It's turning into a running gag how Wolf can never hit his opponent lmao, I just imagine the party going "good job buddy, maybe you'll get em next time.."
I do wonder why that is. Is Wolf just super unlucky or is it a stat issue, that he doesn't get enough points oon his rolls? (or both? :D) But yeah, for me that's Karlach. Like, she gets advantage to her rolls and usually end up at like 75-90% hit rate but still manages to miss in about 75% of the cases. (Karmic dice are off ofc) She probably just stands there, yelling in frustration while my Druid, Gale and Astarion just do massive damage against whatever dared to stand somewhere. At least she can tank to some extend.
@@Aurirangprobably how game engines and game rng works. The rolls aren’t actually real and are pulled from a pre-rolled database and he just chose a predetermined fail roll.

See I also said that and didn't realize when you're done offing the leaders you come back out into the main area and EVERYBODY gangs up on you, thank GODS I had like 5 oil barrels between inventories on the party, blew it UP
@@extravagant_meatballlol I rescued Halsin and had him stay with me, ended up getting whole camp attacking me as soon as they saw him with me. "I wonder why she was wearing lightarmor as a paladin" -Said the Ranger wearing heavy armor and a two-handed sword You're a Front-line Ranger She's a Stealth Paladin.
If you wear any light or medium armor pieces on Karlach, she looses her barbarian unarmored defence. This goes for helmets, gloves and boots as well as body armor. So basically she should wear a good medium armor or no armor.
FYI in full release version you can cast Longstrider on everyone in your party, including Pets/Familiars, and even NPCs. It’s a ritual spell so free outside of combat and it’s not concentration so it won’t hamper things like Hunter’s Mark or Entangle. It last till long rest so it’s just a daily buff, like the cleric spell Aid (another spell I recommend you cast on your party even if you’re not planning on taking Shadowheart with you that particular day). Because they are daily buffs that don’t require concentration it’s not cheese or a big just how the spells function. I’m currently at Level 4 in my first run so I’ll update if I find anymore useful buffs that benefit the whole group.

200 hours in and I only realised this last night. You can use the Shift and CTRL keys in your inventory to select multiple items. Once selected you can right click and then you can send them to chars/camp/mark all as wares, drag and drop them etc. Real game changer from an inventory management pov
Wait... WHAT??? Wow I just tested it. Same boat - over 100 hours in and had no idea you could multi-select. I got really nervous for a second with the Laezel Shadowheart encounter. Your character's interaction with Shadowheart has been so amazing to this point. I would've happily done away with Laezel on this playthrough to not have even possibly jeopardised that
Same. I didn't have either on my team, so i thought they just got on each others nerves way too mcuh while i was away. Luckily no lasting harm done either. Well. If i''d have to choose, i'd have taken Laz'ael. Need a tank from time to time. x)
Honestly, I'd still give the Gloves of the Growling Underdog to Karlach so that she could have advantage with out everything else having advantage against her. Also, just saying, Wolf: *aggros every person in the room due to killing one of them* Wolf: *Enters new room* Oh, these guys don't know about that and don't hate me. Also Wolf: *aggros every person in the new room due to killing one of them*

In my normal playthrough I am rolling with a Lore Bard, headingnto the Goblin camp/Swamp area now. I've got Shadowheart, Lae'zell and Wyll in my party. With my skills and high dex, and expertise, I am both the face and the Skulldugger in the party, so I don't need Astarian. @1:58:00. I wonder what happens to Volo if you kill all the goblins at the camp but leave Volo in his cage? Does he escape on his own? Or does he starve to death?
I think he escapes on his own. I slew all the goblins, wanted to go check on Volo and he wasn't in the cage. When i took a long rest, he had snuck into my camp.
@@spamfilter32 You're not too far off, actually. In Forgotten Realms lore, he's actually the anchor point for the Weave. So, he's low-key holding the fabric of the universe together. Arguably more important than a lot of gods in that setting. But yeah, this is why Elminster is always keeping tabs on him, and why he seems to have such weird luck. How he always seems to get into all sorts of trouble, and how he seems to mess up at so many things, and yet, it all somehow works out (almost perfectly, in many cases). Oh, and as far as I know, Volo himself has no awareness of this. He doesn't know he's the anchor for the Weave, or that Mystra has Elminster keeping an eye on him, he just runs around trying to record everything about strange creatures and getting himself in (and out) of impossible situations on a near-daily basis. >_
Man, I'm in a low place right now. This is one of the few things I look forward to. Hope you replay as an Eldritch fighter and upload that, too. Great content.
