Some thing I have learned is to always stretch notes downwards rather than up the scale..my A/B tests have confirmed for both piano and guitar that a better sounding instrument results...worth a try 🙏🏿🙏👍🎩🦄
This actually make sens as the higher pitch is by definition playing the sound faster. Therefor the sample get stretched and you get less details. Going down, you don't lose information.
@Bobby: That was a very useful video that pretty much contained everything that i always wanted to know about Kontakt, but were afraid to ask ;-) I've been messing about with Soundfonts (.SF2) back in the day of the Sound Blaster AWE32. But this looks way easier 👍 How can you link the Mod-Wheel to a parameter of the effects? For example, the amount of reverb.
Hey Man, I am teaching sampling at University and I use Kontakt for many years, thank you for this explanation it really helps me, one question though, is it possible to create a new instrument in the player version of Kontakt? Just so I know if it’s possible for my students to use the free version and do some sampling as well. Thanks again👍👌
Hey, Gonzalez. Kontakt player is just the shell that Kontakt instruments run through. So, you would need to have other Kontakt instruments in order to create new tracks within the Kontakt player. For something to get started with your students, Native Instruments has their free production suite called Komplete Start: www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-start/ You'll be able to run that inside of Kontakt player and get your students up and running! I hope that helps! Nick Pasquino, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3230, nick_pasquino@sweetwater.com
Hey, Patrick! Please may I ask a question about Kontakt? I have a huge library of ONE SHOTS. I have created Kontakt libraries of those shots. I understand how to do this and even how to spread one sample across the keyboard. What I'm trying to learn is how, once you have created the library of one shots and named it, how to you THEN select one of the samples and tell Kontakt to STRETCH it across the keyboard for use in a session. In other words, POST LIBRARY CREATION, when the entire keyboard is filled with one shots in that library. Is there a command to tell Kontakt to stretch the selected sample across the keyboard so you hear the scales using that one sample for that one session?
Hi, Phillip! Happy to help out with this. You may want to create a new patch using the sample(s) you want to map across the entire keyboard. I don't know of a way to do it from your existing patch of one-shots. However, you could create a new patch using the sample you want to stretch across the keyboard, and then use the Mapping Editor to specify the range and pitch. This section of the Kontakt manual shows how to do it: www.native-instruments.com/ni-tech-manuals/kontakt-manual/en/the-group-editor Of course, you might also try contacting Native Instruments for more detail, as they might know something that I don't. Hope this helps a bit, and thanks for your interest! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
Hi, i tried to create guitar library. For a more realistic sound, i want to add guitar fret noise for release. but i want guitar fret noise just for playing the chords not when i press a key. Can you help me? Is script needed?
V nice vid. Been looking at a lot of samplers tryna find the best for my workflow. One feature is layering. I want to be able to layer a bunch of sounds, like keys + rain sounds etc. Is kontakt good at that? i saw you can do some layering, but I wonder how much. The other thing is I'm wondering about granular synthesis and if kontakt can do that or if you've tried
probably some day. i gave myself a plugin ban for now tho. just using what ive got. Using Bitwig and their native sampler is actually pretty great. including for what i mentioned like layering and granular synethesis
Excellent educational value; just what i needed, thanks! Was kinda hoping there was a download link for that thumb piano sample!!! Ok, maybe that's a bit much to ask :-)
4:17 here, you should have cut out your microphone. As we’re listening to the recording without noise removal and then with noise, there’s considerable noise from your microphone… so we don’t really hear the difference clearly.
Why search for the perfect sample when you can make it! Sample more of our studio guides by subscribing!

I just sampled some water glasses and I second this notion.
Try up & down!
excellent tutorial! nice and short at the correct technical level!
super educative, thanks, Sweetwater!
So weird, I just brought my kalimba downstairs to sample, searched youtube for how to sample using Kontakt, and this was the first video that came up!
We need more videos from this guy! Had me cracking up when bringing the samples into melodyne. "Fun isn't it" 😂. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! Looking forward to experimenting with this.

After create, may I save it as a "file" to use in my future projects? and load on other computer? Which kind of file is it?
Such an excellent tutorial and so useful! Just what I needed today!
Thank you very much. Never know about how powerful the Kontakt that I already have. Auto-Subscribed. 👍🏼
This was super fun!
Great video!
Bobby did an excellent job!
MAKE HIM DO MORE!
I can't drag any audio files on to the Kontakt keyboard for some reason...any idea why that might happen?

I have a question tho. Already armed with the sample noted you need, how long would it take to actually make the library afterwards ?
Great video! The right term for the finger piano is 'Kalimba' by the way ;)
I think you just sold me on Kontakt 😁
hey thanks this was very straightforward no nonsense explanation!
how do you save and load though
Yeah, this part is oddly not covered
Thanks a lot for this simple and clear video !
Thanks! Very helpful :)
You can select all and commit, just unlock merge region or whatever it says
Bobby, how do you add factory snapshots? I know that it has to be licensed to be used, but how do you do it? Is it scripted?

@@sweetwater No, I already know that. That link tells me nothing about the process of CREATING Factory snapshots FOR a licensed instrument.

I really want to see how to add an image to the instrument.

The general rule of thumb is: If you want to make sampled instruments, then use Kontakt. It’s the industry standard for a million reasons.

Neat summery - thanks !!!
How do you snap to the start of the audio like that?
9:34 STILL DRE
There is a new Kontakt GUI Maker available that does make these things easier 😊
Thank you, that was awesome
Amazing demo, also made me want to buy a finger piano lol
😇
it's not "finger piano" - it is kalimba - (show me any piano to play without fingers, huh)
@@bartmuz any good russian knows the pianoforte is played with the wrists, not the fingers 😛

je nějaká možnost to potom uložit jako NKI kontakt file ? jakoby vyrobit svou vlastní knihovnu ? za každou radu budu moc rád :) děkuji a dobrá práce
There is the "Save" button at the top
That was cool!
Thank you!
thnx man
I am totally doing this!
Should've walked us through SAVING that new patch, so we don't have to see another video just for that. LOL.
And now RR! :)
Tq for tutorial
Thank you :) I learned a lot from this video ;)
Wholly molly, Sweetwater! This video is so invaluable thank you for this!
😎👍
Awesome!
In comes the Goby Brothers bass fish mural Capella group play set..
Thanks bro
Do this works with contact player?
For anyone reading, no, you need the full version.
