Nier is a great Series and 2B is so well designed. This captures the vibe of the entire game and her character so well. You always seem to do art for things I'm following at that current time haha. You are looking at the layers and telling yourself which one is for what part of the painting AND THEN (you even slow down the video) FOR A HALF SECOND u glance at the beautiful painting, then back to the layers and there are suddenly 4645441 layers and u are lost in a void

never ever under any circumstance draw without having an idea first , don't develop that habit and always try to restrain yourself give yourself specifications to follow take it seriously and study the fundamentals

Image > Canvas Size > Select the left arrow in the anchor panel and increase the width by whatever. Or you can just use the Crop Tool (shortcut C) and drag the middle right marker outwards. Both of these will extend your canvas the way he did.

anything above 3000 pixels will do the trick 5000 is a good resolution anything above that is really unnecessary unless you're doing some crazy wide poster commission and that would be for printing purposes not for painting a better picture
Flipping the image back and forth gives you a fresh new look at a picture. It really helps with discovering mistakes like wrong proportions, odd composition, etc. Old master painters used to use mirror to spot errors in their paintings.

wlop most likely knows full anatomy , it isn't as hard as you think i learned full anatomy in 3 days and a friend of mine learned it in like 2 hours , the "scribble" technique es good because it gives estimates and fakes detail while you decide how you're gonna do things

i doubt it's the same layer specifically , wlops fundamentals and techniques are really good he could paint this in one layer , so don't worry about that
School won't teach you anything special , anything in your mind and anything that you see can be illustrated and is all based on fundamentals , learn your gesture ,structure ranging from soldier pose to "s" curve pose , to twisting forms and combine those with a top down or vice versa camera angle , and lastly study anatomy , you don't have to learn all of the muscles though i suggest that you do they aren't that hard also learn composition and first second and third point perspective as well as color theory and study how to give the illusion of things without making them perfect , Craig Mullins is a perfect example of this.
This composition tho... and the character. The angle. AND each of WLOP's piece has a story to it. UGHHHH I LOVE IT