In total honesty, i xant decide which character i like better lol... The ranger knight is pretty awesome because his morals, but i enjoy the "no caring" evil sorlock for his strive for power!!
That's so unusual that you could use speak to the dead on the mindflayer there, I saw the corpse and was genuinely excited thinking "Oh! I can't wait to use that spell and see what kind of lore I may gleam from this" and it told me the body was too badly damaged I believe, or some other reason that it couldn't be used, and I felt so let down and thought how severely missed of an opportunity that seemed to be. This is far from the only thing I've encountered that seems to be different between people's runs. I saw some other body in somebody else's playthrough that they tried using the spell on but didn't work, yet it DID on my playthrough. And much larger of an example, pretty huge in fact considering how big of a deal some people make of how powerful the item is for some builds.. The ogre that drops that tainted? Headband of intellect, I got it to drop for me. In one of my saves, I just immediately initiated combat and it dropped for me. But some people on the wiki are saying that it doesn't drop for them at all since release, or that "Oh, it does, but you just have to do this and that first" and that just wasn't the case in my experience. So strange. Especially that it's things that don't SEEM to be the type of things that should be affected by your previous choices. I could completely understand, and even expect, some NPCs to have a diff reaction to you based on something you did earlier in your game. But my above examples don't apply there.
As a guess, it’s likely that behind-the-scenes dice rolls have something to do with the differing results. Like those perception checks that seem to go off automatically when entering a space or looking at something.
I was going to make a Rogue as my first character (don't usually play them but handy to have one in every party RPG but I don't like Astarion) but the more I watch this let's play the more I want to copycat this build!
I'm ngl I wanted you to die so bad when you fought the whole inside of the goblin camp all to free a goblin that ended up hostile anyway. Just felt like there was so much dialogue you missed out on.
Hi Wolf, I noticed, that the reckless attack is a reaction in the game that pops up, when U miss a target. So U don't need to select it before the attack. At least thats how it is right now.
i really REALLY want to watch this series....BUT I CANT!!!!!! there are too many spoilers haha. love it though. i will come back to this series at some point after my own play through(s)
Never seen that Shadowheart flashback. I've read somewhere that you can gain approval too fast and miss some dialogue because of it and I think that's what happened to me.
While that might be possible, more often the issue is gaining approval faster than you are striking up conversations. Note that the flashback happened when he was out in the world with Shadowheart, not in camp. Some interactions are camp only, some are world only. And this is why it pays to talk to your companions not only every time they have an exclamation point, but after any major event, or anything you think might be relevant to them. (Also helps to grab people who might be tied to a location, like how Wolf grabbed Shadowheart to go through the goblin camp, because it was over a Selune temple, and that's tied to her backstory. Or how he grabbed Wyll to meet Karlach, and used Karlach to fight the fake templars. This kind of thing happens with a lot of characters who have unique dialog or interactions with certain locations if it's related to them.) It seems like a lot of people miss dialog or scenes with companions because they only talk to them when they have an exclamation point. But like I said, it's good to talk to them any time you take a long rest (especially if you want to raise approval, since some cool dialog is hidden in the non-exclamation camp talks), and any time anything big happens in the world. If you are worried you might not know when that is, think of it like this... if it had it's own voiced cutscene, and the choices you made earned approval or disapproval, then it's likely something worth talking to people about afterwards. Worst case scenario, they say nothing and you move on. Once you do this in one playthrough, you'll have a better idea which events to talk to them about for all later playthroughs. And once you have played once, and know the companion's stories, you also should know what locations are likely to be more related to them. That also unlocks a lot of dialog. Some are obvious, like taking Shadowheart to the Temple of Shar in act 2, but others are might not be as obvious, like Wolf taking her to the goblin camp because it's connected to Selune. It's a good detail to keep track of though, as there's a lot of hidden scenes like this that only happen in set locations (if you have decent approval with the person).
The battle in the goblin scattered in the first part of the video, I have no idea how you do this. I tried twice, 40 minutes each attempt and got nowhere close. I’m terrible at this game!
@@WolfheartFPS Ohhh I guess that makes sense since it says "finish up loose ends" or whatever. That trigger is a little much considering it lets you go back immediately. Good to keep in mind.
