I am a bit surprised to see that Italy was not in podium and Korea made it through to get the silver. USA is very strong. They are so strong that I won't be surprised if they win all World Cup and Pan-American Championships this season as well as the Olympic Games. I wonder what is their secret, though, especially when powerhouse like Italy, Russia, France have off-days a few times, there's nothing like "off-days" that can plague Team USA, at least for now. Korea made it to podium is unexpected, but well-deserved. Italy and France, medallists from last season's WCH were beaten by them, after all. Perhaps this season they will make it to Olympic podium, if they can consistently at the relatively top seat, above all Asian countries.
Borodachev fenced really well against Italy. I am surprised that Korea beat Italy, though! USA is definitely one of the favorites to win the Olympic Games, but Italy, France and Russia are not to be underestimated. Korea, Germany and Hong Kong have also upset favorites in the last year.
@@christianalbertjahns2577 Korea has been in the finals against America for a lot of the recent teams events, Russia suprised me tho with how good they fenced
@@cloudnein3483 well I can accept "a lot of team finals against America" but certainly not "recently" (except, of course, the recent Bonn WC) Last season, USA and Korea met in both Cairo and St. Petersburg, both of them are semis. Korea, I believe, never made it into final in last season (and that's the boundary I can accept for "recently")
Thev already met at least twice in Team Finals, IIRC in Löwe von Bonn WC (not this year, forget when it was) and Prince Takamado WC (Tokyo, also not remembered when it was)
Man, Itkin's performance this year has been stunning. He may just medal in Tokyo like Massialas did in Rio.
borodachev and itkin were on fire!!

beautiful match, espically the good work in managing the distance i think
Yes! I've got a distance control video coming up later this week!
I'm so happy to see the youth fencers like borodachev and itkin demolish the older fencers and Italy losing out of a medal is even better
Korea and Russia fenced really well against them. It's unexpected, considering Italy's record against both teams.
Also USA is really strong

Changing of the guards? 10-20 years ago, nobody could have dreamed that US and Korea would be in a world cup foil gold medal match.
