I love the different puppies' traits and personalities coming through in this scene. Roly's insatiable appetite, Patch's aggression, Lucky's TV addiction, Penny's worship of her father...it all helps to build the family picture so well, and makes you root for the dogs even more during the rescue mission later on!
I love how little Lucky sits down and wags his tail when they tell him to stop blocking the television. So cute. I remember loving this movie as a kid, and when I was hungry I would always say to my mom "I'm hungry mother, I really am" haha 😂
@@freelands8355 I don't think that it was Pongo's fault. But he knew that he would probably not find strong enough argument at that very moment to convince Perdita that he was not the guilty one so he just resigned to his fate and accepted the guilt.
Patch was always my favorite dalmatian puppy. Even the spot around his eye makes him look really badass, kind of like a canine version of Alex from A Clockwork Orange.
This whole movie is cute, but this is one of the cutest scenes! Cruella has always been my favorite villain, but I can't deny that the puppies are sooooooo cute! LOL

At 2:02, it's like the voice Paul Frees would later use for one of the trolls in Rankin-Bass' The Hobbit. At 2:18, it's like the laugh Frees would later use for Meowrice from Gay Purr-ee when the evil cat fought Jaune-Tom on the train. The Dirty Dawson's expression at 2:14 and Thunderbolt's expression at 2:20 are formidably impressive.
2:33 Is When Dirty Dawson and Thunderbolt Plunge into the river and Into the waterfall which is the same recycled as The Rescuers Down Under when Joanna and Mcleach Fall into the river when Mcleach goes to the waterfall
Fun fact: In the book, the puppy that was the runt-that-almost-didn't-make-it & TV obsessed was a girl puppy named Cadpig (that same one from the TV series), but yet for some odd reason they gave those traits to her brother Lucky, while Cadpig isn't even in the movie (or maybe she's one of the other female puppies on screen that barely got any lines).
I remember having a stuffed dalmatian that looked a lot like Patch, and I named it after him. I don't remember if I sold it or not. I might check the garage sale boxes if it's still there. Anyways, several years after I eventually stopped playing with it, I got a job at the animal shelter and we recently rescued a dog who happened to be pregnant (she's going to give birth any day now). While she wasn't a dalmatian, she did resemble Patch because the black spot on her eye (she also had a few black spots on each ear, but everything else was white). Since our name theme was Disney names, the staff let me name her, and I chose Patch as her name due to the black spot on her eye. We all agreed it was a perfect name. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be rewatching this.
When I had "Mario Party 3" and landed on a Bowser Space and got either Bowser's Curse, Reverse Curse, Coin Shuffle, or Revolution, I pretended to be Lucky by having my face close to the screen and when he roared at my face after a shock of light, I pretended to run away in fear.
Been a long time since I’ve seen this animated original. But after revisiting the 90’s remake a while back, I can say this one is better by a mile. Especially with the family interaction!
I'll bet a $2 bill that if Rolly ate every last bit of food on the face of this planet, he would STILL B hungry, as Garfield was on "Garfield And Friends: Nighty Nightmare".
At no point during the entire movie are all 15 original puppies seen in the same shot. In this scene the most is 13 in the very first shot from behind of them. There is always at least or two missing from the shot.
0:07 In this shot, 13 out of 15 puppies are shown. The missing two are in front of Perdita, to the left of Rolly. At no point during the entire movie are all 15 shown in same shot. This instance is when most of them are shown in same shot.
I'm sure that all 15 were in the same shot when Sergeant Tibbs was counting them right before he locked lips with a slightly inebriated Jasper who mistook him for his wine bottle.
Spoilers: After surviving the waterfall, Thunderbolt drags Dirty Dawson to the sheriff (who was waiting by the river bed) & returned the horse back to it's rightful owner.
Who is your favorite puppy? Mine was always lucky. I guess because I identified him as the most by being a huge TV watcher and always that close to the TV. That and his the puppy that died that came back.
What can you expect when an animated film is set in England, but made in America? It was probably hard for American children back then to voice "child" characters that are British. And besides, today, filmmakers can easily make a film with an ensemble cast of well-known actors that can be either British, French, and/or Australian.
+slapshot68 You need to have at least two kids because we need a stable birth rate of 2.0 in order to maintain the population, if we don't then we'll go through a economic, Culturally, and population decline. :)
A wise decision. We already have more than 7 billion people on this planet, so a few people choosing not to have kids in the long run, won't be such a big deal.
619AGT Most population growth is actually coming from Africa and the middle east while Europe, East Asia, and North America have declining populations. The entire world population is suppose to start declining after 2100. Europe and North American due needs more babies though as their populations are declining too fast and spell trouble for their social security.
While the Damatians look to be white and it is generally perceived that they are in real life, this is actually not the case. They are very light grey. This proved good to animators as animating white dogs during the snow storm scenes near the end of the movie would be nearly impossible. Dalmatians are also very light grey in real life, too.