I'm interested in a no tadpole powers, fully deny illithid run but i'm going to watch this till the end. Have a friend that may let me play on their pc occasionally so i may be able to do a slow burn run of my own over a few years 😅
I prefer to play things out in these types of game. Whatever happens happens and I have to deal with it. Makes the moment to moment gameplay and choices that I make feel much more meaningful.
Just keeps getting better! I have a question: because i enjoy conserving spell slots to the best of my ability and avoiding full rests until absolutely necessary, will i be at risk of progressing the companions' stories too slowly? Is it better to full rest every couple of battles? I much prefer doing so after 3-5 encounters, depending on their difficulty... is this bad for story progress?
hmm good question. I'd say you are probably fine, as the game wont let you miss anything too important. With that said I am not entirely sure where companion quests fall into that category
I actually found this a bit - I got to the end of Act 1 with some of Karlach's conversations missed, so it forced a couple of conversations on me just before moving on to Act II. It appears that it will tie up those loose ends before letting you move on.
Do note that I update off of the review copy and onto version 1.0 a few episodes from now. Also... just saying get ready for episode 8. It is intense.

I think ive been watching on 1080 so far, just switched to 1440 and WOW! Really shows the quality of the game.
Also, love your style of lets play :D
Seriously? There is so many possibilities to explore and dialogues to have and you attack the Goblins again, hoping the camp won't notice.
It's a video game chill out. I tried something and it didn't work out. It is what it is
“We have to save that bear”. Differently from the animal companion, that bear can solo this room hahaha
When i finally foudn the place, Halsin already tore everything in this room a new one. I was very confused and slightly scared.
When Helsin joined you the goblins found it unbearable ! LOL
Been waiting for this all day! Wooo!
Also, just saying,
Wolf: *aggros every person in the room due to killing one of them*
Wolf: *Enters new room* Oh, these guys don't know about that and don't hate me.
Also Wolf: *aggros every person in the new room due to killing one of them*
I accidentally had to do the whole inside goblin fight from within the spider pit and it was so difficult to get out!
I am also playing a Beastmaster ranger but I am Half Wood Elf, I was feeling weak until I hit level 5. Now I am happy
Level 6 / 7 they get better!
@@WolfheartFPS Yeah but just getting to level 5 made me apreciate this sub-class more, since all animals now scale with your stats. I was following your ranger build you did 2 years ago, dual wielding with that level 4 feat. But I picked beastmaster instead of Hunter,I was almost respecting to hunter because my pets were dying too fast
@@WolfheartFPS Thanks for answering me
A non load playthrough but decided to be risky for the sake of experiment, make sense, still enjoyable tho
58:00 - given what happened on the Tactician playthrough, seeing this result is a nice tidbit. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."
I like Wolf's new catchphrase. YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME?!
And when I find her, I am adding Karlach and going to rock an all good party.
Just saw this pop up. Will have to watch this in bits and starts while at work.
Cheers
Thanks for doing this play through!
Have been enjoying my Drow Champion/Gloom Stalker build for my current playthrough. I made two different save points for diverging into one class more than the other. So one will be a 8th level Champion/4th level Gloom Stalker. The other one will go the other way, 4th level Champion/8th level Gloom Stalker, just to try out.
Me: systematically takes out isolated groups of goblins to make sure I’m not fighting everyone at once
Wolf: oopsie poopsie looks like we’re fighting an army now
lol I played act 1 so many times in early access, I do not have the patience anymore to systematically take out isolated groups of goblins :-D
@@WolfheartFPS understandable, the different approaches are nonetheless incredibly amusing, at some point into act 2 I stopped ungrouping my team for obvious fights. Positioning gets old after a while
I was level 3 and managed to sneak by that ogre and solve the puzzle down there. First wipes happened shortly after lol.
Love your Videos. isee you meet the devil in our camp. i have 5 long days rest, and im almost done with the Underdark xD got so manny supplies my chars can pick up anything xD
@Aurirang i secretly suspect that Volo is actually a god. He wanders the Faerun writting and recording forever.
@@spamfilter32
You're not too far off, actually.
@@KeyWiteWolf I guess letting him get burnt at the stake was a higher stakes decision than I realized then…
Man, I'm in a low place right now. This is one of the few things I look forward to. Hope you replay as an Eldritch fighter and upload that, too. Great content.
