- In Cyberspace, A2 comes into contact with the conceptional personalities as well, the Red Girl masterminds. They tell A2 that they remember her from the time she was on her experimental mission under the codename No. 2 as part of a disposable test run made for Project YoRHa. The Red Girls are the ones responsible for destroying A2’s entire squad back when she was still with YoRHa. A2 and her comrades were actually the first generation of YoRHa androids. They were sent out as guinea pigs and the commander had no regard for their safety. A2 saw this as a betrayal on the commander’s part, hence her desertion from YoRHa. A2 survived an experiment that she was never intended to come out alive.
Pod 042 proposes that A2 should take advantage of the conceptional personalities in order to create a weakness in the network. By not attacking the enemy, A2 allows the network to grow more intelligent and more aware of its own diversity which prompts the network to start fighting itself. One side of the network insists on keeping the androids alive as fighting against them will provide them with more opportunities to evolve as they face more hardships. The other side of the network sees A2 as a threat and insists that she be destroyed. The two conflicting sides then begin attacking each other as A2 watches on. With the Red Girls significantly weakened, A2 is able to dispose of this particular projection of their consciousness.

I find this so fascinating. The Terminal artificial intelligence became so advance that it developed divergent solutions to problem solving yet was so aggressive that it destroyed itself for daring to present an alternate choice. Terminal would destroy any who are different, even itself when it was of two minds.

@@rahulverma8774your two brain hemispheres are connected by a corpus collosum. If the corpus collosum is severed, your different sides of your body will have conflicting decisions, like one hand doing buttons up, while the other undoes them.

Yeah machines probably used the same voice sample to speak, or leaders of both sides aren't actually enemies.
Both side were war robots, perhaps they reached an agreement of eternal war in order to forever fulfill their "purpose"?

The fact that A2 can't catch on seems like a bit of a plot hole to me considering A2 is supposed to have extremely good analytical skills when put under intense scenarios.

YoderTan not a plot hole. A2 is designed to fight physical enemies. I doubt she has ever had to deal with, whatever the hell these red girls are.

Now I understand that this is based to Tower of Babel story. So like human, the machine/network evolve becoming clever and many, and then they divided fight each other and start from zero again.

They started acting like humans, they eventually fought with each other like humans.
from what i gathered they act like humans because "the network" is designed to evolve, upon breaking into the remaining data of the gestalt project on the moon they inherited "humanity" and eventually decided to act against their programming.

This part was so damn awesome, the music, the tension , Nier Automata is definitely one of my favorite video games of all time.

@John A. Well thanks I already figured it out using Google's voice command feature to find music with it. But the fact you went out of your way to tell me is a kind gesture.
This Concept of just leaving the enemy (Boss) alone and do nothing to win, Kind of reminds me of the final boss of prince of persia the two thrones. When you fight against the dark prince in the mental realm all you have to do is to leave him alone and Go away. If you fight him then there is no end to his respawn. Altough the reason here is different it is still interesting.

It blows my mind that breath of the wild took game of the year from this masterpiece. Such an incredible story. It got overshadowed simply because legend of zelda is a bigger name. This game deserved more praise.

Having played both I personally prefer bots but nier is also a masterpiece no idea why it didn’t get nominated though
Well I would argue the open world game play did definitely help to earn its game of the year title, Nier Automata does definitely seem underrated. I still want to buy it if I can.
You challenge Platinum on action? You lose. You challenge Yoko Taro on story? You lose. You challenge Keiichi Okabe on music? Lose.
You accept Nier? Victory.
What about Shoji Meguro about Music?

Does anyone else see this a Drakengard 1 reference to Manah? A young girl dressed in red, who's voice changes into a male's, who is also responsible for the horrific events that happen? It doesn't seem like a coincidence.
Not to mention the Logic Virus itself is connected somehow to the Red Eye Disease from Drakengard and the mysterious “Red Eye” individual in NiER itself.

@@manuelalbertoromero9528 Yeah but remember that the logic virus is a YoRha creation, not the machines, although Evr has the Watchers symbol innhis chest and also showed red eyes. Both androids and machines could be influenced indirectly by Watchers/God.
I think so too, that or the reference to Caim and Angelus making a pact when B2 and 9S have their black boxes touch.
With the FFXIV, this is becoming much more likely.

I thought it was wordplay w/ 2B's name. A to B -> A 2 B -> A2 & 2B. A2 comes before 2B in terms of creation and production so i thought that made sense

But what is that thing exactly is it a alien AI that wanted to imitate humans or is it part of the AI from the moon and wanted to keep the hope of humanity alive?
I haven't played the first nier, but maybe the gestalts of humans are trying be reborn through androids/machines.
I did a Little research, don't quote me on this
But from what I gathered... But Yorha were remaining androids that pretty much made up the humans being alive to keep hope thats why the commander said "We need a God" and Machines said "Become as gods" and killed themselves
The machines were in fact made by aliens but red girl is the high-boss AI of Machines that wanted to become human like just like the rest of the machines
And the whole Gestalt thing was a organization that were trying to help last few humans but after they all died out they were like "Fuck it lets blow up the server on moon and end it all", but later changed their minds since it was too extreme
The network, machines or aliens did not created the fake image of the humans on the moon, nor the Council of Humanity.
This network was created by the machines whos killed the aliens but they were unable to defeat the androids yet.
They had much of an interest in the real humans yet.
Also the Gestalt Project has nothing to do with it since it was doomed by Paula and Popola when Nier decided to kill the Shadowlord and kill the last hope of humanity.

I finished the game not knowing a single thing about red girl, I didnt even know her purpose in the game other than to fill up some time with some action....
I am just looking to find some lore about her or just general information.
They're just the form the Machine Terminals choose to take, basically the Terminals are the leading AI of the machine network, and they're as intelligent as all the machines combined.
Design-wise her appearance, and the fact that their voice becomes an old man's, is a throwback reference to Manah from Drakengard 1 (who was a main antagonist of that game)
Well from what I got out of it it was playing both sides to in order to evolve even more. Alot of information is at the tower surprisingly but also at the factory while playing as 9s hacking into the main power you can find project Gestalt documents I happened to run up on one of them by accident. (Which I think you've probably already know about that). Anyway I think that's it.
The machine network is like a hive mind. Every single machine that is connected builds an entity called 'network'. The red girl is the personification of the hive mind itself. It's very interesting when we compare that to humanity. We also have kind of a hive mind, like ants or bees. Alone we're kind of powerless, but with many humans we can build whole cities and change the world to our will. We also have a kind of collective memory (e.g. few break points in human history) and a similar sense of morality. We together build "Humanity/The humans", as the machines build "The Network" or as ants building "A Colony".
Red Girls (N2) was created from the information about some human individual, but who that was i don't know.
Yoko Taro said in interview: The machine lifeforms absorbed the memory data of ‘a certain human’ that was stored on the old servers, and the red girls (N2) were born as a result of that.
