it's because lorde is just dealing with her own stuff, but i do not think of charli's life as being a party right now. to me it seems that charli has been in deep mourning since SOPHIE passed
There actually is one! They collab way back in charli's early days when she toured with Marina on her US tour for Electra Heart. look up Just Desserts by Marina, it's sooo underrated
honestly i think this song is so touching and healing for so many women and femmes who have had friendships fall apart due to socially being compared to each other constantly in childhood and teenage hood. this song makes me tear up every time.
prior to quarantine, i never really was an avid music listener, but lorde was always one of the standout artists in the small playlists i would make. i'm 19 now, so in middle school when melodrama came out, i was obsessed with green light and was always a standout song to me before i even knew the type of music that wasn't mainstream or played on the radio. when quarantine came around is when i truly became obsessed with music as a hobby. charli was the first artist, specifically her how i'm feeling now album, that inspired me to explore music that had been hidden away from me for all these years. not only is this an objectively iconic moment in pop culture, but is also really special to me that two formative artists for me were able to come together to create such a spectacular, honest piece of music. the selfish side of me really hopes charli is somewhere on an L4 track!!
i wish people took this and understood how misogynistic our culture is instead of acting like it's normal for two grown successful women to be dealing with fuckin body dysmorphia despite being seen as the standard to an extent. Like ofc it's nice to feel like you can relate to an artist you like or that hearing they have insecurities humanizes them but it's not normal, we should never act like women feeling this way is normal. It feels impossible but you can literally fight this feeling and if you see it in others encourage them to fight it too. Don't allow a culture built to destroy women's self esteems only to sell us back a "cure" to the problem it causes to ever fuckin win
The way your video and the song made me cry, but they were happy tears. I'm so happy they are showing unity. That's inspiring. Also, Lorde did an excellent job. I didn't expect here to sound so good in Charli's style. I feel bad for both of them for what they went through, but they don't have to go it alone anymore :')
this video was so insightful as someone who didn’t know about lorde and charli in the 2010’s, i just love how in the track whenever they say girl, it’s enunciated kind of like they’re calling out to each other, the pause before the “…girl” is like WOW i am so grateful to witness this moment in pop, people should work it out on the remix more. 🍏
Excellent video per usual!! ❤ Also, I never thought a song with two complete strangers (to me) talking stuff out and assuring each other could heal me so. Love them sooooo much.
The ‘there are three’ tease plus the way this track was named as the “…version with Lorde” really leads me to believe there is yet another version of this song to be released. Three versions. Marina, where u at, girl? 😘
The beauty of a fixed brocken relationship is so heartfelt especially in this case, I love brat so much and this is an example of why charli and lorde are two of the most talented artists of our generation.
I just listened to the song. Knew briefly of the lore and I got chills from the lorde’s verse. So honest and the song is so raw. I love the blunt lyrics and fun chorus
I love love loovvee your videos!! The way you articulate everything in such an eloquent but digestible way is the besstttt!!! I also just think this song has seriously taught me so much and led to much introspection about my insecurities and relationships… liiikkeee charli and lorde are really going the extra mile with this high quality and meaningful remix ughhh i’m loving this era 😭😭😭
Thank you so much!!🥹🍏omg l know, it's got me rethinking everything and I don't think we've ever heard a collab with this type of conversation before!! It's a big moment in pop 🫶🏻🥲
this is still my favorite track from the brat era as a whole. it feels like it healed something in me, and i wasn't even in the beef!! it makes me cry a little sometimes still when i hear it. lorde was so fucking honest and open on the track and it really spoke to me. such an iconic song, one for the decade. thank you for this video
I cried the first time I heard this song and watching this video. I love the song so much and this video is such a great explanation of everything. I’ve never seen anything from your channel before but I will definitely be subscribing after this! 💚💚💚 Happy Brat summer!
Great channel. First time delving into this critically acclaimed album which definitely deserves it. Insane one of my favorite songs off the album was about Lorde. I dont know much about either artist but your video makes it so clear and honest. It’s refreshing to get a well made viewpoint from someone who knows almost nothing about female pop artists in general, and my gf is the biggest T Swift fan.. although I love this music so much more
I can’t tell you how much I love your videos - thoughtful, informative, and entertaining. I get so excited when you upload! Can’t wait to see you blow up.
Listening to the track made my eyes well up in tears, i just love love and community and women finding that platonic love for each other that lasts a lifetime.

to have a woman you had these complex feelings about say "i ride for you" is so bone crushingly sweet im crying
🥹😭🍏
apparently the feeling is mutual according to the lyrics so I'm also crying for their beautiful camaraderie
I also cried when the video got to that part. I love this song so much and it means so much more to hear the story behind it
It's the opposite of a diss track, a kiss-and-make-up track if you will. Icon behavior 💚💚💚
A bliss track!
"You've got your shit together, while I'm just a big mess."
"I thought you were the one with your shit together."
Funny how that works, doesn't it?

My new melodrama tbh closing the trinity with sophie's album

This track is unique. It's been years since a track affected me this much. Truly a moment for the pop music history books.
