Better to root after updating OS but if you already rooted you can still, add TWRP recovery and flash the original OEM ROM and if it messes with root you can reflash magisc 26+. Zip but after Root and trying different Rims + kernel+ boot animation, so no matter what you will never want to go back to stock

For anyone doing this on Magisk 26.2 or above it now needs the actual payload file, not the extract boot file, so you actually skip Step 5 now.
