- In Crisis Core Final Fantasy Reunion, Zack is excited to fail. This moment always made me smile both for how cheesey Zack can be, and it shows a side of Sephiroth that many didn't know existed.

It's honestly incredible to think that Sephiroth used to be kind of a bro.

Which is what makes Crisis Core so much more tragic and sad if you played the OG game. I knew Sephiroth is gonna be evil. I knew he'll raze Nibelheim. I knew Zack was gonna die without Aerith knowing. Yet I still played it.

People complain about anything and about a lot of dumb shits but there's a saying if you are so unhappy about it do it yourself except they won't be able to!

I agree these lines were delivered excellently! There are other parts of Reunion where Zack sounds too nasally vs the og. Imo.
I like the line here more but I still prefer the older va's both for sephiroth and Zack here. Sephiroth just sounds like hes trying to do Nicolas cage

I don't have any problem with Zach's voice but at some points it sounds very off which makes it a bit wierd.
Tbf everyone in crisis core rebirth is very...Weird. aerith's va gives a very stilted performance here but shes one of the best in the ff7 games, so i think the voice direction was just "ok hear this? *plays audio* do that."
Zack sounds fantastic in ff7 rebirth too so its not a problem with the va

It's not the voice acting that's bad, its the actual lines.
And yet Rick Gomez had the same lines and his delivery was better so it might be the voice direction too

I’ve just come from Rebirth, where the VA for Zack has turned in a MUCH better performance, but holy crap was he god awful in this game. He must have done nothing but practice between then and now.
The “ And what!?” sounds a little suppressed, kinda like a whisper yell
In fairness, a LOT of the dialogue in both versions of Crisis Core sounds super unnatural. This was an issue in the original too. Seems like they did a bad job of directing the voice actors (though imo the VA in Reunion is overall better than the original)
Agreed. His voice in RE part 1 and CC Reunion were god awful, I'm glad he improved
Both versions of Crisis Core have godawful voice direction.
VA's often don't get a lot of context or the best direction. If this VA can play the game after it came out, he gets a lot more info about the character's portrayal in the series and can turn in a much better performance for later installments.
