- Every day, we generate massive amounts of waste. This can be due to the number of plastic products we use, such as water bottles and straws. All of this rubbish burns or decomposes, but it takes a thousand years to break down. That’s producing plenty of issues, such as coastal flooding and human-made climate change. And what's worse is that there are now so many bits of junk floating around in our oceans, affecting marine life negatively.

Ohhh, all that microplastic... Thank you for this thought-provoking and very informative presentation on the impacts of waste on our environment. Just like for greenhouse gases, people tend to think that what we emit and throw into nature is so little that it can be considered insignificant. This video proves otherwise. Sadly recycling can only alleviate the problem a bit, especially as long as more plastic is still produced and used in packaging, sometimes even for bananas! Wonderful work! Its so easy for us to forget the impact we have when we throw away anything! From needing to recycling to throwing waste down sewers, there are so many ways that we damage the Earth around us! Though it takes just a little effort, not enough people take the necessary steps to take care of this dear Earth!

So true that when we toss something away, it will stay somewhere else and will pollute the environment. In recent years I see a lot more biodegradable plastic cups, bags and boxes and when they’re left outside for a few months, they start to degrade. But I don’t know if they still harm the soil, water and air. The better choice is not to buy and use too much so we will create less trash.