I really hope things get better for you soon friend. Appreciate you watching.
@@WolfheartFPS thank you!
Thanks for letting me know about the geforce thing. I'm loving this game so far
Awesome. Enjoy your run
Plus does your ranger ever hit haha
Watching this alongside my playthrough. Might have to stop this one to prevent any spoilers as I'm about to meet the Drow 😅
Learned a lot about combat this episode, even if most of it was how not to
lmao happy to help
I am really enjoying your playthrough mate!
Appreciate you watching
I was going to make a Rogue as my first character (don't usually play them but handy to have one in every party RPG but I don't like Astarion) but the more I watch this let's play the more I want to copycat this build!
Thanks for the uploads
Thanks for watching
Ah, yes, this episode was the Baldur's Gate DM deciding "oh hell no I'm putting the brakes on this murderhobo shite RIGHT NOW!" lol
I'm ngl I wanted you to die so bad when you fought the whole inside of the goblin camp all to free a goblin that ended up hostile anyway. Just felt like there was so much dialogue you missed out on.
Shadowheart looks badass in that hat
Hi Wolf,
I noticed, that the reckless attack is a reaction in the game that pops up, when U miss a target. So U don't need to select it before the attack. At least thats how it is right now.
I love a good old fashioned let’s play
i really REALLY want to watch this series....BUT I CANT!!!!!! there are too many spoilers haha. love it though. i will come back to this series at some point after my own play through(s)
Dude, you definately have been doing things the hard way. Lol Guess it keeps it interesting.
This kind of thing happens with a lot of characters who have unique dialog or interactions with certain locations if it's related to them.)
It seems like a lot of people miss dialog or scenes with companions because they only talk to them when they have an exclamation point.
No one's going to talk about how Karlach was sleeping on the side of the bed at 1:39:00
New to your channel. Love watching your vids and streams. Greetings from The Netherlands 🙂
Thanks much Hennys! Greetings back to you from the USA
2:07:30 So apparently according to your quest log, Zevlor is dead... Unclear if this is a bug on your game or if something actually happened to him.
I think I set this off by going to the mountain pass back in episode 6
@@WolfheartFPS Ohhh I guess that makes sense since it says "finish up loose ends" or whatever. That trigger is a little much considering it lets you go back immediately. Good to keep in mind.
me every 30 minutes : CAST YOUR SPELLS CAST YOUR SPELLLS BEFORE ENGAGING!!!!!
I'm interested in a no tadpole powers, fully deny illithid run but i'm going to watch this till the end. Have a friend that may let me play on their pc occasionally so i may be able to do a slow burn run of my own over a few years 😅
I'd like to rephrase a question.
So wolf in the goblin camp why didn't you just reload a save previous to the big fight?
I prefer to play things out in these types of game. Whatever happens happens and I have to deal with it. Makes the moment to moment gameplay and choices that I make feel much more meaningful.
@@WolfheartFPS will there be multiple let's play or just streams?
I see druids lacking in the origin character
Just keeps getting better! I have a question: because i enjoy conserving spell slots to the best of my ability and avoiding full rests until absolutely necessary, will i be at risk of progressing the companions' stories too slowly? Is it better to full rest every couple of battles? I much prefer doing so after 3-5 encounters, depending on their difficulty... is this bad for story progress?
hmm good question. I'd say you are probably fine, as the game wont let you miss anything too important. With that said I am not entirely sure where companion quests fall into that category
Appreciate it, thanks for doing what you're doing I'm really enjoying 🤙
I actually found this a bit - I got to the end of Act 1 with some of Karlach's conversations missed, so it forced a couple of conversations on me just before moving on to Act II. It appears that it will tie up those loose ends before letting you move on.
Maybe I missed it, but how did Zevlor and Asharak die in this playthrough?
I peaked the mountain pass in episode 6 which told the game that I left the tieflings behind. So they died lol
@@WolfheartFPS ahh I thought that might’ve been it, good to know ty!
Hmm just cleared this and by the time I got out there the worgs were already dead and couldn't find Halsin. Be interesting on how this plays out.
Sanctuary is a great spell
Great playthrough! Do you have a favourite class?
Love watching this play through. But man, you need to brush up on battle tactics! haha
I don't care that much when I'm in act 1. I'm just trying to get through the content haha already played this stuff a million times in early access
